Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.
Krack the Hack is a short 14-exit hack where you play as a recently-transformed Koopa who is tasked to collect keys to save the Rixzo Army from the evil clutches of Bowser. Each stage has at least 4 keys required to beat the stages, with a twist in each level to make them all a new experience. The game starts easy, and then quickly ramps up in difficulty from beginning to end, to post-end. Each stage contains a moon to find, and something else as well.
Can you get through all 14 stages and find all the secrets?
Those who downloaded anything under v1.3.0 must read the readme for more info about compatibility.
The game has 14 exits but also a lot of side quests, which gives this game hours of pleasure when you are a completationist =]
Each level is very creative and has wonderful palettes and music. Difficulty is hard indeed, especially towards the end, but the frequent checkpoints make the game beatable without any savestate, you just have to gain some technical skills and use your brain to find all moons, achievements and easter eggs (I probably missed some of these xD)
The extra challenge checklist is the true masterpiece to my opinion, something I didn't see before, cheers for that !
10/10 (5 stars) Thank you very much to both of you, it was so entertaining and innovative =]
I'm giving this a 5/5, not because of the troll who voted a 2, but because I honestly enjoyed this one. It may be a short hack, sure, but the level design here is solid and the difficulty remains consistent throughout the hack.
For a story based game, however, the story feeps pretty weak and somewhat rushed in the beginning. It stops being relevant until maybe the end of the game
and some actually interesting hidden cutscenes you unlock by finishing the Extras checklist
Re-categorised this to "Very Hard." I did like it though it's not something I'll be playing again soon because of how stressful I found it lol, especially the special world, but a lot of care went into this (except for the YUMP level which I've let slide because of where it's placed)
