Description: (Text taken directly from the Readme that's included)This is a demo of the first two worlds in my hack, titled "Mystery of the Seven Orbs". There is one secret level in the first world that is not started, but it doesn't become important until the end of the game. Other than that, though, all the levels in this demo are complete.

Mystery of the Seven Orbs is quite different from my first hack, Super Challenge World. It is not a challenge hack, but it does get difficult at times. I have beaten every level without save states. The levels are also very forgiving, and there are about three hidden lives in each level on average. Plus, you get an extra life whenever you beat a level. This hack is meant to be fairly difficult, but mainly it is supposed to be fun. I hope you enjoy my hack!

Story: 10/10

The whole thing isn't there yet, but what's there works so far, I guess.

Gameplay/Overall: 10/10

In one word - immersive. I felt I was in your hack and not playing some edited version of SMW. I was sad you made me ditch power-ups and Yoshi so often, but you had enough replacements that it really didn't matter to me.

It's also very obvious that you put a lot of care into this.

Programming: 10/10

Everything new works very well. That is all.

Level Design: 9/10

SPOILERS AHEAD

Yeah, this is harder than I usually like. But every level is unique, and I really like that. My first question is why you included Fruity Forest 3. Every other level in the game is important in some way, either to go further on the pathways or to get to a star or some other important level. But Fruity Forest 3 has nothing. It even requires the secret exit to get to. Maybe switch 2 and 3?

Check your levels for places you can get stuck. I did in the Yellow Yoshi puzzle in the Snow Bowl... required a death or a previous save state (which I had, luckily). I don't like that kind of thing. Yeah, some places it's unavoidable/part of the level, but that particular one seemed like a mistake. Otherwise I think that puzzle was brilliantly done.

You mention that the levels aren't linear... true, they aren't a "start at the left and go right with no detours" linear, but 90% of them are still linear in one way or another. You start somewhere and there is only one route to the end. There may be branches away, but they are all dead ends. Levels that are truly non-linear have multiple full routes rather than one route with dead-end branches. Yeah I'm nitpicky but I feel that some of your levels really could be less linear (though not all require it).

In Mt. Marshmallow 4, (edited out)

END SPOILERS.

Edit: Took out my solution to one of the levels because it just occurred to me I may have been RIGHT.

Graphics: 10/10

I have to say that everything worked for me. No mismatches in terms of style. No cutoffs. Impeccably done.

Music and Sound: N/A

Replay Value: 10/10

I would gladly play again (waiting for the next demo of course).

Difficulty: 7/10

I know you said you can do every level without save states, but not me. The puzzles in the second world almost all required me to either use save states or repeat upwards of 10 difficult jumps and such over and over until I got the last part right. You don't need that many tricky elements per puzzle, I think, and you could move some of those elements into later worlds... just a suggestion.

Fun: 10/10

Hm. Well, for example, I spent all of just today finishing it... so you tell me.

Wild Card: 10/10

Yoshi's blinders... so random to me. And I liked it. I also liked his long name. Is there a reason for this?

Total: 86/90 or 9.5ish/10. Rounded up to 10.

A very good hack. The graphics in the first world really made me feel like I was in another world. The graphics for the second world seemed more normal however{although I think I did like the marshmallow goombas in the second world}. Also the goomba colours really made you feel like mario was on another planet{for the first world at least}. I also liked the way it seemed almost like this was the first ever mario game. The first world was very good but the second one might need some work. Only if you want to though.

Ahhh, this is one of my favorite hacks ever. The graphic style is really strange, it makes you feel like you're in a different world sort of, I think this hack mastered the art of clashing graphics. This hack has graphic clashes that look good, and I like that. The level design is really good, the puzzles are all fun to solve and difficult, and almost every level has a puzzle to it. This hack has some of the best level design that I've seen, but it has some frusturating moments and some bad graphic clashes. 9/10.
