SMWCP 2 - RSN file

I have spent about an hour compiling an RSN file for SMWCP 2. To those who don't know, an RSN file is essentially an entire game's soundtrack, compressed using the RAR format. In this case, you'll get 72 music tracks with slightly over three hours worth of music for the same size as 3, in one great package! There are four songs not included with this RSN, hence the gaps between 64-67 and the lack of a 00 track.

You can open the RSN directly with most music players that support SPCs (Winamp is a common choice), or you can rename the extension to .RAR and extract the files individually. The track information is listed in the ID666 tags, or you can read the "trackdata.txt" file contained within the .RAR for a few more details.

Without further ado, here is the link to the file. If you'd rather keep the songs a surprise until the hack is released, you can bypass this, but if you're interested in hearing what the hack has to offer sound-wise, have a listen!

ASM workshop take 2 (Intermediate 2)

Oh looks it's this kind of news post again! :D

This is a quick reminder that the ASM workshop will be commencing in approximately 20 minutes. It's taking place on SMWCentral's IRC server irc.caffie.net, in the channel #workshop.

Last time the intermediate workshop didn't manage to fit into the day, so this is part two of last week's workshop.

This is a great opportunity to learn ASM in order to create custom items (mostly sprites I think) for Super Mario World, because the level of this workshop is intermediate. I wouldn't miss this opportunity!

Update: It's over.

Minecraft survival games

Just a reminder that the Minecraft Survival Games start Saturday 9:00pm GMT, 4:00pm EST. The server will be up shortly before this so everyone has a chance to get it and we'll start off when everyone we need is in and set up.

Minecraft server address: minecraft.caffie.net:25562

Mumble server address: mumble.caffie.net:48000

For more information regarding rules and other information, or for general questions regarding the games, visit the Survival Games thread.

SMWC YouTube Channel Now Accepts User Content

Yes, it's true, now if you want the entire community to know about your hack, music, graphics or so on, just make a video about it, and send this guy a message containing the MOV, AVI, MP4, or so on. He'll review them as fast as he can and notify the author (Maybe you!) whether it's been approved or not.

However, don't send videos you made using your cellphone camera, because we still expect some quality videos to be uploaded. Not incredible quality, just watchable quality.

YI Contest

So hey. For the first time ever, a Yoshi's Island Level Design Contest (henceforth known as the YILDC, or "yild see") is being held. With the release of Golden Egg a couple of years ago, editing YI has been made (almost) as easy as SMW. Want to join? Want to try something new? Check it out:

Rules and Submissions
Discussion

Download Golden Egg, the level editor for YI, right here. You'll have to Google your own YI ROM, of course.

Good luck, and have fun - especially if it's your first time editing the game!

Zeldara edit: And don't forget, if you have any YI hacking questions, we do have a Yoshi's Island forum.

ASM workshop take 2 (Intermediate)

This is a quick reminder that the ASM workshop will be commencing in approximately 40 minutes. It's taking place on SMWCentral's IRC server irc.caffie.net, in the channel #workshop.

This is a great opportunity to learn ASM in order to create custom items (mostly sprites I think) for Super Mario World, because the level of this workshop is intermediate. I wouldn't miss this opportunity!

Update: It has begun. Feel free to join, anyway.

Update 2: The workshop has ended. The next workshop will be about intermediate ASM again, though it will be part 2 of 2. Apparently not everything fitted into 1 workshop :D

Tips of the Day

The ropebox (that is, the area up top where the tips are listed) has finally had an overhaul. Several really bad tips have been removed, and a few of the other ones have had spelling/grammar issues fixed. On top of that, about 20-25 new ones have been added, including one about item babysitting, one about the purple triangles, and several linking to useful tools for SMW hacking that you may not have known about before.

A thread has been made in regards to it here.

Tools

Last night, p4plus2 and I spent a couple of hours cleaning up the Tools section drastically. This clean-up included the following:

-Removing 42 old and defunct tool (eg. the Japanese MML editor that aboslutely no one uses since Kipernal's was released).
-Editing the description of several tools to make them easier to understand for newcomers.
-Packaging certain tools together (eg. the Iggy/Larry Platform Palette Editor and the Iggy/Larry Platform Editor are now bundled as "Iggy/Larry Battle Tools").

All of the archived tools will be hosted in a few days so that you can download them (if you really want to).

Also, we are currently stuck in a little debate between the classic Lunar IPS and the more updated IPSharp. Check out this thread to cast your vote.

Idol round 3 (...months later)

Idol round 3 has finally entered the voting phase, for one week, voting will be open to the public, download the .spc files here and vote here
