Super Mario World Hacks - Biob's Challenge
File Name: Biob's Challenge

Authors: TheBiob
Demo: No
Featured: No
Length: 1 exit(s)
Difficulty: Pit
Description: Sooo uh... since pit hacks are allowed again I thought I might as well submit this.

This is the first (and for now the only) pit hack I ever made. It's probably way easier than what you usually see as a pit hack.

-------------------------------
Note that this hack requires the player to be cautious about Item Memory. For anyone that doesn't care or doesn't know how to figure this stuff out beforehand:

You must activate the 1-up block at the purple coin part
You must keep all yellow coins at drop with the yellow pipe
You must collect the yellow coin in the top left of the screen with the 4 falling platforms and reenter the upside down door.
You must activate both 1-up blocks at the magi koopa's magic part.

And yes I couldn't come up with a better name

I saw it on the map and I think Mario is on the wrong map because there are two maps, one starts at level 2 and another at level 105. Anyway, I think it's just a detail even though I imagine it starts at level 105. I will change Mario on the map and I will make a TAS because this hack pleases me a lot.

Nope, not a mistake. You're supposed to not trigger the automatic message box but the actual message box instead, so you have to quickly hit the p-switch and go through the door, then hit the message box before the automatic one triggers.

If the automatic message box triggers it set's mario's ow position to where it's supposed to be (Which is that fake level you mentioned) but hitting an actual message box skips setting the position which leaves you at the actual level.

Should've probably linked that door of the fake level to a level explaining the intro for people that don't know that glitch.

or even to just cut off some of these rooms that don't really add anything to the hack

If you're talking about the ones where you literally just do a p-switch jump and walk over a few coins then yeah I should've done something else there. They were necessary for the whole item memory gimmick but I probably could've made something a bit more creative/difficult than what I did.

Most of the "single screen" part is probably just too easy since the difficulty jumps between Kaizo: light to pit quite a lot in that section though it does kinda go on for a while.

This hack has a very high difficulty compared to the average pit hack we see on Youtube, which is really good to see. The main room is pretty good, and there are, thankfully, original ideas through the whole hack. In contrast to the main room, there are sequences of tiny rooms. The problem is that there were just too many of them. It would have been better to have less, but bigger secondary rooms, or even to just cut off some of these rooms that don't really add anything to the hack. And lastly, as it is overall still a pretty good pit hack, I agree with the author: this hack deserved a better name :) Not a big deal, though.
