| Review by Silver Scarlet | I finished your hack, whew. Let's comment it!
Level Design: 7/10 Your game is rich of nice segments and well designed...however, there are also some parts that are difficult to pass, and others even frustrating. The level design reached high levels...too high levels for even an experienced player.
Graphics: 8/10 I'll be honest: I don't like the style you've choose, but a thing is sure: it all fits great! I haven't saw any clashes or glitches, and this is an important factor, my friend.
Music: 7/10 Custom music exists, wery well-choosen. It would be cool, maybe, to have more musics in the hack...just saying.
ASM: 8/10 There's a lot of ASM, every boss is different. You used all the bosses of the site, I bet! ;)
Overworld: 9/10 Nice Overworld! No perspective errors, no glitches...all wonderful and nicely done!
Story: 6/10 Princess that have to be saved, etc... Too repetitive, but...it's acceptable, I guess...
Overall: 45/60 -> 7,5/10 Nice job! This is a cool hack, and nothing should stop the player to have fun.

| Review by Gloomy Star | First of all, I must say that I enjoyed this hack as a whole, because it was original and sometimes quite impressive considering the nature of its graphics, which was the main attractant in my opinion. Without further ado:
Graphics: 10/10 - It seems every single thing was custom made for this hack, which shows that you really put a lot of effort in this aspect. Most of them were eye-pleasing, except some things here and there, and some sprites could be a little better though. But anyway, still impressive.
Music Choice: 10/10 - Every level had a fitting track, and some were quite good to listen. You found the right tracks for the right ambiances/situations.
Story: 7/10 - I admit I was expecting more than that (the generic princess-saving from a bad guy), and the new enemy you chose wasn't that remarkable. But it's still different from SMW, so it has its merits.
Level Design: 9/10 - Overall impressive, but I think it was a bit too "complicated" (it had many slopes, obstacles, so it was rare to run) and some levels were quite tiresome, especially the narrow ones. @Edit: I was fishing the right word to describe it, now I got it: the level design is a bit complex, the unlinearity isn't a major problem.
Effort: 11/10 - Yes, I'm giving an extra point because you really deserve it. This hack was very well worked considering all aspects. Keep it up!
Originality: 10/10 - The whole hack was unique. Period.
Difficulty: 6/10 - That was the worst aspect of this hack. Despite the difficulty curve being good, many levels were insanely hard. Some bosses were simply unbeatable without save states.
Overworld: 8/10 - Overall good. Very well thought, the custom graphics rocked and the music of the submaps was fitting, but some of them were confusing because you couldn't see the paths and that yellow one with a "Mario" drawing at first glance looked like a bonus world, but the main game was still going on.
Replay Value: 3/5 - This is a remarkable hack, but the hard difficulty is fearsome and may discourage the players that finished it, but the big number of attractants may be something to consider too.
TOTAL SCORE: 74/85 = 87% (Excellent!) I do recommend this hack for people who are looking for something original. | | Posted by: Gloomy Star - 2012-10-07 08:14:20 AM |
