Description: What started as a small 'edit' that I was making for the sake of practicing Lunar Magic,
turned into a full length hack. People on youtube have called me awesome, the best they have ever seen, and one time,
a genius. Though I know for certain that some of them might have been exaggerating, my levels will definitely entertain you, and they are well put together. Not everybody will think this, but I am pretty sure you will, and maybe think even more...

Story- Bowser has tricked Mario into getting inside of a very strange glass box, called The Unworld. It is a very strange world in
there... Mario, inside, asks you to help get him out of there using the controller connected to the box. It is up to
you to lead Mario out of the Unworld and back to the real world in time to stop Bowser! Expect some humorous comments
and a some-what storyline within this.

To get to Bowser in the regular, just getting one normal exit after another path, will take you 33 exits. However, if you are a player
who likes looking for secret exits, finding new Overworld areas and paths, then you will have a whole 93 exits to find.
I only used Lunar Magic and the instant Death blocks in this hack, so I would call it a vanilla hack (I guess?) This hack
has, in my opinion and that of others', a very nice difficulty curve, where it is pretty easy in the beginning and slowly gets much much harder.
Many levels have hidden bonuses and secret surprises... So, what are you waiting for? Download this and have fun!

Also, a note- you may discover some glitches, but if you do, I doubt it will be anything major, I have played
through this a bazillion times.

Oh yeah, and since this is The Unworld, expect to see some interesting palettes... Nothing ugly or damaging, just... out there...

This hack was realy creative, it had some cuttofs and glitches, but the use of the vanilla grafics was verry good. There where no custom blocks or sprites, however, they where not needed since the level design was verry good and chalenging too, it took me a lot of work to beat it without savestates (actualy I couldn't beat the hell level, but I cleared all the other levels.)

My favorite levels where Maple cementery and shipwreak atoll.

I'd rate this hack 7/10

this hack was ok but re-iterating what yoshicookiezeus said about a particular level like "Summer Race" nearly being impossible to beat because of the superfast auto-scrolling. I did find the "normal" goal to the Summer Race level but everytime I touch the goalpost I get pushed to the far left side of the screen and die due to the superfast auto-scrolling. Had to use a cheat code to disable auto-scrolling just to safely touch the goalpost there w/out dying. Sorry to use a cheat code but it seems the normal exit in Summer Race can't be reached at all (w/out dying) because of the way that level was designed. Perhaps the normal goalpost should be place in a separate area where there is no fast auto-scrolling and an exit pipe should be placed near the end of that level that directs to that separate area. So there ARE really TWO exits in the Summer Race level but only the "keyhole" route seems to be working fine while taking the normal route leads to death, no matter what.

I liked this hack a lot. It was very entertaining. The overworld was nicely palletted, but some level backgrounds/foregrounds, were not.

I liked the story line, and everything.

The problem is that after a while, I got a little bored with it. The pallettes changed, the humour stayed the same and difficulty got harder.

Half the time I was frantically searching for the exit, rather than enjoying the level.

I give this a 8/10.

Domiok Note: (Instead of posting a question like this in a Review, why not just tell the author in a PM? Chances are that some authors don't read all of their Hack Reviews, so it'll get through faster if you just ask them personally.)

P.S. I would like to do a 'Lets Play' of this on youtube. My Youtube Username is 6johansenad(I forgot to put a 0 on the front). Please leave a comment on my channel giving me permision, because, I really like this, but I'm lazy and I'll forget to do it all. An LP would probably force me to do it all.

P.S.S. Am I allowed to write about my Youtube Channel on here?

Simple Review

OW: 6/10 Start Select on every level? No thanks. also some minor cutoff tiles and bland blocky structure.
Level Design: 8/10 You didn't stoop to making bland cookie-cut linear level design and I commend you for doing so.
Difficulty: 6/10 It was difficult at some spots, but easier at others.
Palettes: 1/10 This is where your hack really takes a beating in the score department. I know you were just trying out Lunar Magic and expanding your use of it, but come on, that doesn't warrant these horrible piles of garbage. It's also a real contrast with the rest of the hack. Players who have not downloaded it and take a look a the screenshots for a little preview will get the wrong idea due to those awful palettes.
Length: 93 exits? Really? I'm not one to play long hacks so I'll be honest, I stopped playing this hack around 65 exits or so. But it's good to know that as the hack progresses the levels DON'T get more poorly designed. 7/10

OVERALL SCORE: 28/50 Sorry but the lame Overworld, Awful palettes, and excruciating length really hurt this hack. But don't be fooled, it has great level design, so in the end, I would recommend it.

This is a nice hack here.

Level Design: 9/10
For the most part, the levels were fun to play. A few levels were hard, and there was also that "Useless" level...no idea what happened there. Still, the hack was fun.

Graphics: 6/10
The graphics, for the most part, were nice. Most of the palettes, while unusual, fit well in levels, but, in a few levels, my eyes were dealt much harm D=. Plus, there were some glitched goal spheres, some cutoff tiles, and that annoying overworld glitch that garbles the paths...

Overworld: 7/10
While the overworld was nice, one glitch kept occurring: garbled paths. Almost every time I completed a level, events revealed garbled paths. Thankfully, resetting the game fixed this, so not too many points lost there.

Music: 10/10
The original SMW music was used, and where it was used, it fit well.

Bonus:
I love what you did with the custom palettes in Chalk Quarry and Mustard Shore. It made the original SMW graphics seem like completely new graphics! (one bonus point)

Overall:
You've made a very nice hack, dottedboy. While it suffered from some graphical oddities, there were also amazing graphical achievements created just by using custom palettes. Plus, above all, this hack was fun to play. 9/10

Mariomaster's Review:

Score- 9.8/10

The first hack of dotteboy's is probably one of the best in terms of level design and secrets. Read on to find out more...

Level design-10/10

The core feature with any hack, The Unworlds' strongest point is gameplay and level design. This is potentially the best designed hack ever made. The first 33 levels may be easy, but after that, things start to get hard with the secret exits and the star world. I simply cannot express the amazingness of the level design. Everything felt natural and original, as where you would expect to be- nothing failed my expectations.

Overworld Design-7/10

Although it was quite complex and had a graphical update, the overowlrd still had major flaws such as messed up graphics which lowered the mars here. The overowlrd itself was well designed, and was filled with many hidden areas which were a joy to find.

Music- 6/10

The only weak point of the hack. It stuck to the orginal SMW soundtrack, which was a shame, because I would have liked to hack heard some new tunes going alog with the new levels. However, I still love the original soundtrack, so I'm fine...

Graphics- 9/10

I don't care what other people have said about the new palletes- they're fresh, new, and most importantly, amazing. The best thing about them is that they are original to Super Mario World yet still manage to look like something new and brillian, which is hard to achieve and I congratulate Dottedboy for this. The colours chosen were slightly more colourful than the original Super Mario World graphics but that only shows how it's the Unworld-something new and different for once, something you don't see in many hacks. The only thing I didn't like was that the object and sprite graphics was the same-it would have been nice to see something new.

Plot- 8/10

The plot here is nothing special, but builds on the original ideas. Making Mario go after bowser is the same old usual, but dottedboy expanded it to trapping him in the Unworld... which isn't that great, but gives the feeling of something new- which exactly what this is.

Creative Ideas- N/A

None used here... although there was a ton of exits and new palletes

Recommended???-

Domiok Edit (157.68372% It'd actually be 83%, but I just love random numbers!) YES!!! With orginal level design, a ton of secrets, and new yet orginal palletes, this is a must play for experienced players looking for a new challenge.A classic, by far...

Well Done, Dottedboy!

This was a pretty good hack. Heck, what am I saying, this hack was one of the funnest hacks I've ever played! The level design was great, and even though the palettes look bad, I got used to them after a while. But, some of the choices are still strange, and the overworld looks weird. Also, pathes tend to glitch out after world two. And I agree with Knightkip about The Mole Playground, but I say it just should have been later in the hack. I'll give it an 8/10.

It's a good hack, but there are many serious flaws that prevent it from being great. Few Kaizo traps, some sprite memory problems, and some bad palettes really drag this down...but fortunately, they aren't prevalent. In fact, many of the palettes are pretty good despite them being...out there.

My biggest problem is with the overworld...you are able to Start+Select out of all of the levels, and you ACTIVATE THE NORMAL EXIT BY DOING SO!!! Also, after World 2, I start seeing a metric fuckton of glitchy reveals. Saving the game and resetting seems to solve that problem, though.

The Spooky Shack is where I got off the bus, though...it doesn't seem to have an exit. It just loops around and around and around...

6/10.

I just finished playing this hack (92/93 exits found, and I have no idea where the last one could be) and found it one of the better I've played. The level design was really good, especially the puzzle levels, and the Special Scary level was simply genius. In fact, the only levels I found questionable in terms of design was Summer Race, which was almost impossible due to the super-fast auto scroll, and didn't seem to have a normal exit despite having a red dot on the map, and Useless, which seemed, well, quite pointless.

Your palettes, while unusual, fit the levels well, and in some cases even made it look as if you weren't using original SMW graphics at all. (Chalk Quarry in particular comes to mind.)

There were a lot of sprite tile limitation problems, most notable in the Maple Graveyard Big Boo fight, where both Mario and half of the Big Boo couldn't be seen at all throughout the battle, and also throughout the end-of-world castles. Also, I guess the level BUTTER BRIDGE 2 wasn't supposed to be in the hack, since it's the only one that has a name from the original SMW and also couldn't be finished except for flying, since the first line-guided platform didn't work properly and the second one simply wasn't there. And there were two overworld pipes, one just above the second castle and one to the right of the fifth, that I couldn't seem to reach in any way.

But all in all, it was a really good hack, and one I'll happily recommend others to play. 9/10

I played your hack and i was shocked!
Your hack has tons of pallete errors and cut-off tiles, and
sometimes i was confused about your OW!
heres m review:

GFX/Exgfx and other
Lots of the "new" Palletes wasnt good.
And some of them are pretty eye-hurting.
Your grey cement block was also ugly.
7/25

OW
Your OW was pretty good but the palletes destroyed the OW.
13/25

Level Design
Some of your levels was pretty unique, but only a few.
And i found cut-off tiles =(.
11/25

Music
None.

Idea
Your try to make own palletes=failed!
I hate them and it was so eye-hurting...
4/25

So all in one = 35/100 = 3.5/10 = 4
Please dont think i hate then all of your hacks, but this hack wasnt pretty good...

This hack is pretty well put together. It was the first hack I went through during my attempts to help the hack moderators with their jobs.

I like the difficulty curve in this hack. I'm not a great Mario player, so I can't do all of those things that require tediously accurate timing on jumps and stuff like that. I frequently see this in other hacks, and it was a refresher to not be treated to the same in this. It starts off nice and easy, and gets up to an average difficulty level for the average player.

While the palettes may look bad in still screens, they're actually pretty soothing to look at during game play. There were a few questionable choices, but I can look past that.

I liked the puzzle aspect that I came across, too. Finding the secret exits in a few of the levels was difficult and required some thought, rather than the cliched secrets I see in other hacks. I also felt pretty good about finding them, cause it unlocked more fun levels.

Something I would change though would be the "The Mole Playground" level. With the number of moles on screen at all times, and the lack of a midway point, I'm tempted to call this level "The 7th Level of Hell".

Overall, this is a pretty good hack. 8.5/10
