Review by Suiseiseki
This felt like I was playing a retail Mario game, it's that good. I just found this site, and I am very impressed with this hack.

Story 8/10 - There wasn't much story announced in the demo, so I just assume there's a princess kidnapped somewhere. Either way, story has little part in non-RPG SNES games.

Graphics 10/10 - Very well done. As mentioned before "the clash between 'SMB3' and 'Redrawn' GFX, was just 'icing on the cake'" I have to agree. It fits very well with the atmosphere and there's not so much background that it feels cluttered, yet not so little that it feels plain and boring.

Music 10/10 - I noticed some Donkey Kong Country 2 in the main level theme, which happens to be a very good song, and fits very nicely with the calm but eager pacing of the game.

Overworld 9/10 - I never really thought the overworld map screen was as important in a game. As long as you press up and you go up, it should be fine. It was designed well, and you don't have to path your way through little dots as in SMB3, though it does look a little silly walking through the background when turning, and sometimes the BMG doesn't play.

Gameplay 10/10 - As stated, this feels like a full retail demo, like I was reliving a classic Super Mario (Luigi) experience. The controls were tight, the levels not too difficult, yet not so easy that an experienced player would breeze through it. Very well done.

All in all, 47/50 is an excellent score, and I do hope the full game will come out soon. I also hope to see new items and powerups, as only the mushroom and fireflower are available in the demo.

This is my very first review, both in this site and overall.
So here are my opinions of this demo:

-Graphics (6/10)-
The levels do not match the theme of the overworld (unless it's supposed to be this way). Plus, the foreground, background and palette between each level and castle are rather stagnant.

-Overworld (3/10)
The laziest part of this demo. There's the path and level marks, but then the rest of it is ground with cacti. It looks like a desert, but from the level graphics, it isn't?

-Music (6/10)-
This demo could have used more variety of tunes, and it'd be nice if you've changed the music for the title and intro.
What bothers me the most is the one from Cave Story. Whichever author it is, it is messed up. You should use another version of that song.

-Story (xx/10)-
Apparantly, there isn't any (unless, as usual, the princess...).

-Gameplay (5/10)-
It's a bit lazy here as well. Every level, and the two castles (which isn't as bad), seemed practically the same as the others. Variable level design and structure would be much appreciated.
The levels are hardly challenging, and neither do they take long to complete, which warrants the lack of midway points.

-Fun Factor, And Overall (3/10)-
Sorry, but this demo is hardly any fun for me, mostly due to the stagnant level design and structure. It feels like this is an uninspired piece of work.
