I have a pretty simple yet cool idea. What if someone made a SMW2 game, not yoshi's island but SMW edited with new levels, worlds, bosses and remixes for every song in the game. There would be no exgfx what so ever making it a vanilla hack. The game would be long and have 120 exits, along with harder star world and special world levels. You would also have the option to fly on yoshi on the overworld screen too. I want to make it but I'm not good with overworld designing.

Yeah, I guess I can wait. I't just looks so cool that it screams play me, pick up the controler and play me!! On a side note, this could be a great base hack for people who want to remake smb3 for smw, hence the mario & luigi racoon sprites. But I do hope that yoshi master finishes soon cuz it looks about done.

I can't make a freaking overworld for my life. I understand that overworlds shouldnt have blockyness or have cut off parts but I'm not good at designing them. I keep practicing and dont get better. Does anyone have any advice? If so thank you.

If you want to make a decent hack it's important to take your time to make sure that you have quality game play and is appealing to the player. It all depends on what you're aiming for. Always remember that a hack made with care and has had time put into it is what people are looking for.

Why is it that most hacks have to have custom graphics these days? Why are there hardly any vanilla hacks?

I just noticed that the super mario land 2 head of mario is exactly like oneof the frames in smb3. Look at the picture very carefully and you'll see what I mean. Edit: There are also some recolored smb3 sprites that are unused in smw. Maybe they used a recolored and slightly edited smb3 mario sprite for the beta.

For Dinomar: I wasn't talking about few vanilla hacks beaing around, I was talking about how There arent that many new ones out that are more than a demo (I've already played super challenge world). Thank you, I already knew about hacks section though. I,m just saying that there arent really any new vanilla hacks that are long like super challenge world, like having 120 exits.

Yiddo yiddo, you should try to find luigi's adventure 2, it's way harder, that is to say you can find it period. It took me 2 days to find it.

For YiddoYiddo...again lol. I found it in one of the non good snes downloads, yes thats the file name so I think you could just type that in the search bar. I think there are 5 parts organized by the alphabet. They contain a whole bunch of other hacks and games too. Be warned, in luigi's adventure 2 you cant run. Another heads up, it's a demo that stopes at the final world. If anyone has the full version, please upload it here at smw central.

I actually did play it. I wish there were more hacks ike that, it was another reason I started this thread. It'd be cool if it was longer though, say 40 more levels of challenging fun. That'd take me a good deal of time to beat.

Just fix the cutoffs and give the islands ragged edges instead of squares. After that You're good to go.

Yeah, it would be funny if people started getting tired of exgfx and reverted back to smw graphics. I like both regular and exgfx, but it depends on how they're used to appeal to the player. I guess I just want something that makes me feel like I'm playing smw 3, the hacked sequil to smw 1 with the origional graphics.

Forget the smb3 thing, the pics show that big beta mario is almost exactly the same as the current one. I think it's better to just keep the current sprite. Ealrier you were talking about adding smb3 music yoshi master, but some of the smb3 songs didn't work in addmusic, at least not for me. Have you found an alternative?
