Okay, n00bs, here ya go.
If you use another messenger, a great, free AIO solution is Pidgin. Even auto-joins IRC channels on boot (ALL OF THEM, so if you have like, ten of them, hope that Pidgin does not crash when they all connect.)
If you use a Mozilla app (Firefox being a grand example), get the ChatZilla extension.
If you got nothing else, join via mIRC and be happy with it.
Another forum member joins via Mibbit, an online solution for IRC. But I think you can also join our channel from CentralChat's website.
