Pablo did some tests and it seems like version 2.0.6 just doesn't work on Windows XP. Reading the changelogs it looks like 2.0 was the version that Windows 10 support was added, so my guess is anything before that should still work on XP. Newest one before 2.0 that I can find a link for is 1.9.4S, though there is a 1.9.5S somewhere, I don't have it and I couldn't find a link a for it.

Hopefully using an outdated version won't be too problematic. The alternative solution would be for you to upgrade your OS so you can actually use the current version.

1/10. it's a particularly bland and boring shot of a particularly bland and boring game.

8/10 looks quite nice, good colours and stuff, but the girl looks cold, she should be wearing pants on such a windy night.

goin to a high school friend's annual party in about half an hour. havent seen most of the people going in a while so itll be cool to catch up and its kind of a tradition at this point. shud b gud.

1. flame repellent - really good use of subbass and chiptune style arpeggios gave this track a lot of energy, which can be a challenge with smw samples.
2. finesse - builds nicely up to the chorus. all the details in the lead melody were really well done
3. oneechan to no bouken - well-done port but i think the song itself is really boring tbh
4. resistance - not a good song to try to port unsampled tbh. lots of build-up but the climax doesnt really hit as hard as it needs to cuz smw dist guitar/drums are so thin.

On their sophomore effort, the follow-up to last year's The Bone Age, the elusive music collective Pizza Stream offer up another hot slice of the eclectic and experimental sounds that made their debut so special. However, in some ways this feels more like a continuation of the first album than a new project in its own right, many of the lyrical themes and motifs from the previous album make a return here, and while they are just as relevant as they were previously, I can't shake the lingering feeling that I've heard it all before.

The features are a mixed bag as well. This album include tracks from several new collaborators in addition to the core piza stream group, and while this does bring a lot of diversity to the tracklisting, some of them work better than others. Infamously cute noise musician idol's contribution "I'M NOT" is a standout track. This track has a sharp socoiopolitical edge while still maintaining the irreverance and playfulness that put Pizza Stream on the map. I hope to see her continue to work with Pizza Stream in the future. Sinc-x's "banjo cockzooie" is interesting in that it is more of a skit than a musical track, but it serves as an effective transition between the two halves of the album and does a lot to push the narrative.

On the other hand, the track "when she succ u but u cum too early", featuring Magi, felt like it finished too soon and left me wanting more. And ergazoobi's "Lui finish ur fucking ogg" just felt like a misguided attempt at creating a "banger", and while it may appeal to a festival audience, it is rather obnoxious and in the context of the album, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Overall, while there are some definite highlights, such as "pest control" and the previously mentioned "I'M NOT", I feel like Pizza Stream are struggling to progress their sound beyond what we heard on their debut. Hopefully they will learn from this experience in order to give us a worthy successor to The Bone Age the next time around. Die-hard fans of the first album will find enough to tide them over here, but I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed.

I'm feeling a light to decent 6 on this thing. Tran

Welcome to the best March 2016 January 2017 edition of the monthly VGM guessing contest. You know the drill, there's a bunch of clips of a bunch of songs and you have to guess which game each song is from. The top three entrants will each win some prize which has yet to be determined but is probably some amount of money and/or games. Of course, it wouldn't be a guessing contest if the rules weren't slightly different from all the other ones, so here's how it's gonna work this time:
1. Correctly identifying the game that a song is from gets you one point.
2. If you are the only one to correctly identify a song, you get a bonus half point

That's it. Pretty straightforward.

The 103ish songs for this month's contest can be found here.

NOW 100% MEME FREE

Please submit your entries to me or Deputy BirkenStocks or Nameless or Leomon by 20:00 EST on Tuesday, February 14th.

also have fun i guess

I'm listening to Spiderland on vinyl right now cuz im patrician as fuck but tbh as much as its one of those standard hipster albums, it has that reputation because it's really fucking good. Would recommend to anyone into post-hardcore, post rock, math rock, etc.

Am i doing the 90s circlejerk right

ya this was an obvious highlight from the album. really good stuff.

not necessarily a mental illness i guess but here's a dope track about anxiety. beat is super fucking nice too.

You started the contest on January 31, thereby ensuring that most of the time spent on it would be in February. 4/10.

Well, there is exactly one track that I recognize (#93), so I'm not even going to bother submitting my guesses this time.

i mean as of now you'd place second if you submitted... I'm just sayin

we have a very low number of submissions right now, it seems we might have overdone it a bit on the difficulty this time around, anyone who listened to these should submit, even if all they have is guesses. you could still place.

i blame derpy tbh.

I know. It's not like I was blaming the game for it's suboptimal controls or anything. Of course I'm perfectly aware of the limitations of the DS. I'm just stating that the controls were something that bugged me a bit about the game and that, because of this, I would love another remaster on the 3DS or Switch.

You can totally blame the game. The decision to have a run button instead of a walk button was incredibly stupid and a major contributor to the crappiness of the controls.

But yeah I don't like sm64ds. The controls are bad, and the extra characters add nothing to the game except tediousness of having to switch between them, and Luigi breaks a whole bunch of the existing stars cuz his jump is so ridiculous. Switch stars and silver stars are boring. The new levels are okay I guess (tho i liked the ghost one better when it was called the lost woods). Some of the minigames are kinda fun I guess but to me it's an example of how a remake shouldn't be done, the new content mostly felt kinda lazy and insubstantial, and they made huge unnecessary changes to the game without addressing most of the original game's flaws.

There's like 2000 sega songs lol. a few from me. I didn't do an SOR3 song tho. I try to keep a rotating selection of ergacore (the silent hill 2 pick wasnt me this time cuz i'd have picked a better one tbh).

these were my picks. nameless will have the full answer key with numbers shortly im sure ;)

idk, there's a bunch of cool ones i guess but it's been a while since I played any. off top my top 5 is prolly
galaxy man
shadow man
solar man
fire man
bubble man

mm3 title screen is real good too.
