Description: Oh no! Just when the new Yoshi Cookie factory was about to be opened, Bowser showed up and kidnapped Peach, Yoshi, and all of the workers! This threatens the entire Dinosaur Land cookie production! Mario, you have to save them so that the factory can open!

What started out half a year ago as a generic first Lunar Magic vanilla hack (no floating munchers, though) has now started to evolve into a full-fledged hack, containing some self-drawn graphics, a couple of self-made custom bosses, and, most important, what several people have referred to as good level design. I hope you enjoy playing it!

This hack is epic. I love the level design, the sprites and the palletes.

Level design: 9.5/10. Really good level design, some of them are a bit hard.

OW: 7.5/10. It's a demo, so some areas are empty or need more decoration. Also the OW is similar to the original SMW OW but i know that you don't write your Ow over the main SMW OW.

Graphics: 9/10. Basic, simply and... really funtional. I love your palletes also.

Sprites/blocks/Asm: 10/10. You are the creator of the most custom sprites used here in SMWC. Also i like the few ASM used.

Music: 9/10. Good choice of musics!

Story: 7.5/10 Simply but funtional. It has some of Bowser kidnap Peach but ok, the story don't cut the gameplay.

Replay value: 8.5/10. I played it two times. Althogh i get tired to play hard levels or levels that weren't fun at all (there are one or twice of those levels only)

Overall: rounded to 9/10. This hack is epic. Please, release a full version of this soon, this is one of my favourite hacks.

I just finished playing this hack, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it!

Level Design: 7.9/10
It was a hard hack. Some of the later levels were especially challenging--Roy's Castle and Cutoff Keep in particular; however, the difficulty did not detract from my enjoyment in any way. To me, a good Super Mario World Hack is one that feels like a real Nintendo game, and there were a few times when I forgot that I hadn't paid to play this game.

Music: 8.1/10
A wide variety of music was used in this hack, each piece perfect for its location. While I did not personally like one or two songs, the music added an overall sense of completeness to the game.

Custom Aspect: 7.9/10
The ExGFX, custom blocks, and sprites/bosses were executed well, with few flaws. There were no eye-searing palettes, the blocks made enough sense that I didn't need a message block telling me what they did, and I enjoyed going up against the custom bosses.

Overworld: 8.0/10
I don't design overworlds, so my score is based on appearance rather than functionality. Again, I make the point that this hack felt like a legitimate Nintendo game, added to by its overworld and submaps. While I find the use of trees as level markers to be a little...odd, and while the palette of the overworld was a bit darker than I've seen in most hacks, the different maps were well-designed.

Holistic score: 7.9/10
This is a good hack with a lot of merit. I choose the hacks I play with care, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality game.

****MINOR SPOILERS****
I suppose I should review this one again, as my previous one was crap.

Level Design: 10/10

The level design was brilliant. There were no boring levels, and the gimmicks some of them had were stunning. They were non-linear and fun to play, and there were some that shone above the rest, which is good. The difficulty was a good standard throughout the whole hack. My favourite level was Happy Koopa Airways, because it's just such a wonderful idea, and it's made so well. I love the idea of an airline based level, where you ride a platform to the other end while being attacked by Bullet Bills. It's a wonderful level. Another memorable level was Generic Grassland. I like the way it's done, and I did not expect that at all. To have everything upside-down, and then to have it done so well, it was also a very good level. I honestly think these are some of the best designed levels I've ever seen. Keep up the great work.

Overworld Design: 9/10

The overworld is brilliant. The worlds are well designed, and they have plenty of decoration. I think there could've been a bit more variety in the worlds, but it is still very good, and it fits the levels perfectly.

Plot: 8/10

The plot, while good, is not the best I've seen. I like the fact you've used the 7 eggs and changed them into cookies. While I prefer hack that don't use the 7 eggs as a main focus, the way you've used it is decent.

Graphics: 10/10

The customizations in this game are brilliant. The Graphics are some of the best, if not the best, I've ever seen. The game is wonderful to look at, and it sets you up for a really fun game. Every level has wonderful GFX, and the palettes are used wonderfully. Sometimes I just stopped to have a look at the graphics, I liked them so much. The FG works well with the BG on every occasion, and they look wonderful together. My favourite graphics form the game would have to be from the lab themed levels, where everything is white and grey, going for a kind of chrome effect. And even when ExGFX weren't used that much in the level, the palette took over, and the level had no need for ExGFX. The palettes used are just stunning. The status bar is decent, and I like the way it's set out. Another thing I love is the way the Dragon Coins are replaced with cookies. It is such a small modification, but it adds so much to the theme of the hack, and fits the plot perfectly. The graphics would be the main thing in this hack if the level design wasn't so good.

Extra Points: +3

I'm giving you these extra 3 points just because of how far this hack has come from the previous version. The previous version (0.52) was great in terms of level design, but was vanilla so the plot didn't fit too well. Because you have added your own Graphics to this, it's just lifted the hack so high up, and despite only having one more level form the previous version, so much has been done. This truly is a big step forward.

Overall: 40/40

This is truly what I think about this hack. I believe it is perfect, and the best on SMWCentral at the time of posting. I cannot wait to see the next version and I am confident it will be better than this one, if that's even possible. Keep up the good great work, you are definitely a very talented hacker.

This is probably the best hack I've seen. Every level is truly unique. It's not just Blah 1, Blah 2, Blah 3 like most other hacks. The level design is phenomenal. The music choice is great. This hack actually has difficulty to it too. I feel this site is heavily biased against difficult hacks (Not necessarily Kaizo) so it's nice to see a hack with good difficulty here. The custom palettes are also nice. I don't really care about story in a Mario game. Who plays Mario for the story? So having a standard simple story is fine by me.

Story: 7/10 (3.5)
Graphics: 10/10 (25)
Design: 10/10 (40)
Music: 10/10 (15)
Difficulty: 10/10 (15)

Overall (not an average) 98/100

This hack deserves to be in the top 5.

This hack was freakin' amazing. Probably the best hack I have ever played, and I have played through most completed hacks on the site.
**SPOILERS BELOW PROBABLY**
Level Design: 9/10
The level design was one of the greatest partws of the hack, and there were some damn hilarious! Like the part where you kill Mario, and where you get transported inside the green switch, etc.
Very nice puzzles, and awesome gimmicks, such as Cutoff Keep, Turn Block Bridge, the Sub Zero Prison,Verdant Path,(I think thats the name) the list just goes on and on. The custom bosses you made were also really cool, especially Cutoffness man. The only problem with the hack is that it is quite hard. I beat the thing completely save stateless, but I got game over'd 40+ times. The chomps in Cutoff Keep and The Green Switch are really unpridictable. It gets sort of annoying after a while.
Music: 8/10
The music in the hack is very well picked out. The grassland theme in most of the early levels is meh. But the first OW music is from Paper Mario, and I just sat there and listened to it for a while. I LOVE that song. Other than that most of the music was pretty good, not amazing, but good.
Overworld: 9/10
The overworld was one of the best parts of the hack. There was a little bit of cutoff, but not much, and the main overworld was awesome, how you were climbing a mountian. The music on the overworlds all fit well. The concept of an underground forest was amazing, I want to know where you get all of your creativity juices!
Graphics: 10/10
The palettes in this game were freakin' amazing. I love the redrawn graphics you made also. There was almost no cutoff, excluding Cutoff Keep. My favorite palette in the whole game was probably Turn Block Bridge. The greyness is fantastic! I seriously can't find any problems with the graphics.
Story: 7/10
though the story was simple, it is pretty awesome. I love how all the yoshi coins are turned into cookies, and when you get one it makes a burping sound. The story also works with the cut scenes after castles.
Probably the best 'average' story I've ever seen.
Fun: 10/10
Like I said, best hack I've ever played! All the gimmicks go smoothly with the music. The level design makes me want to go play it again. (which I probably will). I mean, if I get game over'd 10+ times on The Green Switch, and I kept playing.
That's saying something. Awesome work, and I can't wait for the full version.

53/60
8.8/10 or 9/10.
Huh... Same score as the Essence Star.

My review:

After played and found all 46 exits, i will give my opinion, and my opinion is really really negative! First of all, at beginning, level design was quite OK, although a bit difficult, then, after a lot of levels, it got to be really rotten! At all! Nearly all levels were "unplayable without savestates" such as "Mad Muncher Mansion" or "#Ludvig's castle" or many other levels!!!!!! What about the first one i mentioned? Without savestates, that would be just stressful, much more stressful!!! Your levels gets to be unfunny and stressful, if you try to play them without savestates! And i have some examples:
Cliffside climb: this part was just insane and i needed a lot of savestates for getting rid of this part!
Mad Muncher Mansion: This level is just senseless, in a hack that should be projected to have a sense! Also, this part... for the 90% you get hurt by those flying munchers V_v
Invisible keep: In this level, if you don't get in time to the next check point (supposed to be the P-switch) you have to lose: this annoyes the player (unfortunately, this annoyes me). Even this past, you need a bunch of savestates!
Difficulty is not alone to do the bad thing: there are some unfair parts, like the spinies falling in "Treetop trail", ot much other "kaizoish" traps! This hack really reminds me "Kaizo Mario World"!!! Also, i have seen a lot of senseless features! A SMW hack should seem a real game and not mention those crappy SMWCentral memes, likes Cutoffman, munchers or Rom corruptions!!! I have just made like Samus Aran when i got those senseless and inchoerent features! I have some examples for this too: Generic grassland: how the hell Mario would know what are you talking about? Mario world is not related to ROM-hacking! Cutoff keep: let me say this: the following level is just an excuse to make cutoff part in your hack, also, another pointless reference to SMW hacking! Temporal distorsion: First, another usual boring remake level from SMB1 1-1, then, over the flag pole you must kill Mario, then... mmmh... What? Mad Muncher Mansion: You can pick those not hurting munchers with no tooth ... *oh god* this was really missed: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....
Talking about the graphics: i only liked the castle graphics: the rest was just bad. At all. Especially the cave one: cave graphics were not sweet to my eyes: it seemed rotten cheese with tomato, seriously! I really don't like the graphics, much less palettes: only castle palettes were good, in my opinion, the rest was just one-color scene! i'll explain what i mean: Turn block bridge: Oh noes!, Both FG, both BG, both sprites and nearly everything else have the same colors!!!! Like Roy's castle and Hammer Bros domain! Oh Gawd! You really need to make pratice with palettes! Bowser's Lava Land, for example: Well, I would not use outlines to passable objects, if you don't know they are passable, but combined with the BG, it confused me! a lot! Use different palettes!!!
For the overworld and submaps... Checking in Lunar Magic (i discovered some unused levels, like the famous train level i have heard time ago) i don't get why you used paths in Layer 1 event mode: quite pointless. Besides that, i'll say that the overworld is okay: various terrain, cool decorations: okay, only compliant is the palette: too dark for terrain tiles and bright for water tiles: i would change it! The music? well, that is okay too, in my opinion. You used music from other games: you could use your own soundtrack, though. As for puzzles, well, it is good, but it gets to be bad due of the "insane" HELLevel DIEsign. The plot is the usal generic from other Mario games, but... What???? This says "The cookie crisis", but it doesn't have a nothing than a heck of stressful level design: besides the Yoshi Coins... where is this matter of cookies described on the intro??? I just say: NOWHERE!!! This hack doesn't have anything related to a cookie crisis, besides Yoshi Coins and intro scene! You just got blinded by those ridicolous SMWCentral memes and weirdo ideas that you completely took away those cookies! When the game goes to "Cutoff Keep", the game loses completely the "cookie" concept (in Mad Muncher Mansion too)!!
About ASM: asm are simple and good, but used really badly! Cutoffman boss, eating chomps, etc... WHAT? they make cutoff and the concept makes me angry, since huge cutoff is not allowed here and you used this concept only to make cutoff!!
The replay value? well, if this would have been a complete hack, well, i wouldn't want to play this hack anymore!!!!
Going to rate. I don't need to explain why i give votes, since i just said all above:

Level design = 2/10
Graphics = 3/10
ASM = 8/10 (but used badly :[ )
Creativity = 6/10 (i'll explain why: sometimes ideas were good, but then you got to use those ridicolous SMWC memes)
Overworld = 7/10
Palettes = 4/10
Music = 7/10
Plot = 2/10
Fun = 4/10 (i just expect to use a bunch of savestates :[ )
Overall = 3/10

Adding: 43/100 = 4,3/10 = 4/10
This hack, in my opinion is getting only 4/10!

This is a back-seat gamer review:

Fun: 10/10 - Quite challenging, and the replay lasts a while.
Creativity: 20/10 - Some of these levels are absolutely fantastic! (To borrow SirRonLionHeart's word) My favorites are Collapsed Castle, Puzzling Pipes, Ludwig's Castle, and Invisible Keep (Which could've easily been a least favorite except that it was executed perfectly.)
Looks: 7/10 - design-wise, it is beautiful, however, I have a few qualms with the monochromatic feel of the majority of the levels.
Tedium: 9/10 - For the most part it is not a tedious game, though there are a few times... (primarily things like Verdant Way, the challenge is good, but not seeing too well is kind of tiresome...)
Music: 10/10 - I like the wide range of musical choices, for the most part they fit perfectly.
Puzzles: 10/10 - The puzzles are difficult, but not perversely so, and the reset doors are always a fantastic help.
Custom things: 9/10 - For the most part the creative stuff is great, though I am wondering if there could be more... (Perhaps you planned more and just haven't done it yet...)

In all the game gets a perfect 10/10, it was a great joy to watch, and then play, and is, in fact, the reason I downloaded an emulator for this computer :)

Domiok Edit: (No, do not comment on someone else's Review. If you'd like them to consider revising it, just send them a message about it.)

@shinnok
So, whats this: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6559/cookies00000.png ?
Also with cutoffness in Waterwork Hill: think before you say something: this is waterfall, and the pipes generate waterfalls. The waterfalls doesn't fill, not like the water. Waterfalls falls...

Overworld: It's very similar to original, first world is grassland, second is... also grassland ;), third is cave, fourth is high, five is forest, six is beach (nearly chocolate ;)). But only is layouts. The overworld isn't like original one, it's competely new isle, I'm not notificed cut-off (I don't count Cutoff Keep cutoff, because it's something other...). But beach looks strangely for me :(. (6/10)

PS. Also after writing this review I noticed this: http://img150.imageshack.us/content.php?page=done&l=img150/9095/cookies00001.png (but this small bug because you can't notice this without scrolling). I know limitations of SMW hacking, and I don't know how to fix this without killing the smoke in Yoshi's Island like world (the level names doesn't includes worlds).

Level design: YES! The best ideas... for example munchers ghost house (warning! floating munchers ;)), broken castle, Airways (which hides it's dark side), giving SMB1 Mario 1UP, beating Cutoffness ;). But be careful, the gravity.asm may be corrupted :(. The best! (11/10)

Graphics: Isn't vanilla, but most of graphics are in Mario Style (the SMW graphics was redrawned ;)), some of levels have graphical clash with rest of game: to be exact "Temporal Disortion", "Cutoff Keep", "Testing Facility". With SMW style the SMB3 in Allstars and SMW looks best. And to many level are grayscale :(. Anyway, redrawn looks great! (8/10)

Very good hack! Yes. I can even give a ten ;). (10/10)

Review by Shinnok
The hack is good and it has potential. Just have some things I'd like to point out..

-Level Design: 9.6/10 - The level design is the most important factor, and it's the best thing on the hack. It isn't just 10 because of that level called Waterworks Hill. All pipes present in this level + water and waterfalls = cutoffness. You can see this in the first part of the level. Plus, these two small issues:

Picture 1 and Picture 2.

-Overworld Design: 8.2/10 - Mask of the original SMW overworld, seeing the first two worlds are grass-themed, then you enter in a door that leads to world #3 that is a dome, then you enter in a pipe where it leads to the top of the mountain where's the short world #4, enter in a forest that is world #5.. I really hope world #6 isn't going to be Chocolate Island and #7 Bowser's Submap. Also, we aren't supposed to enter in the red switch palace, so why did you put red blocks in your levels.. weird. And, last but not least, you should put decoration in the ocean, it looks boring. Then you look at the palletes, level locations, paths and secrets - they all are good.

-Graphics: 10/10 - Vanilla in the majority, but the custom palletes you have used were great, and you did a good job editing the original SMW Graphics.

-Plot: 7/10 - Well, another 7 egg plot involving Bowser and Toadstool. Not too original, but at least you included a new element here, it is the Yoshi Factory. I honestly think a better plot would be a nice addition to your hack.

-Music: 9.5/10 - Besides the fact the first level music, not only the first, but I just renember that level it was used is annoying because of the orchestra hit, every music fits well in the area it's put.

-ASM Stuff: 10/10 - Nice job with it. The bosses were at the same time, simple and good. Activating the thwomps with the ON/OFF switch was a neat idea also. On overall, excellent.

-Overall: 9,05/10 - It goes to 9. It was a good hack to play, having four excellent things: Level design, music choice, graphics and ASM stuff. And 2 regular things: Overworld design and plot. By the way, the last too were the main factors that made the hack with a rating 9 instead of 10, as you can notice.

Review by Thundahack
Most of this hack is quite vanilla, as you can see. And, for me, there's where it shines. This hack really shows how you can bend the original SMW in never seen before ways. So much different gimmicks put into this using the original SMW... Wow. Very nice job, Yoshi Cookie Zeus (I'm calling you that, ok?).

Graphics: 10/10

Even if I loved what you did with the original SMW and palettes, I have to say that these custom graphics are amazing! And they go well with the SMW style, too. Outstanding job on this. Oh, and I did not spot any cutoffness in this.

Music: 10/10

Nice job on this. You made a great selection of music that really goes well with the enviroment. The level music can be calming or thrilling to the player, depending on where you use it. The OW music also does a nice job in pleasing the player's ears.

ASM: 10/10

Good god, you did a good job on this. The ASM you implemented in some levels, such as various types of blocks and sprites, really makes this hack and it's puzzles flexible. It makes the hack go really creative all of a sudden. Also, great job on the custom bosses.

Overworld: 10/10

Amazing. Palettes work really well in every area, as well as the music which gives a feeling to it. I did not spot any of the usual corner tile errors or the cliff errors, so it is perfectly fine. Events seems to activate properly, and levels are put into nice places.

Story: 10/10

While still going with the "Mario has to save 7 people/things/etc" type of storyline, it is different than the rest. What started out as an innocent opening of a factory near the house of Yoshi is turning into an epic tale as Mario battles the villains.

Level Design: 10/10

No flaws. Really creative level design has been put into the hack. Levels weren't easy by any means, but they weren't hard as hell. It had the right difficulty, as well as a variety of nice gimmicks and everything.

Fun: 10/10

I really enjoyed playing this hack. I never suffered from annoyance of frustration while exploring it's levels. And fun is what really counts, no?

Overall: 10/10

Perfect. This deserves to be a featured hack, and it also deserves to be the number 1 hack on the site. Keep this up, Yoshi Cookie Zeus. It seems you are the creator of the best hack in the entire site, and possibly more.
