This hack deserves less obscurity than it has. It's a great vanilla romp. Must say the palettes are iffy at times though.

Still highly reccomended!

It started out okay, then quickly went downhill. Though maybe I should've expected as much from a first hack.

Graphically, it's a vanilla hack with palette editing throughout, though the palette work reminds me of the work I used to do back when I first came to this site; a lot of saturated colors that don't always look that good. Some bad examples include the dirt in the first level, Cyan Lowlands, Dawn's Edge, and Toxic Passage. The castles are somewhat better, but overall the palettes aren't very good.

No ASM or custom music is used in this hack, it's pretty much vanilla outside of palettes, so lets move on to gameplay...

Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't much better either. A lot of levels suffer from artificial difficulty. Namely spike/chomper/hurt block spam, several long autoscrolling areas, stringent time limit in the green berry level, small tile jumps in an ice level, bullet spam in another level... There is also a profound lack of powerups in this hack too; often the only time you're going to be big is when you reach the midway points, since it feels like the author forgot to include powerup blocks in most of the levels. This lack of powerups only contributes to that artificial difficulty.

There are also quite a few oversights to this hack as well. For example, the author forces the player to ditch Yoshi at the end of the green berry level, but you can return to this level, find Yoshi, and use START+SELECT to bring him out of the level and into any other non-indoors level. There are also a couple places where the player can get trapped, namely in the Cyan Lowlands if you jump over the top of the level in some areas where you're climbing high, something that could've easily been avoided by just adding ceilings or blocking off places the player could fall into.

Overall, I do not recommend this hack; It's not terrible by first hack standards, as there was definitely effort put into making it, but it ultimately lacks the polish to be considered decent.
