News: Lunar Magic 1.81 Released!
Today, 10 years after the first anniversary of LM, FuSoYa has released version 1.80 1.81 of Lunar Magic which some pretty nifty features such as a built-in backup/restore system, ability to use 4BPP OW palettes, work with a tile grid, ability to import and export overworld palettes and much more! Check out this thread for more info.

Download the new version here.

Have fun with the new release!

Attention: various bugs are starting to get discovered. Stick to Lunar Magic 1.71 for the time being! See the aforementioned thread for more info. 1.81 has been released, fixing the Map16 issues that were crashing roms using 1.80. Should be all fixed now but be cautious and make backups before initial use just to be safe!

well, so your saying until the bugs get fixed just stay with LM 1.71?

It's kind of a vicious circle, then...if nobody understands what it's about, then nobody will offer suggestions, so the patches won't get released, so I won't write tutorials or anything for them, so nobody will understand them.

Of course, on the other hand, I'm fairly certain the object one works, and not only will the sprite one be part of GEMS, I've already designed a couple of sprites that require it. So if people want to use those sprites, they'll have to learn what the expansion hack is all about and how to use it (it's NOT difficult), or they're pretty much hosed.

imamelia, advertising it everywhere doesn't do anything as nearly nobody understands what it's about, how it works, what it will do and why they should waste time for something they could live without.

Zildjian: I thought of that, but I doubt the project leaders would want to take the time to do so. (At least, assuming they also used some of the new features to cut down on level data space.)

Can more people PLEASE participate in my other discussion thread (linked in my custom title)? The patches that allow the object and sprite expansion features to be used...I fully intend to submit them to the patches section, and maybe even write a tutorial about them, but we won't get anywhere if nobody shows any interest or gives any feedback.

I notice it says "various bugS" when in fact, only one bug seems to have been discovered so far.

By the way, how many people have actually checked out the link in my custom title, which leads to a thread with information about a couple specific features of the new Lunar Magic (more data bytes for objects and sprites)?

How in the fudge did the testers NOT spot the map16 problem? Fusoya needs to hire new testers sometime. (No I am not saying me, I don't want to test it due to me probably not being a big help so it's not like that :P)

Good thing I backed up 1.71. So, I'm guessing we need a 1.81 to fix these bugs.

Can anyone confirm this?

e: nevermind, confirmed it myself. Do not place direct map16 blocks in the level. Custom or not.
