Why couldn't new super mario bros have a mode where you play this game with NSMB graphics and upgrades?

Music: 10/10!!! I like the super mario land remix even though that game pisses me off, but still.

Graphics: 8\10 Like the star but the mushroom is kinda weird in my opinion. I like the FG and BG..

I played through this the fast way and completed it in 20 minutes so this wont be a thorough review.

Music: 6/10
I was sorta hoping for classic SMB1 music remixed but that's a personal opinion...

Level design: 10/10
The levels are perfect replica's of the game that became the foundation for platformers! Nuff said!

Overworld: 7/10
Nothing really jumped out at me but I did like the warp zone overworlds.

Story: 10/10
Well it's the same old story line that no hard-core fan can get tired of from the game that became the foundation for platformers.

Graphics: 8/10
There were no SMW graphics in there as far as I could tell. I especially enjoyed your MLSS Mario sprite but there could have been a little more variety...

ASM: 7/10
You got a fair deal of ASM in there but you could have made it seem less SMW-like and more SMB-like with a little more work.

Overall: 8/10

Incidently: In the intro screen, (level C5) it is possible to run into the goomba on the left and kill yourself. I spent the first minute or two of the game getting my health into the minuses. I'd fix that if you plan to update.

I really enjoyed this hack! Here's my rating:

Story: N/A
It's the same story, no points can be awarded

Graphics: 8/10
I like the new graphics and the new mario, but the enemy roll (the part where they show you all of the enemies in the game)looked very sloppy and ugly.

Overworld: 9/10
The overworld almost always looked like it had 5 or more levels instead of four, but since the original just went level to level, any overworld is good.

Music: 8/10
The custom music was good, but some levels had SMW music, and that's not very cool.

Levels/gameplay: 9/10
The levels are the same, so I can't rate you on that, but when I faced bowser for the final time when I was fire mario and I killed him in ONE FIREBALL. I went back to the level later and did it with small mario and I easily jumped over his head before he could attack, and thats a problem.

Overall: 44/50 (yes you get 10 free points)
The game was good for a remake, but could be changed to better replicate the original Super Mario Bros feel.

I played this hack, hoping for a great remake of SMB1. I got what I wanted, but there is one issue that I can't ignore - the pipe from 4-2 to world 5 leads to level 0/100.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Graphics: I think you have done well with the NSMB Graphics, but you could have made your own or used some original graphics.
-B-

Music: Brilliant! NSMB Music is quite good, in my opinion.
-A-

Overworld Design: The overworld isn't that great, but SMB1 doesn't have a lot of variety in it's levels, therefore, the overworld will be OK here. One thing I liked though, was the use of the Warp Zone.
-C-

Level Design: I can't really comment on the Level design since it is a remake of Nintendo's game. From what I saw, the remake is quite close to the original game, so well done.
-A-

Overall: This is the best remake of SMB1 here, in my opinion.
The extra work has gone into this hack to keep the original features of the game. (No backwards scrolling, Bowser battles)
Grade B

Very good hack, I loved every minute of it. Well, almost every minute of it.

The problems:

The underwater areas now have ceilings which will sometimes prevent Big Mario from going through up top. (a feature that kind of helps me navigate through the water areas in the original)

Almost any level that has Cheep-Cheeps and Bullet Bills coming from off screen will have them completely swarm the area. (this is a really big problem with the bridge levels)

The aforementioned 4-2 pipe that is supposed to lead to world 5, but doesn't. (maybe this could be fixed by putting a keyhole there instead of a pipe?)

No halfway points midlevel can be a major pain in the butt sometimes. (especially on the bridge levels with the swarming Cheep-Cheeps) Perhaps you could put the SMW checkpoint in there, but disable the growth effect that it gives)

All in all, it was an awesome hack. It was certainly better than Super Mario Bros. DX

I hope you decide to make a remake of SMW with these graphics, that would be totally sweet. :D

NRMB was one of the first hacks I downloaded, and I must say that I really enjoyed playing it! Your use of NSMB graphics was smooth and fit the levels very well. I don't know about anyone else, but this hack has definitely got me excited for New Super Mario Bros: Wii.

There was, however, one major flaw that several people have already mentioned. The end-of-level bonus room pipe from 4-2 to world 5 leads to a bonus room--and an unplayable one at that. I really liked world 5, what with the Mario Kart 64 music, and it's a shame that the shortcut doesn't work.

Aside from that, you did an amazing job!

Yeah, I think that this hack is the most nearbly SMB remake version, this took me a month for draw sprites and ripping graphics. Now I answer
your questions.
Alcazar:

*I haven't idea, Is probable that the patches made it.
*Ha!, I wanted put these but knowing the smw graphical limitations, this is impossible.
*I forget it...
*I forget it...
*The overworld is a great trouble, I wanted put water, but another time, the smw graphical and palette limitations.

Luigi-San:
Yeah the 4-2 warp pipe to world 5 have a problem because these do not connect to any side, because the overworld only allows a secret exit.

I hope make new remakes, in this time I'm working in SMA4 E-world, but I want to make SMB Lost Levels.

Its really one of the best hacks for SMB.
It contains a "real" warp zone and not going straight to a predefined world like the others and has the old "forward only" scrolling (although it seems to not work in all levels - like 2-3, 4-1, 6-1 and 7-3, maybe due to the flying-fish and lakitu sprites).

Overworld looks nice and music is suitable.

Now for the "-":
* Why doesn't the timer stop when reaching the goal?
* The small and big castles at the start and end of the levels are missing.
* If remembered correctly, Bowser needed 5 fireballs to defeat, not only one...
* As nearly all of the SMB Hacks, you forgot too, that in Level 7-1 right before the first pipe where you have 3 bullet-bill machines, one of the breakable blocks right of the raised bullet bill contains a multiple coin block.
* How about marking the levels 1-2 and 4-2 as "underground" on the overworld as well as 2-2 and 7-2 as "water" level?
(using images like Yoshis Island 4 and Donut Plains 2 had)

So, overall its a 8.

@Luigi-San: Do you mean the pipe on the end of 4-2 that lead in the original game to world 5?

I love NSMB. Now, this is one of my favorites! Your work is awesome, Luigi-San, the levels are the same and exactly the way they were in SMB. The GFX are very good, but the only thing that was messed up, was the eggs at the end of the hack. But other than that, this has been one of my favorites!

I noticed a major problem in 4-2. If you enter the pipe that's supposed to lead you to the secret exit, you wind up in an endless bonus game, so you're forced to die.

Otherwise, nice work. :)
