| Description: | The first demo of my hack: Super Mario Versus Bowser's New Army.
There are 2 worlds, and a missing level (try to find it).
This demo contains ExGFXs, customs musics and customs blocs/sprites (but not a lot).
If you found any errors, glitchs, or spelling mistake, please tell me what is it.
And for the Overworld event glitch, I used the owfix. But if you still see this glitch, restart the game and it disappear definitively.
So, play and have fun! ;) |

| Review by triskalguilo | Pretty good hack. A bit on the easy side, but that's the way I like 'em. I always applaud an author that DOESN'T make a hack whose sole purpose is to be ridiculously hard. I bet you could get through it without abusing save states, even though I did anyway, because I've gotten used to it from other hacks
Feels a bit unfinished, though -- Bowser mentions there being four "generals", but right after that is the end of the demo? Or perhaps they're in the "missing level" (which I didn't find). There's some overworld glitches in world 2, but it has no effect on playability. And there was a level with an area whose floor moved up and down that looked to be pretty much impassable to me.
Other'n that, like I said, pretty good hack. I look forward to more from this author. | | Posted by: triskalguilo - 2010-07-13 02:18:05 AM |

| Review by Kernigh | 10 before penalties
-2, world map glitches
-1, only about 13 levels
Rating: 7
The plot of this hack is typical, but acceptable for a Mario game. Bowser has created a New Army and kidnapped the Princess Peach! One of the toads in the village appropriately mentions, "I wonder how many times Bowser has kidnapped Peach."
Demo 1 of Super Mario Versus Bowser's New Army has only two worlds. There is evidence that the game is not complete, but the hacker intends to add more levels. The existing levels already form a workable beginning of an adventure. Demo 1 has no ghost houses nor switch palaces, but one level requires Mario to active P-switches, and the game provides a variety of ways for Mario to take hits from enemies or fall to death. The game also boasts a large collection of graphics; the first boss in the first castle is a good example.
I explored the entire demo 1, and saved some of my observations in a collection of screenshots. My screenshots of Chemical Spaceship, a secret level of the second world, show how the game sometimes feels incomplete.
-->
I began the level by kicking the shell and running rightward to earn the usual one-up. When the shell bounced, Mario jumped, but he had a cape, soo he flew above the wall. I accessed a secret area, but it was empty, so I had to fly back. The planned secret might be some extra lives, or a door to another secret level, but demo 1 has nothing there.
Super Mario Versus Bowser's New Army has its difficulty, more than Super Mario World. The first world already contains a number of Chargin' Chucks. The second world is the sky world, with many options to fall and lose and life. As I play this hack, the levels become more familiar, and this game is ultimately easier than some other SMW hacks. I can collect all five dragon coins and earn the extra life, without the extra effort that I would need in other SMW hacks. With a cape feather, Mario can float across some jumps, instead of bouncing from a bullet.

The worst feature of this game is that the world map produces some very serious glitched graphics as Mario advances from certain levels. These glitches do ruin the carefully designed world map. The glitches persist until the player resets the game. For these glitches, I subtract 2 points from the rating. Fortunately, these glitches only appear at the world map and never appear in levels.
Because this is a short game has only two worlds, I also subtract 1 point. I award a rating of 7, equal to my rating for Every Level Iggy!. | Posted by: Kernigh - 2009-04-03 08:28:17 PM |

| Review by Foursword4 | I want to say that I haven't had this much fun in a hack for a long time. Everything flows perfectly, and you really get a nice feel for the hack.
You start off in a rather peaceful setting. You have access to a nice town that has places to explore and locals to talk to. The levels of the first world don't have anything special, but they are enjoyable nonetheless. The music really adds depth to these levels, and the graphics are superb as well.
Things really pick up after the first world. I was rather surprised to see how the hack turned partly into the second world. The new approach was excellent though, and nothing seemed too out of place. You keep everything at a steady difficulty level, and I never had too much problem figuring out a puzzle or getting through a group of enemies. As mentioned before, you have an excellent taste in music, as each level's musical score was excellently chosen. The graphics also helped flush out your new story.
I also managed to find the secret level. I was surprised to find it, as I didn't read your little notice beforehand. That was probably the biggest challenge in the hack...reaching that secret level
I'm also glad you were able to fix that OW sprite glitch. It was a shame to have to reject this because of it, as the hack was flawless otherwise.
I recommend everyone to give this hack a go. It's an excellent hack, and since it's not too long, it will provide a quick, yet enjoyable experience. | | Posted by: Foursword4 - 2009-04-01 12:01:33 AM |
