Tip: Use palettes that don't burn the eyes. A blazing bright yellow and a night-black are not pleasant.

I actually disagree with what some have said on new content: after buying Chrono Trigger DS, stuff like the new ending, new dungeons and sidequests were pretty poor and tacked on, and I honestly think the game was better off without them. Not to say new content in a remake can't be done, but since you're going back to alter what was a finished and published game years later, it's pretty hard to actually make it fit in smoothly. Adding a couple new medallions and dungeons to go with them might have been cool in OoT, but it's hard for me to imagine it not feeling unfitting compared to the rest of the game.

I'll pick this up Tuesday, since my 3DS is in serious need of games, I only played Ocarina once many years ago, and I'm looking forward to seeing the 3D and graphical upgrade. I'm really excited for new games like Super Mario 3D and Luigi's Mansion 2 rather than remakes, but this should hold me over for now.
So, I was talking to SNN about SMWCP2, and one of the issues that came up was sprite placement. He's reported that in some levels, sprites simply walk off ledges and aren't necessarily the best placed. As stuff gets fixed and more levels get designed, I thought it'd be worth sharing a trick I use for my hack to combat that.

If you have the edge of a ledge like this:
____
|

then you can take a Mario-only block (as in, Mario can pass through it, sprites can't) and place it...

up here, then sprites that normally walk off ledges will turn around. You can change the behavior of the sprite, but of course that's global unless you want to eat up a custom sprite slot. With this, the player won't notice the block, but it'll make the sprites put up a fight.

Obviously, this has its limitations: you don't want to place anything carryable near it or it can be placed on the block, and you don't want sprites that can hop on to it. Still, I've found it quite useful for Dry Bones and similar enemies.

College gets out a bit earlier for me, so I've been on break since the beginning of May. For the rest of the summer, I don't have too much planned. In August my family's going down to southern Oregon to see some relatives, and later in August I'm going up to Washington state for a week long debate camp.
I have one, but don't really use it much. It's just one of those things I check like email. It's a nice way to see what my friends from high school are up to and a chance for me to post important stuff, but I very rarely chat on it.
I have a car, but mostly see it as a way to get places as others have mentioned. Still, given the high price some pay, customization made, and their reliability, I can see why some get attached to their cars. Either way though, it's worth making it look presentable. Like clothes, you don't have to wear something new and fancy, but if it's trashy and dented up, it can get others (and the police) a little concerned.
Taking A1-A4. There's a chance I might not end up needing one of two of them, but for now, I'd like to play it safe.
Claiming 50-53.
Taking 140-143.

I'll need 140 for my custom foreground, 141 for my custom background, one of the two for sprite graphics, and the other either for the second sprites page or for additional background graphics.
Requesting medium background scroll left for generator slot D2.

Since some are confused about Mexican drug cartels: from what I've heard, (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) they're essentially criminal "gangs" that transport marijuana and other drugs north to the United States, especially to California. The idea is that people illegally buy the drugs from the cartels since they're cheap and accessible, and that keeps the industry going. The argument is that by legalizing marijuana, people can just grow their own or buy it locally, eliminating the need for the cartels. So, the drug cartels are no longer needed and lose a ton of money, making them much weaker. This is important because these drug cartels are extremely aggressive, carrying guns on their route and killing thousands of innocent civilians and police officers. Different cartels fight each other very frequently, only causing more violence.

Or, you know, we could make tobacco and alcohol illegal too, but history has shown that doesn't work out too well.

Pretty much. I've never tried alcohol, drugs or tobacco (nor do I intend to despite being offered several times) but we can live in one of two worlds. World A criminalizes all drugs and alcohol. We tried prohibition and it didn't work, plus, such a system would only encourage crime and drug dealing. World B is where we set a certain limit: allowing some drugs like tobacco and marijuana while making only the "hard" drugs illegal. I'm much more in favor of the second option, yet right now, it's incredibly inconsistent. Cigarettes and alcohol may very well be worse than marijuana, yet they're illegal while it's not. That's silly, and it only makes sense for it to be legalized. Plus, it can be taxed, bringing in some much-needed revenue.

Well, President Obama is supporting Gay Marriage Rights, to be legal in all states.

Obama has never been in support of same-sex marriage. He's supported civil unions, but in the past he's seen marriage as between a man and a woman. What he's done at the recent LGBT fundrasiers is basically say "leave it to the states" and allow them to legalize it (i.e. New York) rather than push for any legislation across the board or personally support same-sex marriage.

Yes.

•Do you think marriage should be "sacred"?

Sure, but the big myth is that gay marriage somehow soils the "sacred bond" or whatever. It doesn't. Consider a few things:

1. If you and a significant other of the opposite sex get married, your marriage is just as legal and can be just as fancy or religious as you want it to be. Two men getting married in the next town over does nothing to change that. Gay marriage doesn't threaten a heterosexual couple in any way, and only helps two people of the same gender who love each other and want to enjoy the same legal protections married couples do. Plus, there's a good chance your church can opt out and just provide heterosexual marriages, "preserving" the religious aspect if you're that concerned about it.

2. The bigger argument against gay marriage is a more symbolic one: that it somehow destroys what marriage "is." Again, they push for the idea that it's between a man and a woman. But let me ask this: what is the difference between a man and a woman? Centuries ago, we used to believe that women weren't as smart as men and actually had smaller brains. This was proven false. We believed only men deserved voting rights. That got shut down. We believed women could never run for political office. Take a look at Hillary Clinton, Michele Bachmann, etc. So here's the question: what is the difference between a man and a woman? I'd say it's not much. As I recall from my AP Psychology class, the difference between male and female is slight and almost entirely physical: society and stereotypes just bend the two to make the difference look more significant. If we come to the conclusion, then, that there is very little different between a man and a woman, then shouldn't they be interchangeable while still being able to call it marriage?

There may be other arguments. "Homosexuality is disgusting." Okay. I don't like the "acts" either as a straight male. I also hate coffee. Am I going to pass a law saying no one can drink coffee? Regardless of whether you believe sexual orientation is "voluntary" (I sure don't) you can be put off by the acts. For a lot of straight people, that's natural. But just because you don't like something doesn't mean other people that do aren't allowed to.

"Homosexuality is a sin." By what criterion? One may say that because of the Bible, that's recognized as a sinful act. But many, many people don't follow the Bible and don't recognize it as a sin. Again, you're free to see it as one, but until you can provide a compelling reason why everyone should see it as a sin, there's no reason everyone should buy into that interpretation.

Other reasons end up completely trivial. "It causes STD's" is silly since many heterosexual couples acquire them, gay people can use protection, and falsely assumes gay people are promiscuous. In fact in a lot of cases these are long term relationships that span for several years of fidelity to the partner. "It can't produce children" is lulz since barren couples can't either, and many couples don't want children for several reasons.

•Do you think religion is an excuse for not allowing other people to be married to someone of the same gender?

Yes, and most arguments against it have been primarily religious. I'm not a religious person, though I can respect different religions and customs. Yet what we see far too much of is religious groups imposing their values on others by defining what marriage is. "But allowing gay marriage is doing the same thing" you say. Not really. Telling gay people that they can't get married is imposing religious values on potentially non-religious people, or at least ones that don't believe gay people can't get married. Allowing it simply says that certain religions and beliefs can't impose. If it "imposes" anything it's that discrimination sucks. Again, allowing gay marriage doesn't impose on heterosexual couples because it does nothing to hurt them and allegations that it "diminishes" their marriage are silly.

•What do you think about the theory of Homosexual Marriage, Ruining/Harming society?

Unfounded. In fact, a notable Republican who worked in campaigns (for Bush iirc) recently explained why he now doesn't mind gay marriage. There's nothing that says gay marriage erodes at family or society in any way. There's nothing compelling that says gay people who raise children somehow have "messed up" ones. Coming from two parents of the opposite gender, sure the idea of having two moms sounds weird. But you have to get past that and realize most likely, just like with a heterosexual couple, the child is going to be just fine. You can't hide people from "the gay" and them understanding it at an early age only helps to bring a more tolerant and understanding society.
Sounds concerning, but I highly doubt passage. In fact, if I recall, similar bills have been proposed in recent years and they've been blocked, preventing them from even being voted on. Also, we have crazy gridlock right now (U.S. House of Representatives has heavy Republican majority, Senate has slight Democratic majority, but requires 60/100 votes to actually get anything through) so there's a good chance it won't even pass. In the past year, Congress has only managed to pass 15 bills, and a bunch were just naming buildings and roads after people.

Not to say we shouldn't fight back though.
Yeah, I've always done Shadow before Spirit and did again in the 3DS version. It's just nice to have the Hover Boots ahead of time. You can technically get it before finishing Shadow, but if you're that far in, might as well finish the dungeon.

As a kid, Shadow Temple freaked me out (only managed to finish it with the TV on mute) but this time, I developed quite an appreciation for it and the puzzles. Still, I definitely prefer Spirit. The other Spiritual Stones had you returning to places like Death Mountain and Sacred Forest Meadow, but it was awesome to explore somewhere entirely new in the second part of the game. The boss was great and I loved how the dungeon was split into child/adult sections too.
It's a tough call, and a lot of it depends on whether your level has a midway point (or multiple ones). You can easily get away with not including one in 1-2 minute levels, especially early in the game. My levels tend to be on the longer side and are usually about 5 minutes. I time it to be 2:30 to the midway point and another 2:30 to the end. That being said, you have to consider that you're the one playing the level and that the average player will probably take longer, based on exploring and figuring things out. Lately, I've been trying to cut back a bit and make it 1:45-2:00ish for each half.

I think quite a few people can agree with me that quality is more important than length. A short, very well done level is great, as is a long one (as long as it doesn't have too much until a midway point). A level artificially bloated to be a few screens longer with repetitive and poor design is better cut entirely, even if it makes the level shorter overall. If you have a ton of creative and fun ideas that make a longer level, by all means go for it, but if you run out of ideas, it'll show in the design.
It's suburban. I couldn't stand living in the city and rural areas seem too away from civilization. I'm on a cul-de-sac with a few houses here and there and not too many cars go by. Then it's just five minutes to town and 20 to Portland, the biggest city in the state. The best part is my college, which is only 15 minutes from home. It's exactly what I was looking for when I searched for colleges, and it being so close keeps me living at home. Plus, it's beautiful here. We have a lot of forests and parks with trails. And no sales tax!
Two blocks I made for my level:

Drum 1 (bounces you on the first and second frames, acts like cement otherwise)
Drum 2 (bounces you on the ninth and tenth frames, acts like cement otherwise)
For some reason I thought this one was already in the ROM.

Requesting 3C for Electricity.
