Question:Why do I need to take screenshots?
Answer:Screenshots give potential players of your hack something to judge wheather they would like to play your hack or not. Posting no screenshots generates little interest in a hack, while posting good and effective screenshots generate a lot of interest.
Question:How do I post these screenshots?
Answer:You cannot link them directly from your hard drive unless it is actually connected to the internet. Because of this, SMW Central provides a FileBin service, which can be found in the navigation menu as My Files.
Question:How do you take screenshots?
Answer:Emulators like SNES9x, ZSNES, and bsnes have a built-in screen capture function, please see your emulator's documentation to learn how to use it. Do note that ZSNES defaults to Bitmap (BMP) images, it is highly suggested that you switch it to PNG images to prevent extremely large file sizes.
Question:How do you take a good screenshot?
Answer:Good screenshots capture an action in progress. For example, if Mario is bouncing on an enemy, about to bop another one, while there is a lava trap right in front of him, that is typically an interesting screenshot. However, if Mario is just standing still on a wide, flat expanse of land with no enemies in sight, that's boring. Use your own judgment, of course, in order to determine what a good screenshot or not is.
Question:What is the HTML code for linking a screenshot?
Answer:<img src="The full url, with http:// prefix of the image goes here.">

Other attributes you can specify:
alt= What text to display if the image cannot be loaded for any reason.
title= What text to display when you rollover the image with the mouse cursor.
There are of course more, but they're not really important or needed. Just <img src=""> does the trick.
Question:What about videos? Can I post those?
Answer:You can, but we have recently had to crack down on videos of miserably bad hacks. Use your own judgment here. If your video level appears to be no fun, looks awful, or a combination, people are going to make fun of it in your thread. You'll also be banned for posting it. Don't take this as you can't post videos, because you can.
