On question 20, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Do you mean setting event tiles over each other on separate events?

Open the ROM in your tile editor, the graphics are down near the bottom.

Also, in response to naming that Maple Story tune, I probably would have gotten it without the hint, no game is responsible for wasting more of my potentially productive hours grinding away.

That sounds like the Excess Express at dusk, from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. One of my favorite areas from the game.
EDIT: And just in case, it is also played at Riverside Station.

Heh, I love that game so much it's unhealthy.
EDIT: And according to some research, the other answer should be Ikaruga - Butsutekkai
EDIT2: Also, pretty irrelevant, but ever since I heard a few of your Cave Story ports, I decided to try it out. Thank you for leading me to such an awesome game with an awesome soundtrack.

Mischief Makers - Level 2-4, and level 2-8 (I think) is where this is played, but at a higher tempo. I don't know if that means it's the wrong song or if my emulator just plays it that way. Either way, I aced this game almost 10 years ago, and it truly is a shame that it's so obscure.
Also, if I may make a suggestion, I think it would be great if after this contest is all finished that you could possibly list your sources for these songs, because I'd certainly enjoy to hear more from some of the games I haven't played.

Also, I'm fairly certain there was another thread on this very subject, so don't think this is the first exposure to the psychotic mess known as IWBTG that SMWC has had, I'm pretty sure most of the users are already familiar with it.
And also I totally beat it on all 3 of the "possible" difficulties, as well as collected the secret items and beaten boss rush mode with no deaths. I love this game.
