I've been hacking for quite some time, but this is the first I've posted on SMWCentral. So... Screenshots, anyone?

The Title Screen

Sunset Ridge (Likely to be overhauled)

Mushroom Castle

The first World

The Oncoming Forces

Should I be providing a link to the first Demo? Like I said: I'm new to this.

There's the new color; I like the darker blue anyhow. And yes they are ExGFX, but they utilize the vanilla palettes. I don't think I'll change that brown, however; like I said, it's the same palette as the original.

Here's a PrintScreen of my current overworld (The 'END' thing is there as a placeholder). Sorry about teh Mario Paths. :/ And since I already connected the bridge with the next screen, I just edited the landscape to be a little wider.

The Blue/Island Switch Palace has an island under it, but it forms with the Switch Palace. And yes I will be using the stray sprites (The Koopa Kid, the Smoke, etc.) eventually.

Anything else? The demo perhaps?

-NAM
(Another Link for the overworld)

So I overhauled the Third World (the Mountains). Are there any more perspective issues?

(Yes, a link; Overworld re-do 3)

I fixed most things.

-NAM
(I wasn't using img tags because I thought the picture was too large to simply place in the thread. Sorry; that's how another forum works...)

I COMPLETELY CHANGED THE DUSTY MOUNTAIN LEVEL.

I'm also going to be adding the Blue Bird sprite. Also, notice that I made sure to fix the perspective issues; did it work? I'm kinda picking up on how to make my overworld right. Kinda. `^_^

Okay I tried the two shown pipes together, and they warp, but then I can't move in any direction (in this case up) from the pipe.

So, I can warp to and fro the top pipe, but I can't move up from it. And, yes, there is a Mario Path there, I just have Layer 2 Tiles there.

Yes, I read the help file, but it states NOTHING about this.

-NAM
(Sorry bout that)

Okay, It's probably because I haven't been testing it under a New File. Sorry to waste everyones' time.

-NAM
(I've used addmusic for quite a while, but I've had issues...)

So, there are two issues I've had. the first is music being added, and the music plays, but it isn't the full song. Prominent examples are the Yoshi's Island Castle/Fort music and the New Super Mario Bros. Overworld theme. It just endlessly loops the, in the NSMB-O case, first ten or so seconds of the song.

Also, I've heard of this 'N-SPC Patch' that's needed for some songs. What is this? I thought it was an .asm/.ips patch, but... I came up empty.

I'm sorry if this sounds noobish, but... that's why it's under "Basic SMW Hacking," huh?

-NAM
I am using the file named "addmusic_e" and the Readme says it is by Pearl, Version 1.11.

I'm going to check for a more recent version.

Okay, I downloaded Version 1.22 and I'm seeing if it works alright.

It works! Alright, then. I got addmusic down-pat. Thank you!

I was hoping it would be possible to change the Yoshi's Egg in the vanilla cutscenes into a Star Sprite. I poked around the GFX files I extracted from the ROM, but I can't find the Yoshi's Egg that's used.

Is it possible to change the Yoshi's Egg sprite to a Star sprite?

-NAM
Alright, thank you! #w{=)}

-NAM

What the hell is that? Seriously. It's supposed to be a Bomb Bro Custom Sprite, but sometimes it looks like that, sometimes it doesn't. At first I though it might have been X/Y controlled.

It's not.

This only happens with this particular sprite, not even my Bullet Bro. What is going on and how can I fix it?

-NAM
Okay, it's not jsut the Bomb Bro; it's the Bullet Bro too! And that's not it, because sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I reinserted the ExGFX and the Sprites and it still doesn't work.

-NAM
It keeps mentioning "index to sprite tilemap ($300)". Important?

I'm trying the Sprite Settings now. IT WORKED! Thank you; I have no idea why I didn't think about it in the first place,

(Okay, I swear to God I put this in SMW Hack Discussion, I swear it! So sorry; please move it. *Sigh* Sorry!)

Alright, all, tear my hard work apart like you do best! XD

--I edited the BG palette to a better, blueish color.

--The first and only required Switch Palace in the hack

--Koopa's Bridge; also has 'Lightning Generator'

--Tribal Village; Goomba to Shy Guy and Eerie to that... flying monkey thing =P

--A Secret in the Island Switch Palace...? ;-)

--Fishstick Reef; my take on a 'water level'.

--A little secret in a Boomerang Bro Mini-Boss Area. ;-)

I'll get a picture of the Overworld up soon. So... anything to point out?

Yeah, I realized that pretty quickly...

The Water graphics are from SMB3 and there are actually VERY few tiles used.

I was also considering changing the Island Palace's palette beforehand, so this is motivation for me to get frickin' moving! ^_^

No kidding! This is one hack I'm looking forward to, and I'm usually not a fan of one-level hacks. ^_^

-NAM
The reason the Blue Palace is missing a few tiles is because they act like 'Used' blocks.

The Jungle palette came with the ExGFX.

-NAM
Oh, no, I wasn't trying to hide its stem at all; the red is fine by me. I kinda like it anyways. I just thought it was clever to hide said Pirahna behind the grass/bushes. Oh, and OVERWORLD TIME! (And they are large pictures, which is why they're linked).

The top half (Main OW, Mushroom Kingdom and Koopa Base)

The Bottom Half (MKingdom, Orange Beach, Starstruck Hills, Polar Plains, Koopa Base and Bowser's Airship)

=====================================================================

Okay, here's a preview of the palette of Satrstruck Hills' levels.

--Vanilla Graphics FTW!! =D

--And there's the new Island Switch palette. Better?

--AND the Dusty Mines. I LOVE these Bridge GFX; they work on FG2, so I can use the Underground on FG3! =D

I'm trying to avoid buying a brand new one.

So I went to test out a level I made when all of a sudden, BOOM, my controller doesn't work. It's an XBox USB Controller, and I blew in all the ports, and it only works with this one port.

I had turned off my computer overnight and let the controller 'air out' so-to-speak, but it still didn't work. There was NO forshadowing of this controller not working, so I'm thinking it could still work.

So... what? And it's not an issue with the actual port; it works with everything else.
