I believe it was back in late 2007 when I first found out about Lunar Magic and SMW hacking. At first sight, I really liked what I saw, and, that winter, I found this site. I was around--still not registered, though--for Nightfall, which worried me, but I was very happy to see SMW Central return.

I still didn't register for some reason and lurked for all of 2008, experiencing things like the Ghost House contest and the site getting hacked; all the while, I was attempting to improve on my skills with SMW hacking. At the beginning of 2009, I was still lurking and also noticed the site getting hacked again in March 2009. Soon after, though, I decided to finally register.

I really wasn't too into the site at first and didn't really start to post all that much until late 2009. In fact, my only successful SMW hacking ventures of 2009 were two short, well-made Kaizo hacks, as well as a nice debut in the Choco Level Contest; I placed 11th with a Yoshi's Island-styled level. I could tell that I still wasn't really clicking with the site then, but things changed for me in 2010.

In 2010, I really buckled down and focused on my main project, Bowser Rampages Again; in the meantime, I became much more active on the forums. Once the forum renovations started, I started going on the IRC; mostly lurking at first, but eventually opening up somewhat. Finally, around mid-2010, I finished Bowser Rampages Again, which later earned featured status and is still, in my opinion, my best work so far. However, I realized I could do much better, as my entry for the 2010 Choco Level Contest tied for 4th, just a hair away from a trophy.

From late 2010 to the present time, I've been trying to stay active, though I'm definitely less active than I once was. I had another SMW hack in the works, CASTLES, which ended up getting shot down due to the new Addmusic. Another disappointment of 2011 was the Vanilla Contest; the judging was horrible, and, to this day, I still feel a little cheated. The year of 2012, on the other hand, has been pretty nice, most notably because I finally earned a trophy in the level design contest with a 3rd-place finish. I'm also working on Collection, my next SMW hack in progress, which is starting to get close to finished.

I still try to post often enough, but I'm hardly ever on the IRC anymore. I don't see myself ever leaving this site permanently, though; I still think SMW Central is a really great place.

Hoping for greater things to come in 2013!

How I got into Touhou (or, more specifically, Reisen <3)

In late 2009, I started wondering about the origin of a character in a certain user's layout. Come 2010, I discovered that the character is from Touhou, a series of these bullet hell games with awesome music and an (almost) all-female cast of characters. Hmm...

Soon after one of the Bar & Grill sprees, a striped layout fad involving female anime (or anime-styled) characters began on the site, and, after a while, I wanted in. Out of randomness at the time, I ended up choosing Reisen from Touhou 8 as the girl in my layout. Although I experimented with a couple other girls from Touhou, ultimately I stuck with Reisen, and, to this today, she's my favorite! :3

Also, the absolute greatest thing to ever happen in Touhoumon Blue for me:

SHINY. REISEN. GET. :)
