Yoshi gets what that PM was asking, now. Yoshi thinks Pikachu's Mission is the cooler name.

Yoshi has been working hard on this hack, which means that v1.4 of yoshi's hack is almost done. Yoshi has around six levels to go now.
Like yoshi said in a previous post, yoshi is trying to find ways of making this funny or at least odd. For example, one of the new levels that yoshi has made so far has a pretty strange hazard in it. Anyone playing yoshi's hack won't know what it is until you see it. Yoshi won't say what it is here, however. Yoshi has a few more ideas for levels with strange hazards in them or odd concepts.
A note to georgevssonic: Hows the beta testing of yoshi's hack going?
If you are beta testing yoshi's hack, yoshi wants you to post any flaws you found in the hack here soon. Yoshi wants to fix the flaws of v1.3 (that I didn't know about) before yoshi submits v1.4. If you aren't beta testing the hack, let me know and yoshi will submit v1.4 once it's finished and playtested.

For the most part, yoshi uses the original palettes for the levels, but some levels do use custom palettes or at least certain things in some levels use custom palettes. Yoshi will use custom palettes when it is definetly required to make the level look good. In that picture of yoshi's house, the sleeping yoshi uses a custom palette, for example.
One thing that may set this hack apart from most of the other hacks on this site is that it is going to be silly or at least have its silly moments. The silly moments come from either the obstacles mario has to face, or from the messages. Like yoshi said in yoshi's previous post, one of the new levels contains a strange hazard in it. It managed to turn a rather ordinary level into one of the stranger levels in the hack. Yoshi will try to think outside the box to come up with interesting levels for this hack.
Update: Yoshi decided to make more of an effort to use custom palettes in the hack. Don't worry, yoshi won't make palettes that will make your eyes bleed.

Yoshi has some more things to say about the hack today. First, yoshi used more custom palettes. Yoshi didn't go crazy with them, but at least yoshi put more of an effort to use them. Also, just like yoshi said, none of them will make your eyes bleed. Yoshi has also made two more levels, so now there are four more left before yoshi submits v1.4. Once yoshi makes the four levels, yoshi will test out the entire hack and make adjustments, before yoshi submits it.
Yoshi is going to be away for a few days, though. so yoshi won't be able to work on the hack. Yoshi will be back sunday. Same bat time, same bat channel.
Edit: It seems that yoshi is not going away for a few days after all.

Yoshi wasn't sure what you ment when you asked that several days ago, so thats why yoshi asked that. Yoshi is almost done with v1.4, so as soon as that is finished, yoshi will PM you and temporarily upload it to my file bin when you respond, so that you can test it. Yoshi now has two more levels to make, so it won't be long before the new demo is finished.

Yoshi just finished the current demo, however it is not ready yet. Georgevssonic is playtesting it right now. When he finishes, yoshi will fix any problems he finds, playtest again, and then upload it.

That's odd. That glitch didn't happen when yoshi tested it. That wasn't supposed to be the end of the demo, either. Yoshi will fix that glitch and upload the hack again, so you can play world 3 and 4. Here are yoshi's comments for the things that need fixing:
-Yoshi doesn't get why mario does that, and yoshi has no idea how to fix that either.
-Yoshi will find a way to fix that so you can play the rest of the levels.
-Yoshi realizes that. That's why yoshi put in two reset doors.
-Those coin blocks are used to keep mario from going the other way. Yoshi moved them up so that mario is less likely to hit them.
-Yoshi doesn't understand why the game is slowing down because the game didn't slow down in those areas before. Yoshi literally tested those levels without touching anything and there was little to no slowdown.
-Yoshi will change the name of the "STAR ROAD" to "Warp"
-(Yoshi is actually talking in third person in the hack. I think I used the correct capitalization for that message, though).
-Don't forget that Courptendo made the overworld. Yoshi made a few improvements to it, but otherwise it is unchanged. Yoshi will fix at least some of those weird perspectives.
Yoshi will get to work and fix these problems, test it again, then PM you again. Sorry for that glitch. Thanks for playing yoshi's hack!

Yet again, georgevssonic is playtesting yoshi's hack. Yoshi fixed some of the things he pointed out above. When he finishes, yoshi will make improvements, test it out, and upload it.

Thank you for playing yoshi's hack again! Here's yoshi's comments on yours:
-Yoshi will try to fix that.
-That didn't really bother yoshi, but yoshi will fix it anyway.
-Want to hear the irony? Yoshi tried to avoid doing that while building those ledges.
Since changing those things won't alter the levels a lot, yoshi will just fix them and upload the hack.

Yoshi fixed a few more of the perspective problems on the overworld, as well as the things you pointed out, except for the block color thing, which yoshi can't figure out. Yoshi is going to upload it now.

Yoshi just submitted v1.4 of yoshi's hack. If anyone has any questions or comments about yoshi's hack, post them here.
Update: Yoshi realized that yoshi accidentally wrote that there are 34 exits in the hack when there is actually 33. Silly Yoshi.
Another Update: Yoshi was looking in the tools section and noticed something. In the description for the blocktool (which I use), it metioned that it can cause slowdown in the hack. That might explain why slowdown was occuring in yoshi's hack for no apparent reason. Yoshi will need to learn how to use Blocktool Super Deluxe in the future to avoid this problem.

While yoshi isn't going to release a new version of yoshi's hack for awhile (unless v1.4 is removed), yoshi will, in addition to obviously making more levels, continue to tweak the existing levels. Yoshi will make the shorter levels, such as Iggy's castle a lot longer, for example.
As an extra challenge for anyone who plays yoshi's hack see if you can find all the yoshi coins in the levels that have them. (Gotta catch 'em all, Pokemon! ... Oh wait, I was talking about Super Mario World wasn't I? Oh well, Gotta collect 'em all, Yoshi Coins!)
Note: For some reason, the fifth yoshi coin in Wendy's Castle sometimes doesn't appear. Yoshi doesn't think it is sprite tile memory issues, since yoshi coins are objects, not sprites. For that level, pretend there are four yoshi coins instead of five.

|
|
|
Actually georgevssonic, that yoshi coin isn't on a subscreen boundry. If you want to see that there is indeed five coins in that level, go into Lunar Magic, look at level 11C (the first part of Wendy's Castle) and you'll see four yoshi coins. Then go to level 94 (the second part of Wendy's Castle), and you will see the fifth yoshi coin. That coin in the second part is the one that sometimes doesn't appear. Yoshi has seen that coin there before, so it's not like yoshi forgot to put in five yoshi coins in that level.
As for the coin level, yoshi will make a few improvements to it to make it less bland, and yoshi will move it somewhere where you won't have to beat it if you don't want to.
Edit: Rank Up!
HP: +2
Attack: +3
Magic: +2
Defense: +3
Humor: +2

Yoshi doesn't know how to create a userbar, but yoshi created a post footer that has the link to yoshi's hack. If the link changes then yoshi will update the link.
With this hack, yoshi doesn't plan on making a lot of puzzles in it. All the switch palaces will have puzzles in them, and so will Bowser's Castle. Speaking of Bowser's Castle, yoshi has an idea with it. When you enter Bowser's Castle, there will be two paths: The brutal path and the puzzle path. Both lead to the same place, but the brutal path will be a tough platforming section, while the puzzle path will have a tough puzzle to solve in it. Oh and with the switch palaces, yoshi put in reset doors, that reset the puzzle, as well as the side exit enable sprite, if you want to leave the switch palace before you press the switch.
Update: Hey, georgevssonic. You know that row of invisible coin blocks that is in Super Koopa Plains? Yoshi just replaced them with upside down clouds that allow mario to pass through them in all directions, but up.

Yoshi has been making a few improvements to the hack, like yoshi made a few levels, like Iggy's Castle, longer. Yoshi also has a few more ideas on how to make this hack funny. One thing yoshi did was inspired by Chaos Complexx: a bonus room filled with 3-up moons.
In Chaos Complexx, it is a room filled with 3-up moons that mario can't actually get. In yoshi's hack, it's a room filled with easy to get moons that mario actually refuses to grab. Here is some screenshots:

It's not just the moderators that think things like this are unreasonable, even mario thinks this is unreasonable.

Seriously, mario will not collect any of the 530 moons in this room.
Yoshi will continue to find silly things to put in the hack, whether it is a new idea or a new take on an old idea.
|
|
|
|
Yoshi will be careful if yoshi does something that can break one of the hack submission guidelines, because yoshi doesn't want yoshi's hack to be rejected because a moderator thought yoshi broke a rule, when yoshi actually didn't. That's why yoshi made a message appear when mario enters that room. In fact, the 3-up moon room may be the only time where it looks like yoshi broke a rule, but didn't. If yoshi does something like this again, yoshi will not "break" one of the rules that would cause yoshi's hack to be instantly removed, such as floating munchers.
As for courptendo's comment, yes, yoshi is using bowser as the final boss, because yoshi doesn't understand ASM yet or how to insert custom sprites.
Edit: Ninji'd

That is a pretty good idea Blue_raven, although that would mean changing what mario says if yoshi puts a real 3-up moon in that room.
On the other hand, it would give that room a purpose, beside being a silly room full of fake moons and nothing else.

Yoshi has another udpate on the hack. Yoshi has been using ExGFX to change the look of some levels. Fore example:

Before...
and after. (I fixed the hideous background palette and uploaded an updated picture of this level.)
Yoshi plans on making all the levels in the first world have Yoshi's Island graphics. (The level in those pictures is actually a world four level, but I will move it to world one because I think it is too easy for a world four level.) None of the other worlds will have a theme like this, but yoshi will use ExGFX whenever necessary.

That cutoff looking pipe shouldn't be too hard to fix. Using these ExGFX can sometimes be tricky, because it isn't always obvious how the different tiles are supposed to go together. A perfect example of that is when Yoshi downloaded the Donkey Kong Country: Oil Drum Alley graphics on this site. Trying to figure out how they are supposed to go together is proving to be next to impossible.
