Is it possible to have a fifth Yoshi Powerup?
So I have the Bombshell Koopa - the Koopa that explodes when stomped. I want to create a new powerup for Yoshi when he eats this Black shelled Koopa.
So, is it possible to have Yoshi have some kind of new powerup that whenever he has a black Koopa Shell and spits it out, it shoots out and explodes on contact with an object or enemy?
Also, is it possible to have a Black Yoshi variation?

I understand that no one will ever create one for anybody, I just had the idea.

Oh I'm sorry. When I posted the thread, my dad and I were running late for a school conference, so I skipped the thread. I've read, and will remember it from now on.
Originally posted by DDM295A simple way to make a Black Yoshi variation would be to change the colour of the Yoshi with YYCHR; it won't change how it works though and will override a previous colour, at least that's what my very curt knowledge of YYCHR tells me.
Well, I see if that will be helpful.
Originally posted by SonikkuI recently started playing with the code around Yoshi's eating routine recently (for my own purposes). As hard as everyone in the thread is saying, it isn't extremely hard if you made a few work-arounds.
If you happen to learn ASM, some points of interest would be at $01:F14B, which is what determines the abilities given to what colored shell, and $01:F1F1, which as far as I know, handles what should happen if Yoshi spits out a shell.
Oh! At least I discovered something with this thread. Thanks for that!

Please lock this thread! Thank you for all the answers!

Wait, wouldn't it be better to duplicate the Moon code and tweak that to so that it give 5 lives instead of three, so I can have both the Moon and a 5-Up?

This may be very minor and it is only a pet peeve of mine...but:
The Bill Blaster seems kind of...how should I say this...unnoticeable?
I mean, I can see it but...it doesn't stand out! That's it!
It is "Mario" styled, but it is doesn't look interesting like the other "Mario" objects and sprites!
But, that may just be me.
Any who, GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!

So, is it possible to have two different Graphics for the Turn and Brick blocks without any of the two overwriting each other? If so, how?

These are just me...:
The ledges with with one edge "edged", and the other "edgeless" in the ground of Plato Fields 2. I don't know though...it seems impossible in real life but...are the "edgless" side supposed to stick out?
The "unattached" donut bridges in Plato Pass.
Well, these are of no help to anyone but me though, so ignore the ones I said if you want to.

Things you should really fix:
This Yoshi Coin:

It's transparency is overwriting the the handrails.
This castles' candles:

Light the candles.

And other than that, this hack looking great!
Also...
I LOVE THE PALETTE OF PLATO OVERPASS <3
Keep up the good work!

WELCOME TO SMWC! Try looking into other hacks before starting your own, so you can have some questions answered, as they are probably have been asked before!
(...edited post. Just go with it)

@1UPdudes: Yeah...what I said was pretty minor. I agree it's hard to be creative with the shooters.
Other than that, nice doodles, HyDef. =D
Keep up the great work!

Yes, it's probably the work of the patch mentioned above.

Is there a BBCode I am missing that does the alignments (right, center, left, justify) or were they not added?
Also, am I doing something wrong? Because every time I highlight something then click the bold and the like, the tag comes up at the very end of the post. Is it that the way it is, or am I doing it wrong?

Oh thank you! And I guess I'll have to get used to the BBCode works here.
Yay! I can justify and center now!

Theft, like jokes, books, music, and the current state of the US Economy, are subjective. No matter what your opinion is, or no matter how much people argue about it, the masses' ideals of thievery will still differ from each other.
But anywho, since this is about an individual's humble opinions about theft, I'll explain my view on it:
When people think of stealing, we think "Oh someone takes something without getting permission."
Very basic, yes? So it's definitely stealing if I go to Wal-Mart and steal a 3D TV, right?
Now, let me explain the different kinds of thievery:
QuoteProfit Theft: Stealing a product that could have made profit to whoever was selling it. So Wal-Mart wouldn't be too happy to find out they lost an expensive Sony 3D TV.
WAIT - does that mean we are stealing from Nintendo?
The plain and simple answer is: Yes.
But...(see below)
QuotePlagiarism: Stealing someone's idea and/or hard work. So it's stealing if I use "For score and seven years ago" in my speech about the US Economy, unless I cite that I took it from the Gettysburg Address.
So...we aren't stealing from Nintendo because we are citing them as the creator of Super Mario World and the like?
Technically.
Although we are stating that we got it from Nintendo, ROMs are still illegal, as they steal the hard work of the creator(s) of the game.
WAIT- SO WE CAN STEAL OTHER THINGS FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S HACKS? (gets idea...MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHA)
The plain simple answer is: HELL TO THE NO!
We, as hackers of one of the best Super Mario Bros. ever, give credit to Nintendo and the Mario team. So it WILL and DOES (erm...redunduncy?) apply to other people's hack.
First, why are we taking those graphics/sprites/blocks/etc from that awesome hack anyways? Because we like it. Why do we hack SMW anyways? Because we like it. Because we commend and credit Nintendo for SMW, we should also commend and credit that idea you took from that awesome hack.
QuoteEmotional Theft: Stealing a person's emotional and social life. So it's stealing if I rape some seven year old girl, since I would've stole that poor little kid's life.
So...how does this apply this?
Hmm...let's make this sound and simple:
You made the best hack ever.
Because your hack is awesome, someone ripped gfx and stuff and used it in his own hack without your knowledge.
Before you know it, practically everything from your hack was taken without permission.
Posting something on the net is pretty risky, actually. Post the wrong thing, you're dead. I'm sorry, but even if you delete it, it would NEVER go away. (sadly...trolls and flamers need to die...but, they never will...)
This can affect you emotionally, as your hack has been destroyed and recycled in front of your eyes in a matter of days.
~
These are the three most basic kind of stealing out there.
Anyhow, it all comes to this:
Have a conscience. You, as a person, should know if you're doing the right thing or not. No matter how much you tell a person to change, they would never change until they realize it. You have the power to decide what is justified and what is unjustified.
Theft is NEVER justified; Robin Hood was doing the wrong for the right reasons (although that's a whole other debate; See! Literature is very subjective also!)
Currently, our hacking is NOT harming Nintendo largely - if we are, it just dust under the soles of their shoes the size of the smallest atom. But taking things from other people without permission, is HARMING the creator - the thief IS stealing their hard work and doesn't even have the grace to credit them.

Just a little note:
Your levels are empty. They're boring looking, Try adding coins, bushes, blocks, and the like.
Also, you don't have to explain every single detail of the screenshot. Let the pic speak for itself, you don't have to say "Mario is jumping over the shell which was kicked by the Koopa on the left."
Also, overworld editing tutorial are the same for EVERYTHING. Starting from scratch doesn't affect how OW editing works, so tutorials for the OW still work.

What should I use as a Press Down to Pass ledge? I keep seeing those small log-like GFX, but I can't seem to find them. So what should I use?
Also, what is the best waterfall GFX out there?

Well in my experiences at various forums, their is some sort of "New Replies" menu and "Your Threads/Thread's You've Posted In" menu.
The New Replies usually notifies you (NOT THROUGH PM) of a new post in a thread you posted in. (Most of the time, there is feature that stops you from getting these notifications)
This is NOT like the Subscribe feature, where you can follow a thread you didn't post in.
New Replies use a link to the thread, or to the latest post.
Also, most New Replies systems are not recorded, but at the moment you clicked the notification, the notification deletes itself. Although both non-self-delete and self-delete systems have their own advantages and disadvantages.
~
"Your Threads" systems are self-explanatory - its a system that shows the threads you've made. This will be greatly helpful to people with many threads.
~
These two different systems will be much more efficient, and doesn't cause clutter (If forums that have 12, 284 active users and still have a smooth system, then it won't be a problem for this forum)
Sorry if this is WAY different from the Subscribe feature!
