Tip: If you plan on making long levels, be sure to include multiple midway points. A patch for this can be found in the Patches section.

I am new to SMW hacking. I have got a few n00by questions.

1. What is layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3? I saw a few generators such as layer 2 smash but I dont know what they do.

2. How can I rip backgrounds and objects from other games?

3. How do I enable the 'no yoshi intro' for a level?

4. Why do custom sprites show a red cross in Lunar Magic, but when I play the sprites show properly? Is it possible to make the sprites show properly in Lunar Magic?

5. Are there any good tutorials on how to make patches? I can code custom blocks easily but I do not know to make xkas patches.

Thank you. :)
How can I make a sprite shoot out fireballs or hammers?
I am making a miniboss through the knowledge I have learned from the sprite programming tutorial so far.
I just need to know how to make a sprite spawn these projectiles so I can finish my sprite.
Hello SMWcentral. I am Icemario23. Just recently got into SMW hacking, however I am a quick learner. The first thing that intrested me and grabbed my attention was ASM, so I am learning more about this programming language. I have already learned to code some simple sprites, and some semi-advanced blocks. Patches are slightly more confusing to me, but that problem shouldn't remain for long. I guess thats it, I hope I enjoy my time staying here.
Yes, ASM is not as hard as people let on, it is simple to learn if you dedicate your time and effort to learning it.
