| Tip: Yoshi wings take you to level C8 or 1C8. Which one you get depends on the overworld level you're in. |

| Review by Q-bee | As I've promised, here's my review about your hack. I think I'm not good with numbers. So I'm just going to point out what I think about its features without giving them a specific score.
Level design: Simple design, with easy and pretty fun levels. Nothing is extremely plain nor linear. And decoration levelled up the feeling of each level. I really like simple things that are well done.
Graphics: Good graphics, also pretty simple, but decent. There's no clashing style; everything fitted very well with the ambiance. But I didn't like some palettes (sprite palettes, to be specific) - Mario's fireball looks rather weird. And same thing with the puff of smoke GFX, too. Its colors change depending on Mario's palette (when small/big/caped Mario, its shading is light blue, but when fiery Mario, it turns to red). What bugged me off, too, were the Koopa graphics. You didn't apply the (69+)83 fix patch, resulting in graphical glitch with the Jumping Piranha Plant's stem and the floating score sprite numbers.
Overworld design: Beautiful. I have no complaints. Decoration is varied, and the terrain is not plain nor square.
Music: Kudos for keeping the original SMW soundtrack. People just lost their love for SMW's music. But you've kept them there for great justice. You're my hero.
Plot: It's just a reason to make Mario face the baddies once more. This time it's for a piece of cake. It's not an epic thing, but it does well anyways.
Overall: Sweet. Just like a piece of cake. And congratulations on achieving your goal: you actually managed me to recall my early days on SMW hacking.
The amount of time I've spent playing this hack was not in vain. I highly recommend this to all SMW fans around the world (and outside, as well). It's awesome, despite the minor complaints I've pointed out. | Posted by: Q-bee - 2012-05-14 01:47:55 PM |
