Hello,
I am fairly new to SMW hacking. I have been working on a custom boss lately, and I decided to test it.

GFX Question and stuff-
I made the graphics for it and inserted them into lunar magic, but they do not use the same pallets that show up in yy-chr. I later realized that, for whatever reason, I have to load a pallet file in yy-chr for the colors I used when creating the gfx to show up (luckily, the pallet was backed up earlier). How do I make it so that lunar magic (and the game itself) will load my pallets?

Code question-
My boss was made using the Ultimate no0b Boss (or something like that). I followed the instructions for choosing the sprites graphics (I had to identify the top-left 8x8 section of each 16x16 tile; using the numbers that show up at the bottom of the 8x8 editor."0x440" appears as one of the tile's numbers, so I identify the last two digits, "40"). However,in-game, this tile "0x440" does not appear....

I shall post a copy of my asm file if necessary, but for now, I will show some screenshots...

YY-CHR:

Lunar Magic 8x8 Editor:

In-Game (Boss):
@yoshicookiezeus

That worked. Thank you very much! Now I suppose I will head on over to the graphics section (assuming there is one) to find out about my palletes...

Thanks again!
EDIT: I guess there is no graphics section... I will go look for a yy-chr thread instead.

Could you explain the part for choosing your palette colors on ultimate noob boss a little more in-detail? lol I didn't understand all of it...
This is probably the best hack I've ever seen in my time of hacking (several years). I absolutely love the overworld and the concepts, and everything is well-rounded. You blend the FGs and the BGs so well, and you make original concepts and designs. Keep up the good work, Teo! I've always wished I had good level design skills, but just seeing that you have so much potential makes me happy. Remember that you will have all of our full support backing you up! If you need something looked up, if you are ever without inspiration or ideas, then you just ask us: we will always be happy to help you!

Keep up the good work, man!
P.S. I have a little something I whipped up to keep you going... :P

Haven't been here much due to doing stuff for summer break, so i decided to stop by...
Keep it up, Teo! You got some awesome stuff comin in. The snow effects are amazing! Also, how goes work on the overworld? I can't wait to see it.

Those are some pretty cool ideas there! I always had the idea of making a hack where bowser won, and you kinda work your way backwards i.e. mario starts in bowser world, and then the last area is peach castle.

For the dark/evil area with the trees:
Nice blending in there, you made a great choice for the BG. I wonder what the music will sound like? :P

Yay! Screenshots! The worlds look even better than anyone could've ever imagined! 11/10.

the only thing i would note is that on the mercury planet screenshot, there is a weird line thing. Or maybe thats just bowser's eyes... lol. Well, I circled it in blue anyways:

Everything is coming into shape, Teo. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see this hack when it is finished. And, you know what? I think this isn't a hack. I think its an entirely new game. So I can't wait to see this *game* when it is finished!

Well then, I'm gonna make it my job to reply anyways :P lol.
Nice, Teo! You've done a lot lately, so make sure you take some breaks every now-and-then to get some rest. Remember, you don't have to do everything on your own: you've got all of us here, ready to back you up. Also, congratulations on finishing the fourth world! I can't wait to see how everything will fit into the final product. Keep up the great work!

good to hear, Teo! Also, to comment on your level preview, it seems like its coming along very nicely. I wonder if there will be some kind of ice powerup in this world... guess ill find out when its done. I've always liked bullet bills, and i have no idea why!

Well, back to the topic, maybe in a future level you could use some kind of "frozen enemies". Like in NSMBW level 9-7, except you dont only use frozen munchers. :P

Offtopic: So.... how was your vacation? xD

Penguins!!

That enemy just made this my favorite world. xD
This level seems like it will be very fun to play. It reminds me of some of the puzzle-platformers were you have to do something before you can beat the level.

I figure ExAnimation is what changes what the water/ice looks like right? Never got around to messing with that stuff... guess i'll go look up a tutorial sometime.

Overall the level concept seems pretty solid. That will make a great level! Keep it up Teo! :P

Not sure if this (or similar) was asked before, but I don't feel like looking through this thread at the moment.

When i try to select a graphics file for ExAnimation, it doesnt load right... have a look:

See the bottom? Any ideas?

Are there going to be Giant Penguins? xD
These kinds of levels are always the most fun, especially when they have not only a big version of the level, but a version where everything is small. Ah, but with ICE? That is a new idea! I think this will be a challenging, fun level, and I can't wait to put my mario skills to the test.

This Ice World just keeps getting better and better! Keep it up, Teo! :P

Wow, I've been really busy lately with school stuff...
Yay, a release! I will see what this mysterious thing is right away.
Will post my thoughs/ideas about it later.

EDIT: Wow, that was a pretty cool level. I died the first time I played the level because of a giant plant :P
I see the igloo-thing on the world map, and I can't wait to see whats in store for that level.

Sorry about never replying to your PM Teo, I have just recently finished some big school projects. I have much free time now, and would be happy to test this :D (if the position is still open).

Umm I think the only ASM related problem is the touching a veggie thing. You need to use Map16/ExAnimation to make it turn into a block and to animate it.

Thanks :D ! I'm sure it will be a very enjoyable hack. Now, lets take a look at those screenshots...
The backgrounds in screenshots 3 and 4 look fantastic with the foregrounds you chose! It really gives that "Icy Wonderland" kind of feel to the levels. The "warming tool" is a neat idea, haha. I'll probably freeze to death a few times in that level :P
This is some pretty awesome stuff, Teo. I can't imagine how the next world will be able to top off these levels! I am getting excited just THINKING about what could be up next. Keep up the awesome work!!

Sheesh, have i been gone from SMWCentral THAT long??? There is tons more awesome stuff here! 2 new pages of comments... what!? I guess I need to keep a better eye on the calendar xD
This is some pretty amazing stuff going on here, Teo. This hack as a whole was already really cool and the hard work put into it was inspiring on its own, but... now your going through it again! That's what I call strong dedication, and I'm happy that I've been around to see this develop so much. Hard to believe your already done with 5 worlds! I think that this will become one of the greatest hacks out there for SMW when it is finished, and I can't wait to check it out fully when it is released. No matter what anyone else says, this hack will always be rated #1 in my book.

Keep up the amazing work! We are here for you, so if you need any help with all of that revamping your doing, don't hesitate to ask!
