You could try palette animations. Click the SMB3 brick on the toolbar and set up palette animation of the foreground. Check what palette the FG uses and type it in the destination box (E.g., if your FG uses palette row 2 and colour 5, type 25). Then type animation frames in the frames boxes. To know what colour is which value, make a colour in the palette window and find its SNES RGB value (it will say it on the palette window).
That ExGFX uses FG1 and FG2 I think, so you still can't. You will have to not insert the ExGFX in FG1 and use SMW's orginal FG1. It won't make that much of a difference, you will probably still get the main Green Hill FG but not the decorations (flowers, waterfalls etc.). You should get the SMW pipes for sure, though.
Try posting it in the advanced hacking forums, maybe you will get some assistance there, because this stuff is not basic you know :P

Use xkas. Download it it from the tools section if you don't have it, then copy it (and cmd.exe) to your rom's folder. Then open the command line and type:

xkas.exe more.asm romname.smc

And then it will be patched to your rom. Don't forget to find freespace before patching it, otherwise some important data might get overwritten.
This is my first try at ASM, and I'm trying to make a block which 'steals' your coins. But its not working, Instead of losing 16 coins, I get 16 coins when touching it from the sides, and 0 when I touch it from above. What's wrong with my code?

I want to change the music that displays in level C5, the level with the Welcome music and the level just after the title screen. I tried replacing it with a song using Romi's addmusic through the addmusic.ini file where it says [MISC] 13: Welcome.txt. But when I insert the song, the same welcome music still displays. How can I get rid of it and put a custom song in there?
No, but I tried that as well. It still didn't work =/
The offsets were all -1, but the sides, top and bottom were 0. I tried your code, but that makes the coin counter reset. I want it to take away a certain amount of coins, not reset...

Also, may I know how offsets work in an ASM file? There is no option of offsets in an ASM file.

Are you sure you inserted it in the correct SP slot? Try SP3 if it's in SP4 or SP3 if it's in SP4. Also, make sure it is the correct ExGFX file, open it up in yy-chr and see.

That level is looking very nice, looks non-linear and fun! I really like that background as well ;)But in the first screenshot, it looks like the bridge doesn't connect properly, I'd suggest you tweak it a bit. Also, I don't like those cut-off vines, maybe you can add some ExGFX to the bottom of them to make them look alright. I just went through this thread now, and I'm really impressed by all these screenshots ;)
Also, make sure that the song you put the music number to an overworld song. Level songs don't work on the title screen.
