Tip: Never put a Hammer Brothers Sprite near lava. After being killed, it will still throw hammers until it sinks or goes off-screen.

Story: A long time ago...

The Mushroom Kingdom was ruled by a dark, mean monster. His name was Onyx.

He used dark spells to spread sorrow, despair and destruction to the land.

However, an ancient Hero was able to defeat him, and the peace returned to the land. Then, he locked its soul into a single orb, the Orb of Power...

He then sealed the Orb in the depths of the Moon, never to be seen again.

Ages passed, and the Orb of Power was eventually forgotten...

Hi! I have a problem using guide lines (and guide lines end) in a custom castle tileset. The tileset specifics will have bad graphics so I used the 16x16 tile editor to make a tile act like tile 93 with graphics I set. I also used tile 96,97,98 and 99 for guide line ends and gave it some other graphics. But when I use them and put a line-guided sprite on it it... pass throught! I tried with grinders, chainsaws and the brown platform, it always pass throught!

Please help!
Yes, I have a level that already uses one, and the 2nd World (the Snow one) map has a totally custom one. And I already said I was looking for grass graphics that I liked, but I've not encountered them yet. I also have the Wieza Niebo (or something like that) graphics from ASMWCP and I'm searching for the real name of the graphics used in the Sky Sancuary (the techno one with the Ah God X-Naut Fortress song ^^).

Out of that, I also rounded up every block that wasn't (dialogue block, transparent block, On/Off block and even that block with a circle in it).

But yes, I agree with you. We played the game sooo much times we need a little refresh...
After all of this, I decided to make a custom palette for the grass world. The green is a little bit smoother than before, but when trying to make a good palette I almost got the original, so I darkened a bit some things, made the walls clearer and the water darker and the waves are not green anymore but they are light blue with a touch of green, because the bordersof the water were becoming awful. Wait an hour, and I'll come with screenshots IN ACTION because I'll ask my sister to press the Print Screen button when I'll tell her to press it. I tried Joy2Key, I already use it for making savestates on my controller but this tool can't detect the Print Screen button...

Seems pretty good! I like the graphics and palettes, both in levels and in the OverWorld.

Also, pretty good level design, you also seem to love the Hammer Bros. and stuff. ^^

Yes, I thought a lot about that, I already have X-Naut's Fortress (my favorite video game music, by the way, I'm always listening to it when creating levels (along with a few others)).

Graphics and level design are easy to see throught screenshots, but its kinda hard to listen to music throught them ^^.

By the way, I am searching for a good song for the grass, and also a background, since there was no one included. I already tried some of them but the palette made them crappy...

News: I finished porting the first level with the new graphics and "spiced" it up while limiting myself to Koopas and Rex because it is the first level. Its not time to put an army of hard enemies...

Well, it is a sky castle, but hey, its a great idea! Its real that it looks like an ice castle, so I'll use those for ice. I plan on using the Super Mario All-Star's SMB1 castle tileset for castles 1 and 4. I am looking for graphics in the same style than the others I have, I like having a thick layer of grass or snow or things like that.

Well, I think I'll keep the background I actually have (original SMW) for 2 reasons:

1. I modified the "2 SMAS BG in one" BackGround to make it work with my palette but it always look grey with pink. It must be that his custom palette was using a different slot from Dimentio's FG. But I can't use 2 custom palettes per level... Anyone knows what means "shared palette"?

2. It looks really nice like that, thought I will make the mountains a little higher.

For the ones that were here before the update, you seen the "story" label. Well, I removed it because I need to make it better and reasumable by 2 text boxes. I whould have liked to use the Cutscene tool but everytime I tried to patch it it crashed my ROM (no worry, I always make a backup). It's strange, because I patched LevelASM many times and it always worked!

Anyway, I have now 2 levels done (the first one and the cave one, secret exit included) but I'll have to work on the 2nd when I'll find good cave graphics INCLUDING background because I never liked the original one. 4 levels left before a DEMO! (including Mario's house).

Edit: I know its from Super Paper Mario... that is one of my favorite from that game because of the... retro style in it.

Hi, I'm stuck on an old computer that uses XP, I hack using my USB stick, but there is a problem. Each times I press F9 to save 16x16 editor, it is a XP shortcut for a folder (the place with C:, D:, F: and so on). It is not directly related to hack but it prevents me from hacking and its the only section that fits.

Edit: forgot to say it don't save...

Re-Edit: Even F5 on the browser don't work, it leads me on another window.

There is no one, its a VERY old keyboard...
It must be in the settings... My dad's one also uses XP and it works fine also. My uncle settled it up, so mabe he thought it was useful for that for playing in the source files, but it disables every F# function. Yes, EVERY! I tried e'm all and they all make appear a different window.

Edit: Okay, my computer is fixed, I can return to it. Thanks for trying, anyway.

Oh, its real, georgevssonic, I should stop thinking following a "this is a first level so its too easy" philosophy. Wait a little, and a bunch of enemies will join the level! Thanks also for the coin blocks advice!

Ooroo: Well, I think the water is just fine like that, I personaly never understood why water was moving so fast in the original. I mean, come on, its not a storm in the middle of the ocean, its a little river! Well, everyone has his own idea of the perfect water...

Random fact, did you knew NSMB Wii was hackable? I found a video shoving an eexact replica of the second level of SMW, YI2! Its freakin' awesome! When I'm thinking about that, I know I could do that, since I have the .iso for it.
Dark Bones, to be honest I spent about... well... all of my learning of everything. That's the first level I ever made, but I remade some parts many times, plus when I inserted custom graphics, I edited it a lot. By the way, your hack looks cool too! I'll play your demo after completing M&L: SS because I really need some inspiration for my levels. But a new one should be started soon because I wrote the beggining of a new one in the margins of my maths book in class ^^!

But right now I have a problem. I wanted to insert custom graphics to make Mario's House but when inserting the MAP16PAGEG or something like that like I was doing normally it always inserts on page 2 (the 3rd one)! The problem is, its my CUSTOM BLOCKS PAGE!!! I tried everything, when I insert it there's nothing where I am and I scroll to page 2 and they are there! Does anyone knows why?
Hi, I made a little progress, the intro is almost finished! I am using the SMRPG text ExGFX to make it!



That robot is the robot of the X-Nauts, but its not... I think his name was Von Grapple. Its not him. Well, to make it short, Peach thinks its a danger for the Kindom and sends us on a quest to find out about the robot.
Well, for now I take a pause because hacking is only for fun and doing to much... well, breaks the fun. But the biggest factor is that I tried Golden Egg (YI editor) and I love it. By the way, do you know why, when entering the first level, Yoshi stays infinitely in the black screen? It happened when I changed the sprite tileset for the one from "Visit Koopas and Parakoopas" to use Koopas.
Well its fixed now, I think its because he was starting IN a tile (at a moment I made it go up 1 tile and I forgot I should't do that). Well, its pretty fun, but the best I could have is a M&L SuperStar Saga Editor... One of my favorite game EVER.

Well, like I said, its already fixed. Also, DarkBones, I'll search for it right now!

Edit: I tried to use Transheldontknowwhat hex editor to change the "Welcome" music, I followed the FAQ's instructions.

"Change the byte at 0x01924 to whatever song you want to use. Alternatively, you can type "A9 00 8D FB 1D" at the same address to be able to change the intro music in Lunar Magic."

But 0x01924 doesn't exist! Is my ROM headerless? If yes, then NOOOOOOOOOO I HAVE TO RESTART ALL MY HACK!!!

It brings me to the right place, thanks! But they say in the F.A.Q. to replace it to A9 00 8D FB 1D but there is only 4 slots, not 5! Do I have to overwrite the first slot of the next byte?
Well, I'm actually restarting the intro from scratch and the only song I found that was fitting was... the original one!

Also, I THINK I saw a SuperStar Saga tileset somewhere in the Graphics section. I want to use e'm for some levels (the same way as the 3D rocks in YI) with Beanie graphics and the music with it.
Well, it would be... AWESOME! So, could you please do it for me? You'll have credits! If it helps, I found that there was already some graphics, but only the Oho Oasis, but I want the BeanBean Outskirts.

Also, I got ideas for new levels.
There will be a vertical one with both the sprite for connecting the left and right side of the level and the one that disables down vertical scrolling, hoping they are compatible and it would be similar to Kid Icarus.

Another level (a castle) that would use the Custom Gem / Emerald tileset from XradicalD. If you look at his 2nd screenshot you'll see green and red version. Well, ON/OFF blocks would be the main thing in this level and the palette would switch from green to red and red to green.

I have plenty of others ideas, too!

Edit: I'm taking a pause, I'm trying to learn Reggie!, the NSMBW editor! It looks cool!

Edit2: In my hack I'll also try to use Mario graphics from SS. I've seen it before in the flash game "Super Mario 63" from Runouw! (By the way, awesome flash game there!).
