Hello everyone; I've been aware of this site for a good while, couple of years at least, but I haven't really touched the forums. The main attraction for me was, obviously, the Hacks. Being a SMW hacker hasn't really appealed much to me; though I've messed around in Lunar Magic, editing the first couple of levels (they weren't horribad, at least to me and my brother), I haven't really had that spark that makes me want to hack the game. However, that may be due to my lack of knowledge on the matter and how daunting it looks, especially after playing some really great hacks like Secret of the 7 Golden Statues. Perhaps I'll get a bit of inspiration at a later time. More than likely I'll only start out designing single levels for collabs or something, but I'm by no means good. And no, that's not just artist's self-degradation; I am completely new to the hacking scene and as such I'll probably embarrass myself. I'm more of a "player" than a "hacker", anyway. I enjoy playing and testing other people's hacks more than making them, and as such if you need a beta tester or something for your hack then you can count on me!
As for my background in game design, I've taken one class in C++ in high school my junior year, but it was a bit of a blow-off class; I didn't really learn much and I regret not paying more attention to the times we did work. For the final project of the year, we split into groups and had to make a game using Unity (the class was new and the teacher who was assigned to it was new to teaching it, so we all decided that we would work toward learning game design stuff with our C++). However, it was extremely clunky and difficult for my team to use, so we opted for Game Maker and created a simple scrolling shooter game. Years before this, though, I was infatuated with a game creator called RPG Maker VX (I'm hoping to find a decent crack for VX Ace) and I absolutely loved it. I was never able to finish any of my game designs, because this was the phase where my parents were really strict on what I could install on the computer so the only chance I had to use it was at my grandparents' house. I worked on the story elements, statistics and classes, scripts and plugins, items, and events, where my brother worked on maps and dungeons. We made a pretty good team; it was a shame I lost interest in RPG Maker (my game interests tend to cycle around wildly).
Now that I've got the exposition out of the way, I have a few first-timer questions to ask. First, how do I make a post layout? Is it even possible for a new user to do? Second, are titles user-added or given by moderators? Finally, which Hacks would you consider "must play" or "the best" of SMWC? Which ones really left an impact on the community as a whole?
Thanks for taking the time to read my massive text wall and I hope to have a good time with you all!

Of course not. Sol means "sun" in Latin and a few other languages. "Sun Reaper", or "Reaper of (the) Sun". I chose it originally (when I was younger) because it sounds like "soul" but has since taken on its own identity.

Full Name: Zephiur Nathaniel Aernheit
Nicknames: Zeph
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Race: Human
Abilities: Doesn't have "supernatural" abilities, but the Reactor built into his mechanisms allows him to utilize the latent energy of the world.
Occupation: Engineer/Mechanic
Eyes: Dusky Blue
Hair: Fire Red
Skin: Light western tan
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 161 lb
Likes: The simple life, working on his machines, kind folk, dry weather, order (but not necessarily law)
Dislikes: Uptight folk, wet weather, cowards and backstabbers
Strengths: Quick thinker, mechanized arm allow greater defense and power, Reactor abilities
Weaknesses: Reactor has limited use before having to recharge, mechanical arm works less effectively in cold, wet climates, Reactor abilities can only be channeled through his mechanical parts
Personality: Zephiur is a bit of a westerner stereotype; kind and honorable to those who do him good, and quick on the trigger to those who betray him. He's a bit gruff at times, but this shouldn't be taken personally. Zephiur was once rather brash and cock-sure because of his skill with the weapons he makes, but age has tempered his ego and made him the man of honor he is now. At times he can be a bit solemn, and more than likely contemplative. He thinks things through before rushing in headfirst, and usually comes out the better for it.
Appearance: Zephiur wears a black duster coat, unbuttoned and left open to show a maroon button up shirt loosely tucked into black "tough slacks", or slacks made out of jean material. He has dark, dusty brown boots with a small cuff at the top and with metal plating at the sole and surrounding his toe and heel, and at the top of his head sits a black western fedora rimmed with small silver studs. His blazing red hair is long, down to his upper back, and his dusky blue eyes seem to exude an aura of playful mystery, as if daring you to find out more. The right sleeve of his duster has been torn off, showing off his mechanical arm in its full bronzed glory. Sometimes he can be seen wearing a pair of red goggles that serve as an internal computer of sorts, as well as a targeting system for his weapons.
History: Born to one of the greatest engineers of Mekanos, the city of outlaws, Zephiur grew up in a somewhat dangerous environment. He learned defense from his father, as well as the craft of engineering. By the time Zephiur was 16, he had already crafted his own clockwork rifle. Sadly, his father died of a heart attack from the pride of his son becoming an engineer. Zephiur naturally took over the family business, but put his rifle away for good, feeling that it was his fault that his father died. Instead, he turned his skills towards becoming one of the Enforcers, Mekanos' equivalent of a police force. At the age of 20 he was accepted into the ranks, and crafted a pair of twin pistols to commemorate the occasion and serve as his weapons of choice for his life to come. However, during the crafting of said pistols, he messed up a calculation that ended up causing an intensely-focused reaction, slicing off his right arm and part of his torso. Lucky for him, the second-best engineer in all of Mekanos lived close by (these artisan types tended to stick together) and noticed the reaction and started helping Zephiur immediately. After several weeks of intense care and tinkering, Zephiur was fitted with a shiny new mechanical arm and part-of-torso. Zephiur didn't like it, because it felt too clunky, so he postponed his pistol development into building a better arm, adding in a slew of new features. During the process of building this arm, he had an epiphany for a reactor that could harness the latent elemental energies of the universe and condense them into a physical form. He went ahead and put this in the arm too, and found it could power his mechanisms on its own. After outfitting himself with the arm, he finished the pistols and went on his way.
