Tip: If you give a muncher tile custom graphics, it will still act like a coin when a silver P-switch is active, whether it looks like a coin or not. So make sure to use ExAnimation if there's a silver P-switch in the area.

Before playing this hack, I supposed that it was about the graphic.

First, the intro is correct. No glitch.

Second, it's the same story. Nothing to complain here. I like that simple for a simple game.

Third, the level design is ok. Few parts for me are too abrupt, specialy for a level 2. But I find that one level can be very repetitive.

Fourth, I don't see any custom sprites, HDMA or gimicks with ASM here. So I think it's vanilla hack. Sometime, I prefer without these like in Super ''Mario'' World.

Fifth, the overworld is great. Just that you did not make events like the original. I think it's because at this time, you were not familiarised with editing the OW with Lunar Magic.

Sixth, in my opinion, your graphic can fit with the original, but not always. Some of yours are very strange like koopa troopa, buzzy bettle, wings and thwomp. Your goomba, mushroom and your fire flower is just crap. But the porcufish, the cheep cheep, the blurp, rex and bowser are great.
When I saw your thread about this hack with the masked koopa at the player, I though that you will use the mask as a powerup and a shelless koopa as small Mario. You did another and it's good. I know it's hard to make beautiful sprites, but I am sure that you can do better when Big ''Mario'' is ducking. Some poses are just very weird and just think that you play as a koopa.

In conclusion, I find this hack with great gameplay. I don't think it must be a featured one, but I am sure that the second one will be as a feature in SMWC. 42 levels are a lot. I recommand this hack for people who want to know what you can do with ''custom'' graphics. Messages boxes are great. They keep us in the good way.

If you want a result about 10. I give this a 7/10. it's actually a great work.

Yesterday I finished this hack. Yep, I am late, but I have still tons of hacks to play. At the beginning I didn't like its graphic style, but little by litlle I loved it.

Graphics: The sprites, level design and backgrouns are just hillarious, it looks like a game for children. The sprites remind me of Zoo Keeper, maybe they are based on that game?

Music: The same as the original mario world, ok. Next time add some music from yoshi's island, it'll be better.

Playing: the point of this hack, aside from the graphics, is that the levels are funny to play. I didn't have to use many savestates as it is fairly easy, besides you added many boxes with mushrooms/flowers, etc. The final boss couldn't be uglier, lol. Anyway I found some graphic glitch and slowdown when fighting him on psp, maybe the problem is the emulator, dunno, I didn't try on pc.

Thank you!!! 8/10

Overall, this hack was pretty fun to play, but some annoying issues held it back from perfection.
Level Design: 9/10: I personally found most of the level design very enjoyable. You introduced many new and creative ideas to spice it up.
Overworld: 6/10: It bugs me that I'm like this, but a ton of your perspective was completely wacko. It was hard to overlook most of it because most of the over world had it. I liked the W3 islands' placements. Also, you really should learn overworld events. It was confusing to know how much of the levels you'd beaten, and just gave it an unpolished and very awkward look.
Graphics: 6/10: To be honest, I don't really enjoy most of your graphics. It's not really the style that bugs me(although the pillow-shadedness adds a sense of "I don't know how to properly shade things"), I have no problem with the style, and I'm sure that style could be used to make nice graphics, but it was the graphics themselves that just were not very good. Most had odd shapes, and were very square/triangular. There were no clean curves in that respect. And they just looked awkward. I did like a few sprites quite a lot, but most were like... bleh. Most of the palettes were decent, however.
Music: 9/10: I don't care about custom music, SMW's music fit here most of the time.
Overall: 6/10: The levels themselves were fun, but it just felt kind of half-assed. It felt like not much effort was put towards things like learning overworld events, making sure graphics/the overworld were not awkward and bad, and a lot of it just felt strewn together. The grammar and spelling were utter shit, no seriously, they were terrible. Many things like this and more just showed you didn't put much effort to polish stuff and make sure there weren't many oddities like that, and you just wanted to get done with it, release it when it was just barely acceptable, instead of trying to make it shine. If you spent some time cleaning it up more, I think it would be much better.

I'm going to be perfectly blunt. Although I did enjoy the hack I felt that it was extremely lucky to be featured. Just read my review...

Level design: 7/10

Some of it was REALLY good but then it was balanced out with horrific level design at some points. I'm talking mainly about all the "closed-quarters" sections of the hack such as caves, small platforms and corridors. I found these particular areas rather annoying since I found that half the time I was having to be very particular about how I moved. As well as there being a lack of powerups in some exremely overcrowded areas, I found myself hitting the save and rewind keys a lot during the later parts of the game.

Graphics: 5/10

Like the level design, the graphics ranged in this. I personally thought they were a nice touch but at the same time they didn't really do it for me.

Plot: 8/10

Same old generic "kidnapped princess" story line but this time with a whole new oddball cast. The Tuppa kids were very memorable IMO. Literally the only reason I only scored an 8 was because of the generic plot.

Overworld: 6/10

Yes I know this should've come after level design. Gimme a break... The overworlds design was fairly well put together but the fact that you don't seem to have quite mastered events yet was seriously bugging me throughout... I'd recommend you learn them of S"M"W2.

Overall: 6.5/10

Additional Scoring

6.5 rounded to 7.

-4 for lack of custom music = 3

+3 for entertaining scripting = 6

-1 for slap-dash ending with no proper ending message = 5

Final Total: 5/10

Oh wow. You've really grown on me as a SMW hacker and as a person as well. I'll admit, when you first showed up here on SMWC, I didn't like you. Your level design was bland, and I never really grew too fond of your graphical artwork. However, it's a been nearly two years, and you've really stepped up and proved yourself as a SMW hacker.

On the subject of the hack itself, it's just an all around fun time. A lot of your visuals seem like I've seen them in other hacks, but not execute correctly, like the background combinations and mixing tilesets. The graphic style has grown on me, personally it's not up to caliber as a 16-bit graphic lifestyle, but it's not really supposed to be. Just like how this isn't supposed to be Super Mario World, it's Super "Mario" World; a surreal adaptation. The length is just right, considering most hacks go up to 15 levels at most these days, it's always great to see a real full length game, that makes me want to replay it multiple times. Considering there's all ready a sequel in the works, I'm really looking forward to it.

Personally, I recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, full-length hack.

1UPdudes, I just tought you deserved a short review of this hack since it was some of the most enjoyable hacks I've played in a long time.

I'll just go with the regular template of reviewing except giving ratings. I've said some of this in your S"M"W 2 thread already tho.

Level design: Variation, straight forward, fair challenge, enough collectables, funny messages and well executed ideas generaly.

Level graphics: Mix between original SMW graphics and custom graphics, good palettes, funny, simple, creative.

Level music: Original SMW tracks that somewhat fits for once.

Overworld design: Variation, straight forward with some secrets.

Overworld graphics: Mix between original SMW graphics and custom graphics, good palettes, funny, simple, creative.

Overworld music: Original SMW tracks that somewhat fits for once.

Total experience: Constant style troughout the whole hack just makes me happy. This is a hack I will probably pick up again another time.

This is a hack you just can't miss, download and see for yourself!
