Yeah, I only have one vwfmessages.asm.
You can see the code here.
The only "long" message is Message0001, but I think that still shouldn't cause a problem.

I would really appreciate, if you look at the patch later, because stuff like that is currently too complex for me.

Edit: I just set up a new baserom and got no message about leaked freespace when applying vwfdialogues.asm.
Everything works as intended now and I got plenty of freespace left
(slogger output of the new ROM is here).
The ROM has the exact same amount of patches, sprites and other asm inserted.
But I don't want to repeat this process every two weeks, so it would be nice to find a solution anyway.

My guess is that this is the reason.
Open the Overworld editor and click Overworld -> Extra Options...
and uncheck "Allow level 24 to redirect screen exits based on coins collected and time remaining".

Too bad, the pictures you posted look really pretty.
The leveldesign seems to be good as well (which is not the case for a lot of hacks, so you already have that going for you).
I hope you can finish all your real life things and then continue working on this hack, because I was looking forward to see more of it.

Let's see if I've got enough time to get something done for this contest.
Just a short question:
Can I use the level I create in my own project after this contest is over? Today I started building a new level and since the contest has no particular theme I may as well try to get it done till the deadline.

No problem, we all have a real live #tb{;)}

Well, I used the print to check the allocated freespace.
I downloaded the newest asar version (just to be save), did it again and got the same result as you.

After checking the amout of freespace slogger detects, I noticed that it no longer decreases, if I just patch vwfdialogues.asm (multiple times).

So c might be the obvious solution.
But after patching ALL of my patches a few times on my rom, the slogger output still doesn't change.

I don't know what happend here, everything seems to be working now.
I guess porting it all to a new rom did somehow fix it.
Maybe I was using an old asar version, but I was sure that it was version 1.37.

I'll use this thread again, if this problem occures again, but right now everything seems to work fine.

Thanks for helping me with this, I really appreciate it!

And thanks for .bat, I had the same idea, but did it manually.

Just dropping in to tell you that I try to be online in irc for saturday (noon - evening) and sunday (evening - night). (UTC+01:00)
Sorry for not being available for such a long time.
I'm currently really busy and this is the best I could do.
I hope I can finish at least a few matches.

No.

Unless you give the player a health bar this always ends up being a pain in the ass.
And even then a lot of them are just not fun to fight.

the bosses of touhou mario 2 look alright though

Welp...this may be the only reason I will submit mine.
I got really busy with university stuff and it doesn't seem to get better over the course of the next few days.
At least you get to see a preview of my hack I guess...
And there is still hope that I have a few hours to create a few more screens.

Seems like I found another bug, but I don't know what causes it.

In the level "RUINS ON BLOOD" I get this if I run full speed into the goal.
I can't say if I'm doing anything else that is weird, but it only seems to happen while running.
It's only a graphical glitch, no crash etc.
Only the goal sequence is effected, after that everything works as intended

Edit: emulator: snes9x 1.54.1 for win32

Hi, I pmed k3fka about this issue a month ago, but it seems like he didn't have the time to add the trophy yet.
He also doesn't seem to be a staff member anymore so I decided to ask who I need to message about missing trophies.
Does anybody know?

Not really a bug but the exit counter shows only STAR151 exits, not STAR152, seems like you forgot to change that as well after updating the secret exit in the worst world.

Edit: and Leiras is misspelled in the credits as Lairas

I have to agree.
You (ft029) are implying that every judge gave this level 30/20/X, which wasn't the case.
There are a few sections in this level that aren't great like the drop or the chuck spam at various points. But overall it's alright.
It may not deserve a 60/60, but I think a 50-55 is easily understandable.

Edit: 50-55 obviously with the asthetics used in the contest -.-
Also that's what I think is understandable, that means I can see why someone gave this score within their range of subjectivity judging levels.

He applied asm code to relocate the position of the stem gfx.
It didn't get inserted cause no asm -> black squares

Btw you can jump on top of the midway section of stadium of plants and get to an unedited section of 106, but I guess it's not that important to fix this since you kind of need to go out of your way to find this and you don't softlock. (Endless bonus game yes, but there's a timelimit, so it's not really endless).

Is there a vanilla way to stop sprites on the subscreen (like rising mushrooms and the climbing koopas) from disappearing behind layer 2 in levelmode 0E?
If there isn't, is there any other way in vanilla smw to make layer 3 translucent in front of layer 1 and 2?

Nice statusbar, I really like it.
I just hope it's more compatible with other patches than the DKC statusbar #tb{;)}
Thanks for making #tb{:]}

I don't know which contest you played but last time I played this, all of these levels were made out of default gfx with map16 and (sometimes) custom music...

Great to have a discussion thread about all these things!

1)I'm against that, it's a nice gesture for all those people who did make the best desert level etc, but overall it doesn't really add anything to the whole concept of this contest. If you want to find out who can make the best ice level/ mini-game etc. then it would be better to have a seperate contest.

2)That seems to be a good idea! But I fear that some remixes won't be used unless the people voting also have to make a level with the theme they are voting for.

3)well...I don't really see the point. If you want go for it I guess...

4)why not, as long as the midway flag gets saved

5)the current one is fine, but if you can do something fancy I would like to see it#tb{;)}

6)not necessary, since there is no easy way to implement a "fastest players in the world" list and I've got the feeling that local highscores can't compare your time

7)no

8)only in extreme cases (see aperture laboratory)

9)no

10)better than 1), so yes

11)yes

12)well...I always am quite paranoid when it comes to the amount of exGFX files I have left, so I won't mind an increase, it's not like everybody will use all 20 files. 15 would still be more than enough imo

13)-18) No to all of them. the current rules are already a stretch, but I can see how the tiles are still kind of vanilla. with these rules you almost could allow any gfx...

19) wouldn't feel the same without the statusbar, I would say don't change it.

Oh and it would be cool if this patch will be included, matterhorn had this issue and it's only a bugfix after all.

Next time we have a kaizo contest I just make a normal level and submit that.

You notice that it's kind of stupid to submit kaizo levels to non kaizo contests?
If there were no kaizo contest I could understand it, but right now I can't see why kaizo levels are even made for vldcs.

when it comes to aesthetics I think the current point scale is good as long as it doesn't influence the score in other categories (and that shouldn't happen if the judge does a good job).
