| Review by MetalKirby4 | I personally liked this hack, though there are a few errors, and one stage that I am very nik-picky on.
Twilight...forgot the other name, felt like a Kaizo stage to me as I watched a friend of mine go through it twice (we played this on netplay). I can understand that you're basically trying to bring this stage's difficulty possibly up to the max level you set for your hack, however I feel this stage qualifies as Kaizo (as in, almost perfect timing needed to beat it).
An error I saw forces the player to die. In Ice Cream Mountains 2, if you hop on the platform that drops to the pits, and you don't jump across to the left in time, the platform does not reappear. I would suggest extending the land below it to replace that platform.
With the nik-picks and errors aside, I found some very creative levels, especially those with the use of the Layer 2 movement...methods (haven't fully researched this). The Info Places were nice little levels to visit, though some of the hints found there took a while to fully understand, like the one for Pancake Desert 4. Oh, and Cranberry Ocean 1's secret exit can be obtained without Blue Yoshi, btw. My friend did it with Red Yoshi, though he took to the skies later without Yoshi. Finally, where is the secret exit for Pancake Desert 1? PM me if you don't want that info public.
People may not like some of the palettes you used, but they didn't really bother me. I am going to mention one that kinda made me curious. Isn't the background color of the outside part of the map connected to most of the colors of Luigi's face? He looked like he had a giant mustache.
Overall I give this hack an 8 out of 10. It's mostly the errors that brought the score down. I enjoyed playing the hack, though.
EDIT: The creator contacted me on one of the errors I previously had up here, and turns out I overlooked something, so I deleted it. Rest still stays, though. | | Posted by: MetalKirby4 - 2009-02-23 10:25:39 AM |
