Here is my problem ... I suck at overworld editing to begin with, the tiles are too small and its hard to get it to look right. However, I am making a little thing for my family and friends who had the joy of playing the original game with me as a child. So I decided to put a little something together as a test run or what not.. So I am trying to link the vanilla dome and the over world .. I know I am doing it right cause I have 4 other exits that work fine ... my problem is that I screwed up the first time and accidentally told it to go left instead of up so I went back in and went to change it to up and now there IS no vanilla dome option its like the program doesn't even recognize it's existence.. someone please tell me why in the hell it decided to literally ignore the vanilla dome submap and furthermore how in the bloody hell I fix it.

EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out .. apparently it was nothing the ("invalid map") message it was giving me meant nothing .. all I had to do was select the blank hex slot that vanilla dome was at and it just .. sort of fixed itself ... now it works fine .. On a side note since this was a clearly wasted thread anyone want to offer tips on how to make an overworld look pretty without having to have goggles on with lenses that magnify x1000

I am trying to change the submap area (Yoshi's Island) to use custom music. The problem is every time I choose a music I like it has NO music and, if you enter a tile the game go's black and freezes.
Now I know what your thinking, it was not inserted right (cause thats what normally happens). I triple checked the INI file and the placement of the TXT and they are 100% correct and still the same problem. So then I decided to try one that I had already set and that I knew worked as both level and overworld, That one worked fine. so I figured I just got unlucky and got broken music files so I took a different one I already had as a level and again transferred to overworld (one that would more accurately fit the submap layout, This one didnt work.

So I looked at both TXT files side by side to see what was different and I saw this thing in red.

Code
$ED $80 $6D $2B ;Level header. Change $2B to $68 to use this on the Overworld. $ED $80 $7D $00 $F0

So I changed it to the overworld heading setting, inserted it and it STILL did not work.

Now maybe you will say "you messed up somewhere", well this is where things got odd. Again I went and looked at the difference between both TXT files.
The music that worked on my submap was set to be a level NOT a overworld and it still worked even though it should not have. So I have come to the conclusion that it just doesn't like me. Unless I am missing something or the Yoshi Island submap is temperamental, either way I cannot figure it out on my own and request someone to PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Let me guess: You didn't patch MORE.bin using -se right?

To do this, you should type this in cmd:

Code
Addmusic.exe *ROMname*.smc -se

Then it will display something about the SFX having been inserted.

Nope I did not forget that part. Still same issue

EDIT:
I think it would be prudent to mention that every submap and overworld has working music at this point. The Yoshi Island submap is the only one giving me issues

this is the TXT of the music that worked fine .. But I have it set to my mini game submap at the moment.

This is the one that did not work
http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/9170/Cave%2Bmap.txt

I have tried both header settings on this and they both didnt work ... so it is recently set back to level since that was its original purspose

I think there's your problem, you have to change that $04 to $03 because OW songs can't have an echo delay greater than $03.

Ok I will try that

EDIT: OK AWESOME that worked I will have to remember that the echo cannot be set above $03 thanks very much ^_^
