Description: This is a complete hack of Super Mario World. Don't expect any new graphics here; this game is all about the level design. All the levels and worlds are new, and some of the worlds have themes not present in the original game, such as a water world and an ice world.

Wow, a nice hack indeed. It gets a 10/10 from me.
Graphics: Nothing new but anyway I like the original SMW graphics
Overworld:Realy nice overworld. You really know how to put an overworld togeather.
Music: Also, nothing new, but the original SMW music never gets old
Level design: Realy nice also. I like the levels and how you made them go up in difficulty. The only thing that annoyed me is that ghost ship because of that room with a clock. No matter, realy nice levels.
This is a must play hack.

I happen to prefer vanilla hacks, and this one's definitely a white cake. The levels had the feel of the original, and were not at all rough, or required specific actions to proceed. However, like most white cake, it got to be bland at some parts.

As graphics and music weren't original, I won't comment them. The following is based on a 10 = Nintendo Quality rating.

Level Design- 8: The levels all had an important theme to them that applies to Super Mario World itself; openness. It's a whole world you're running through, not just an obstacle course. This was done well in Return to Dinosaur land. However, quite a few levels felt extra short, especially for the time limit given. Consequently, I ended up forgetting all the levels I did due to their briefness.

Overworld- 9: This was alright. I found Frozen Valley boring as an overworld, but otherwise the levels were alright minus their briefness. In other regions there were plenty of red levels, giving the path a sense of varied direction. Also, I give points to the way your switch palaces maintained their structure after setting the switch. And of course, the twin ghost houses. Genius.

Difficulty- 8: This hack played it fair. There were no rough edges, or "You messed up" parts. The levels increased in difficulty, though slowly, they surely did. However, one important element failed to come in, and I've already mentioned this. The time limit was so high, I never ran low on time, except the ghost house B, where I was too stupid to figure it out right away. (I tried flying up, but you cleverly prevented such actions.) -1 for time, and -1 more for the large sum of lives, power-ups, and all that. Bit too easy on that part, but the levels themselves were just dandy.

Over all, I give this hack a nice solid B. 83%. It's a hack worth playing through, even if you've never played the original. If I ever get a chance to make a hack of my own, I could no doubt learn a lot from Ragb.

10 before penalties
-1, glitched graphics for Yoshi in Bowserland 5
Rating: 9

Return to Dinosaur Land is the unofficial sequel to the original Super Mario World. The gameplay returns, but the stages are new. If you liked SMW 1, then you should play Return to Dinosaur Land.

Does SMW 1 not require a sequel with the same gameplay? For some players, the answer is no. After the players rescued the princess, SMW 1 provided the Star Road and the Special Zone. Players would explore the Star Road and the Special Zone, instead of waiting for a sequel. So when Nintendo published Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the gameplay was so different from SMW 1.

But for some other players, the fact is that they exhausted the Star Road and the Special Zone. They found 96 exits in SMW 1 and have no new places to explore. Return to Dinosaur Land provides these new places.

Return to Dinosaur Land has no Star World, no Special Zone, no fortresses with Reznor, no Back Door to Bowser. It has only 59 exits, unless I missed some; but the stages tend to be long, so there is enough to enjoy. One stage put 900 seconds in the game clock.

Dinosaur Land has changed. Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's House remain, but without Kappa Mountain (the site of the Yellow Switch Palace during SMW 1). The other worlds in order are Mushroom Plateau, Wiggler Woods, Frozen Valley, Choco Peninsula, Urchin Ocean and Bowserland. Mario destroyed the castles during SMW 1, but Bowser and the Koopalings rebuilt them.

Now there are no shortcuts to Bowser. All secret exits either unlock a bonus stage, or unlock a switch palace, or continue the main path to Bowser. Mario must rescue all seven eggs before fighting Bowser.

Return to Dinosaur Land does contain a small number of new features. The world map now boasts lowercase letters in stage names. The most obvious new feature is a new sprite, a flying red coin worth five coins. One pipe sinks to the ground when Mario steps on it. One stage begins with a "No Yoshi" sign. A room of poisonous gas resets the clock to 100 when Mario enters. There is also the matter of the Twin Ghost Houses in the second world, which I do not spoil here.

Then there are new stages, of such very excellent design. There were almost no problems. I brought Yoshi to Bowserland 5, which helped so much because Yoshi can walk on munchers, but I saw graphical glitches in Yoshi's tongue, and in fireballs when spitting out red shells, so I subtracted one point and lowered my rating to 9, still my highest rating for any SMW hack. When Mario completes the sunken ship, the world map has no music, but I will not subtract an entire point there. Also, the physics for the moving fence in Bowser's Castle seem wrong; if I release the Control Pad, then the fence moves but Mario does not move with the fence. Very rarely, the graphics have gaps in the corners; this happens with the water in Frozen Valley 3, and with the cement blocks during the approach to the secret exit in Choco Peninsula 4.

Return to Dinosaur Land begins easy for the first world, but it has its difficult places. The fourth world, Frozen Valley, is more difficult because every stage is slippery; but Frozen Valley 2 and Frozen Valley 4 still allow Mario to recover if Mario slips the jumps between the narrowest platforms. Difficulty returns for the seventh world, Bowserland.

My favorite world is the sixth world, Urchin Ocean. SMW 1 did not have enough water levels, but Urchin Ocean has plenty of them. The third world, Wiggler Woods, is a fresh and fun forest maze, even if the player knows Forest of Illusion from SMW 1. If you want to experience this maze, then play Return to Dinosaur Land.

I love this hack, I could only play World one, though (Couldn't find a good SMW rom, so I patched a Kaizo rom >_>)

Graphics: 5/10
Nothing custom. Don't worry though, it won't affect the Overall.

Music: 5/10
Same as Above.

Overworld: 8/10
Nothing fancy, great nonetheless.

Creativity: 7/10
Basically a Sequel to SMW, so not that creative, but still good

Level Design: 9/10
Here's what counts:Wonderful, Simple, and FAIR. Only problem is the cave in one of the levels with the turn blocks, they kept killing me >_>

Overall: 8/10

This hack holds a very special place in my heart: It was the first one I ever played after I got into ROM hacking. I found a copy of it on The Mushroom Kingdom that wasn't locked, and while playing it, I analyzed it to bloody hell, and used the skills I learned to develop my own hacks! ^^

Demo World: The Legend Continues may have set the pace, but this hack set the standard. All aspiring Super Mario World 1 hackers should look to this hack first and start off with vanilla hacks before they move onto the more advanced stuff like BlockTool, SpriteTool, and everything else.

Every hack I've tried to make is inspired by this one. For the most part, my hacks are vanilla, although I do try to sneak in some ExGFX (and, more recently, custom blocks and sprites) every now and then! ;)

A well deserved 9/10.

Some of the levels are kinda short. But other than that, it's okay. But what I didn't like was the wiggler ghost house. The maze that you can't even see...yeah. That's bad. But overall, I'd say it's pretty good.

This is a really great hack. It focuses mostly on lvl. design and executes it very well. It has a Good over world that is reminiscent
of the original smw. My favourite level was definitaly the ice castle. Although some stages needed to be improved like the one in wiggler woods where you traversed through that one area 3 times. I think it needed to be more difficult and engaging. Over all this hack is a must play and it definitaly deserves ........ 9.5/10

This is my first real hack (as in not a joke hack or a demo) I've completed, and as of now it's a favorite of mine. Let's see why:

The level design was on the whole very good and fun to play through, although World 6 dragged on a bit. I loved the puzzles in the Ghost Houses, enjoyed most of the normal levels, and I really liked the puzzles in Wiggler's Woods (?). The last normal level was not fun at all though.

I liked how some of the unused (in SMW) Layer 2 effects were used, especially in the Ghost Ship.

The overworld was on the whole pretty fun to play through. I think I found every exit and I found both of the Top Secret Areas. My only annoyance in this section is that there was no Special World.
I'll rate this a 9, because some of World 6 and some bad palettes are insignificant against the awesomeness of this.
