| News: Happy Four Years! |
So it's been four years since the "apocalypse" of SMWC - that is, the day (the site was revived after)** everyone was promoted to a moderator to destroy things.
Streamers!
**Fixed for your pleasure. |

| News: New music subforum |
Given the overwhelming amount of music-related questions that can't seem to decide whether they want to be in the basic or advanced category, I have made a separate subforum for music by popular request. I imagine this forum could include any of the following:
-Asking for any and all music-related help.
-Showing off your SPCs.
-Archiving sample banks.
-Probably other stuff I'm missing.
I've also given Slash Man his long overdue promotion during the remoderation of the music section. Welcome aboard.

| News: Enough with the My Little Pony threads, guys. |
Recently, you may have seen some threads--oh, who am I kidding? These days, you can't miss the threads about MLP. Regardless of why they are created, they almost always descend into flaming, bad posting, and--in general--Trash Can material. This really needs to stop.
We have a My Little Pony discussion thread. If you want to talk about the show in a polite and reasonable manner, do so there. Just...please, stop cluttering up the forums (particularly the World of Insanity) with MLP threads. While some of them do lead to good discussion of the show and/or its fans, there are some people who ruin these threads. Truthfully, the staff and general userbase is tired of that happening.
Just as a clarification: the staff is NOT taking sides in a war that doesn't really exist. All we are concerned about is the bad posting some MLP threads end up leading to.
Thank you. |

| News: SMWCP2's Title Screen |
Are you artist-like dudes ready to try your hand at drawing SMWCP2's title screen? Hyped for being on the front cover?
Let's do it. |

| News: SMWCP2 |
And thus, we have reached the first major deadline for SMWCP2. Here is what we ended up with.
Levels 100% completed: 35 (42.7%)
Levels inserted: 24 (29.2%)
What have I learned from this? Well, as expected, several people slacked until the very last minute and then tried to blame me for not giving them enough time (it was actually really cute)! Four months to design a level .. huh. Needless to say, I'm both very pleased with some people and very disappointed at the same time.
Where do we go from here? Well, we'll continue working on the levels, of course. I will not be holding a second round of signups simply because there aren't enough slots open, but if you're still interested in helping out with the project, test some levels and offer feedback! Seriously, I don't think people realize how important this role is.
I suppose there are two other things I should note.
-To all level designers: From now on, you will be expected to give weekly progress updates. Because some people clearly do not know how to communicate, I'll need to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.
-I know a bunch of the site's artists were interested in making up the title screen, so look forward to that thread soon.
The deadline for ALL levels (including the ones from June/July will be midnight on September 17th.
That's all for now. |

| News: Welcome Kipernal |
He will be helping us moderate a few sections around the site, mainly in the tools area.
In other news, the deadline for all SMWCP2 levels claimed in April/May is less than a week away! Time to get the lead out people. If you're the one who always waits until the last minute to do stuff, this IS your last minute.
Atma Edit: I'd also like to point out that music moderation is going to be a little slow for awhile due to a mass remoderation; much like the RAM map went through.
Lightvayne Edit: Only a half a day away guys. If you're not finished yet, now is the time to PAAAANIC!!! |

| News: SMWCP2 et al. |
As for now, April/May level designers for SMWCP2 have until August 3rd to submit a fully playable level. If you are one of these designers, you were likely included in my mass PM. If you're not .. get to work anyway, because there are going to be no more of these four month deadlines (1.5 at the most, I reckon). Approximately 15 levels are fully completed (out of about 82), and by the deadline, I'd like to have at least 50 or 60.
As for some non-SMWCP2 related news, I've recently collected and archived several old contests that have been held on SMWC - namely, the overworld contest, auto-level contest, haunted house contest, and the very first vanilla contest. I will be posting ZIPs of these in a few days, so if you're big into nostalgia and whatnot, you'll enjoy these.
Finally, on the topic of hacking contests, I promised one over the summer. This is still happening - in fact, more details about it will be revealed in early August. Stay tuned.
Have a nice day.
EDIT: Also, one of the very last words of my PM says "their" and not "there" because I was really tired earlier when I sent them. Sue me for that atrocious grammar. ANDYEDIT: S.N.N. = Shamefully Neglectful Non-good-speller. |

| News: Featured hacks - update |
The decision about the new system is basically done, read the new featured hacks thread here (note: not completely done yet). Now just wait until Kieran is done with coding all of this.
Patience is welcome. |

| News: SMWCP2 Reminder |
Just as a quick reminder, the deadline for all SMWCP2 submissions is LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY!
This is now the time where all you procrastinators stop twiddling your thumbs and get to working. It may not sound like it, but a month really isn't all that long. If you are waiting on requests, work around them for now or even think of something else to fill its place so you can get as much done as possible. |

| News: Name Changes List Now Available. |
The staff has decided to release its list of users who changed their name. Link.
After all, we don't want people to get confused when users they like change their name. |
