Can I have slot 80 for a Barrel Cannon?
Note: I set this one to only shoot in upward and upward-diagonal directions, and it uses palette C.

Sorry 'bout the double post, but I also need 329 for a Wind Block that pushes you down. Please set it to act like tile 02; I'm trying to create a whirlpool effect.

Hey, looks like a lot of fun so far, and the vertical segment sounds interesting, too. Perhaps you could accentuate the balloon theme of the level by adding some strung-up balloon decorations on the FG? Besides that, I like this so far!

That is...actually pretty awesome. I assume the room layouts will get even more tricky as the level progresses? Anyway, it's a really interesting idea, and the atmosphere seems nice as well, with the whole sky cavern theme.

This is an idea that just came to me a little bit ago. Perhaps we could create a logo that represents Norveg (the main villain, for those who don't know) and his entire industry, and plaster it on some of the various machinery, metal architecture, and weaponry in the hack. It's a simple idea, but I think it creates continuity, and it helps Norveg seem more omnipotent as a main antagonist without needing him to appear in too many cutscenes. I have an example...

...But it was brought to my attention that this looks more like a snake than a rat's head and tail, as was intended. Still, it demonstrates my general idea. Thoughts?

It's fire and ice, actually. Only three of the levels are exclusively fiery, and I'm pretty sure that area's where the most progress has been made so far.

Cross-posted from level thread (level 1D):
Originally posted by HailstormAlright, now that the whirlpools are up and running, I can post a test level, and it's right here.
Any feedback and constructive criticism is appreciated. Oh, and regarding the very last segment of the level, I plan on decorating it with some fortress FG tidbits once I can figure out what NameUser is doing with Coral Keep, GFX-wise.

Hmm...in my opinion, the ideal true final boss (of the main story) would be three phases long. Long enough to feel properly climatic, and short enough to not overstay its welcome. Here're my ideas for each phase:
Once Mario reaches the head/control center of the colossal robot, Norveg brings out his primary defensive weapon; a smaller robot that fits inside the room and is much more mobile and agile than the surrounding behemoth, making it seem more like an actual battle. Perhaps for atmosphere, the BG could feature the glass "eyes" of the giant robot head, where you can see a skyline of world 8 outside.
Of course, the carnage created by the first fight causes immense damage on the gigantic mech you and Norveg are in, and it starts to fall apart. Norveg quickly climbs into a flying escape pod, leaving a second one behind available for you. Perhaps we could turn this into an aerial battle between the flying pods? Of course, it would take place high above the factory. Might be a little hard to do, but I think it could end up interesting if pulled off right. Someone could even draw a BG that shows the battered giant robot in the distance.
Finally, once the battle is over, both pods can't take anymore, and they crash land right in the middle of the world 8 factory, presumably very far away from where the final level originally took place. At this point, the giant robot has completely fallen apart, and in turn dealt massive damage to the entire factory. The entire place is now completely unstable, and will be destroyed in some grand, fiery explosion very shortly. Norveg sees this, realizes there's nothing he can do to salvage his work, and decides to instead just take his anger out on you.
Thus, the final phase takes place during the destruction of the factory. Norveg himself is now just limited to the weapons he has on hand, including his cane and jetpack. He'd be fighting more hands on, since he's out of options. As for atmosphere, the BG would depict the machinery falling apart, and maybe we could even whip up a generator that causes bits of broken machinery to fall randomly (in the background, of course. To make them actual obstacles would be kind of a dick move). A ground-rumbling generator might also fit if it doesn't shake the scenery every single second; otherwise it might be too distracting.
Anyway, just some thoughts.

Not sure how many of you watch the Colbert Report, but I felt like this was worth pointing out.
