Description: Hey kids. Today I have something really special to show you. Ever get tired of SMKDan being the only one who can drive the desert bus? Ever wanted to try it out yourself? Have no idea what I am talking about? Well this is the hack for you my friend.

The aim of this is to pack all the fun and excitement of the original game into one convenient mini game, utilizing only SMW's limited capabilities. After days years of development, I think I have finally emulated the game well enough for it to be respectable. Think about it, no stops, no speed limits*, no potty breaks, just you and the open road. Of note: This hack is a tad on the long side, so make sure you have time before you sit down to play it. So yeah. Get your comfy chair, Download the hack, patch it to your ROM, then hang on for the time of your life!

Ladida's note: There is an end, so stop being lazy and drive the 8 hours >:(

What's the matter with you people?

Boring? BORING?! This game is BEAUTIFUL!

Graphics: 8/10
Although I felt like it almost got repetitive, the sheer beauty of the sand, the cacti, the rocks... even the bus gives me chills! I never knew you could reach such realistic heights could be reached on a SNES!

Gameplay: 9/10
I felt the story was rather basic, but to me, it didn't matter.
The simple two-button controls and the inviting stretch of road kept me addicted to this game, even in the later, more difficult stages (more than I can say for Angry Birds).

Music: 10/10
Although there was only one track, it must take up all the remaining freespace, because there must've been an incredible amount of sampling put into it.
It sounded so much like what you would hear if you actually drove a bus through a desert. The harsh, hot environment, the wildlife surviving against all odds, the cool breeze against the windshield.
Mere minutes into the game, I shed tears of joy.

Level Design: 9/10
I don't find the levels depict very well how real roads are.
I think this game improved it.
Seriously, I can't believe how fun the first few stretches of road were, how challenging the last few could be. Truly a source of inspiration for even the best of hackers.

Overall: 9/10 (36/40)

This is everything I expect from an amazing game. I hope to see many more like this in the future.
Maybe, if it's not too much trouble... a sequel?

I know, it's a great standalone game and nothing can compare to it, but I'm just holding out hope that one day, I'll be able to drive the desert bus on the freeway.

Okay, first of all, it's impressive how you turned SMW into a driving game. The way you done it however is not. First of all, why does the bus never drive straight? Is the driver drunk? Is he falling asleep? I don't know what your intentions were, but if it was to add dificulty, you took a bad step. Maybe if you ever plan on re releasing this, you could scrap that mechanic and replace it with hthings like obsticals on the road, like fast cars you have to avoid. Also, don't make the levels so bloody long! 8 hours? We have lives... follow our advice, and you will have a fun little hack here! :)

Probably the most boring thing I've ever played. I lasted roughly 2 hours before I said screw this. I'd actually never thought I'd ever play it. But I had the urge, and I payed for it. I do have to give credit for the Graphics and things like that. And don't get me wrong, This isn't a bad hack, it's just not entertaining. Yet it was made very well, and it must have been very time consuming (as are most great hacks) So I'll go ahead and give this hack-45/50

I only played a little bit and got bored of it. I don't think I feel the need to finish this hack, and for good reason. I understand you warned me in the description that I need a lot of spare time, but this is not even fun or challenging. It's tedious. All I do is drive a bus through a desert in a cut and paste environment for hours, while the bus automatically steers to the right so that I can't just weigh down the accelerator key. You might as well be asking me to drill a hole through a brick wall using just an ordinary sewing needle. Also, the player doesn't need that much spare time if they just savestate every few minutes in case they mess up and have to be towed back to the start, ruining the 'magic' of the original Desert Bus, which I never wanted to play anyway. I don't think this hack was even meant to be played, just to show off graphics and a total genre shift.
The only good thing about this hack is the stunning originality. It's not even a Mario game anymore, but a driving game, and I have no idea how you did that, and I probably don't care because the explanation may be too complicated for me.
Summary: I do not like this hack. There are a whole lot of interesting things I could be doing in the span of 8 hours than playing a game where the only thing good about it is its uniqueness.

Familiar with Desert Bus, the awesomely time-spending video game, I immediately knew what to expect . . . And was rather happy with the results.

Graphics: 10/10 Custom, custom, custom!!

Gameplay: 10/10 Exactly what to expect from Desert Bus. Driving the vehicle through the desert is a reminder of life's subtle gifts to offer (i.e., the lone cactus, the dry rock of which no hands have touched, etc).

Level Design: 10/10 Fabulous scenery of a ride from Tucson to Las Vegas.

Replay: -- Although I did not finish your hack because of the inordinate time required for driving on the desert road, I assume that the end was stunningly similar to the game you had in mind.

TOTAL: 30/30 PERFECTA!! =^_^=

Protip: If you don't know the original game, don't review this.

Graphics:

7/10

Could have been better, but the cactus was just breath-taking!
When I first encountered one after figuring out the (by the way, AWESOME AND EASY) controls, I just stared at it for the time it was on screen.
When it slowly faded out of my sight I felt a numb feeling of sadness and depression and my heartbeat slowed down and I felt sick, but then, out of nowhere, another cactus!
It felt like a whole new start and I finally saw a point in my life, I guess this was meant to convey the message "No matter how often you fall down, as long as you stand up every time".
Just awesome.

Gameplay:

10/10

I won't really rate the gameplay itself, but how near it was to the original game.
Simply awesome.
It felt just like the original.
You, like, press a button and... drive.
Just like in the original, you were slowly drifting to the left, so you had to tap right every once in a while, which also added to the fun.
The whole game was a huge, single, awesome story of how your future could look like; you could either learn for school now, get a good job, live in the high society and be respected or you could drive the desert bus.
It all depends on you and your will to do the right thing; you just have to tap right once in a while.

Atmosphere:

9/10

The loneliness you feel in this game is fascinating, your only friends are the occasional cactus and the rare rock, on your way to a group f tourists that are expecting a fun ride back home, through even this desert.
The heat could make you crazy after a while, just like this game.

Replay value:

0/10

You don't want to experience this intense game again after you first played it, it's like the game is a really long version of one of these shocker-maze games, you play it once and never want to see it again afterwards.
But for the time playing it you had more fun than you ever had and you get this ticklish feeling in your arms after trying it ten times in a row.

Overall:

10/10

A masterpiece.

PROTIP: Make sure there's a way for people to know there was an original, review above...

I went insane playing this hack. and I have played one full hour and still had no progress. I have seen the same repeated tiles at lest 100 times (half way though i counted how many i went by, i was at 50), I also realized the pattern was Left(cactus), Right(cactus), Left(Rock), Right(Cactus), blank desert, Right(Cactus), Even Moar Blank desert then before, repeat.

Half way though: (pic:How i felt)

"WTF END ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

3.1415926535897932384626433832795/10, In all categories.

(This is how it feels to play the game)

(Insert something annoying here)x200, YOU WIN!!! or not, you won't reach it, that's for sure.

(original idea was to type "DERP", copy&paste 168 times, but i thought i would get in trouble for that)

It might have been "a little fun" if you had added turtles or other obstacles on the road or at least a hint that I was actually making progress in the desert and not 4 cacti and 2 rocks over and over again. Possibly increase the speed a little.

I don't think I want to continue this after 20+ minutes of "gameplay" I only played it because I was curious what was in the end (If there ever were an end.)

1/10 for everything + 1 for custom graphics.

2/10.

I am completely and utterly dumbfounded by the wretched reviews that certain people are thrusting upon this masterpiece! The Indecency!

I myself find that this luxurious hack delivers an immensely elevated standard never before seen in the entire history of SMWCentral, such as a goddess standing amidst men, radiating in its glory!

From the very initial moment of starting up this beauty, my heart wept with utmost glee. The Graphics... The Gameplay... Everything correlates so well into an all-embracing marvel. After booting up, I set out upon my quest of traveling across the Southwestern United States. As Desert-Fox so elegantly put it, the intensity of the realism placed into this hack is incomparable. The roadway stretching out across Arizona ideally mimics real life in a fashion I believed was unattainable. But nay! I have thus been proven wrong with HuFlungDu's representation! Even the steering of the old, dilapidated bus is realistic beyond compare! Driving gives you the feeling of gripping the tattered steering wheel with your own two hands!

All in all, this could be arguably one of the greatest accomplishments of the 21st Century...

"Two roads diverged in a [desert], and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference." - Robert Frost

Ok, I'm not even done with the first level, and that's the problem.

It was just a copy/pasted design with the cacti and rocks in th e same position and distance from each other. The were no other cars or like animals crossing the road, absolutely nothing to add a difficulty factor.

After about 10-15 minutes of driving the same long road, I stopped. This hack had a unique concept, but you could have done so much more with it.

Seeing as how it was to replicate the "original game" it's probably a game I wouldn't buy. And about "fun and excitement" there was none for me. Just holding the A button and constantly pushing left. (since the bus kept inching towards the right) Not my idea of fun.

And judging by the other reviews, there's apparently no end.

I'm gonna say this straight out and honestly: Worst hack I've ever played. I don't even see how this got accepted, since I have more fun playing Kaizo hacks than this.

I actually thought, that when I entered the level: oh man, this IS gonna be the time of my life. But the time of my life I spent playing this was a waste.

1/10 simply because you added a touch of creativity into the concept.

This hack was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to fin--@!j1bc!jckc------

###STACK ERROR---REBOOTING###
...done

Graphics: 9/10 Fully custom, awesome title screen.

Gameplay: 10/10 AMAZING! It actually feels like a bus with a broken steering wheel. After 200 hours, I was fully immersed, I could feel the wind in my hair, the heat, slowly overcoming my consciousness. The hyperactive children and crying babies, eating into my patience. This was truly a hard-hitting hack. Both physically and emotionally.

Level design: 10/10 A perfect replica of the interstate road. Not a single detail was missed. I can only imagine how long it too for you to take photos, sketch and eventually layout the entire interstate. You must've been up for a week making sure the roads are exactly, perfectly copied. Truly magnificent.

Replay value: unknown, I am yet to finish this hack, but I'm sure I will, I can just feel it, I know it's almost done, it's only a few screen repeats away. Well, I guess it isn't, but that doesn't matter, because of the absolute integrity of this, I can keep playing forever, and ever, and ever, and ever.
