| Review by SJackSJ | Perfect hack for The Christmas Season. Just finished recording a special Christmas Hack dealio and chose this hack to be featured, That my friend, tis an honor.
GRAPHICS - 10/10:
The graphics fit the the hack perfectly, snow covered landscape with snow fall itself. And sprites in winter clothing. Perfect graphics for such an occasion.
DESIGN - 9/10:
The design of the level itself was great. A perfect one-level hack. None to long or to short. With a few silly jumps adding a nice nostalgia factor. Perfect difficulty curve from before to after the midpoint. Making none to hard or to easy.
MUSIC - 10/10:
What need I say here besides the fact that the music was perfect the Christmas season. The different bits of music used throughout the level were all Christmas related, so, there you go. XD
ASM - 9.5/10:
The HDMA effect sort of dealio was a really nice touch. Gave the player a feel for what the time it was, and how short night and day are in Winter!

OVERALL - 10/10:
Yes, a very, very good hack. May be short, but it's quite entertaining otherwise. And you have done well! | Posted by: SJackSJ - 2012-12-24 05:08:31 PM |

| Review by Mastermind | Pretty good hack with lots of good ideas, and here's the rating:
Leveldesign: It's like a one-level-hack should be. Neither too short nor too hard, with some custom blocks and graphics and you're not disappointed by the just ten minutes investigated time which it takes to play through.
Graphics: Really fitting to the occasion (eg snowy fields, enemies with jelly bag caps,...) and I also liked the day-night change. Moreover you made the effort to change the overworld which is glitch-free like the rest of your hack.
Music: This makes the hack outstanding because it made me whistling the whole time I played it and only this made me play it a second time.
Story: There's not really a plot but I liked your idea with the WII at the end.
All in all a short and really fun hack to play which gave me the first christmas feeling this year. I finally give it a 9 out of 10!

| Review by I8Strudel | Great job! An early Christmas present this is. Here's my rating:
Level: 9/10
This level was fun to play up to the 7th or 8th time around (I lost count!). The normally simple difficulty was increased by the realisticly slippery ground, and hiding the Yoshi coins with the ice blocks was a splendid idea! I would have given it a 10 if there were more kinds of sprites, however. Also, the empty ? blocks don't make much sense.
Music: 9.5/10
Very Christmas-y! Only a tad mellow, and the P-switch at the end could have used a Christmas-y tone as well, but I'm not dropping a full point for microscopic things like that.
Graphics: 9/10
Those winter themed graphics were incredibly smooth! If Nintendo decided to make a snowy level back in 1990, that's what it would have looked like! However, I did not like the fading light that CrispyYoshi enjoyed and I personally feel that there should have been underground scenes to hide the transaction. Still very good though!
Plot: 10/10
Great plot idea! The message about the Wii is sadly true, but very funny to hear from Mario or Luigi.
Replay Value: Now that would be unfair to rate in a one level game!
ASM: I mesh the respective level and graphic changing qualities of the ASM to their respective fields.
Overall: 9.375 (rounded to 9.5)
Short and hard to rate, but very fun indeed. I hope this game is downloaded throughout the year, for it will definitely bring back those merry memories from the holidays! | | Posted by: I8Strudel - 2008-12-10 02:07:59 PM |

| Review by CrispyYoshi | Amazing, amazing hack. This is one of the best hacks I've played in a while. I nearly cried just reading about the message next to the Nintendo Wii, because it's true. The level was fun, the graphics stood out, and it just plain felt like a real Super Mario game. But anyway, here's what I thought about this hack:
Level 10/10
Perfect music, perfect graphics, and the level itself was creative and long! I didn't see any repeating areas, or places where you can glitch up! 10/10. Bravo!
Music 10/10
Perfect music for a Christmas-themed game. You made it fit perfectly and in-synch with the level. As it grows darker, the music starts playing 'Silent Night', and when it starts getting brighter, it starts playing 'Here Comes Santa Claus'. Genius. xD
Graphics 10/10
I really liked your crumbled log graphics. Nice Nintendo Wii, by the way. xD
Plot 10/10
Err... Not much of a plot, but then again, that's not the point of this hack. :3
ASM 9/10
I like what you did with the day/night HDMA effect. It made a lot of sense how Mario travels through the level overnight, and the next morning you get to the Nintendo Wii. Brilliant. But.. I personally don't like the crumbling blocks. They always get me, and I don't notice it. Maybe they're just small..?
Overall 9.8/10 (Or a 10/10)
This hack really woke me up, and it's 3:00 AM right now. xD I really have to say though, good job. I had a lot of fun with this hack, and it was only 1 level, too. Sure it was short, but it was full of 'awesome hack'. :] | | Posted by: CrispyYoshi - 2008-12-07 03:03:09 AM |
