Submission Rules

NSMBW Mods
NSMBWii mods are either demo hacks or full hacks and should be submitted in the correct folder structure of the original game. Submitting your hack with the incorrect folder structure, causing the game to either not function or cause glitchy behaviour, will mean your hack gets declined. Screenshots are required on the submission page.

Copying levels from other users without permission will result in your hack getting declined immediately.

Type Folder structure File type
Levels Stage/ .arc
Tilesets Stage/Texture/ .arc
Music Sound/stream/ .brstm
Models (Used in levels) Object/ .arc
Models (Used in overworlds) WorldMap/ .arc

Please include a properly configured .xml file for Riivolution users.

NSMBW Levels
The above counts for this section as well, however keep in mind that this section is only meant for up to three levels per submission. Four levels could easily be considered as a demo hack, and therefore those should be submitted to the NSMBW Mods section.
Screenshots are required on the submission page.

NSMBW Models
When submitting, make sure your model file is named exactly after the one it should replace, also make sure to include a readme to let the user know which model it replaces. Screenshots are required on the submission page.

NSMBW Music
Do not include a .brsar file if you are submitting custom music. The .brsar file needs to be patched by the users themselves. Including a .brsar file would most likely override all of the changes the user has already made to his/her .brsar file.

It is required that there is a normal variant and a faster variant for your song, seeing as NSMB Wii has a sped up version of each song when Mario runs out of time. Not having two .brstm files will immediately get your submission declined.

The .brstm does not require to be renamed after an existing file, so you can name it whatever you like. The users are free to choose whichever song they wish to replace this with.

Important: please specify if your song is either single-channel or multi-channel. Single-channel songs should only be used with songs that aren't STRM_ files and Multi-channel songs should only be used on STRM_ files.

An .mp3 file is required in the .zip file for previewing purposes. .wav files cause big file sizes, which most likely ends up in your submission not being allowed. If you fail to include an .mp3 file, your submission will be immediately rejected.

NSMBW Tilesets (Section coming soon...)
When submitting, please specify what your tileset can be used for.

Your file name does not have to replace an existing file, so you can name it to whatever you like. Screenshots are required on the submission page.

Happy submitting!

Tilesets can contain anything, so this 'classification' is unnecessary; it's perhaps true for most of retail NSMBW sets, but is otherwise just limiting what you can do.

Often the Pa2 slot is just used as an extension of the Pa1 slot, for instance.

Wouldn't standard suite tilesets break on other suites? I don't know, I've never actually tried, but if it's true what you say I will get rid of that part.
Not really; you won't get overlays in Reggie which show you what each block contains, but otherwise it's possible to use them anywhere.

On the same note, you can put anything you want into Pa0 (as long as it's under a different filename) and it'll work.

Alright, I changed the rules on that part. I think we should be good to go from here on.
Would it be safe to assume that the Newer Team would be fine with me uploading NewerSMBW?
Newer is best left on it's dedicated site; if linking to the site is possible, then that'd be the best course of action.
That is, unfortunately, not the case. Ah well, maybe someone can throw out a thread linking to it.

I'm pretty sure 3D models aren't levels, please change this to "Objects".

Models for certain levels such as Goombas, Koopas, flag pole, etc.
One thing I'd like to question is this:

Why WAV over MP3? WAV files are unnecessarily large and would take up a ton more space in the long run. Like, a 3MB MP3 can be equivalent to a 20MB WAV (depending on quality/other variables), which is ridiculous. I can see where the idea comes from since the BRSTMs themselves are made from WAVs, but to just preview them an MP3 should be perfectly satisfactory.
soundcloud / bandcamp / twitter / buy/stream my EP / buy my touhou music / buy my NEW album!!!

They're still objects as long as they are interactive and putting (Models (levels) will confused people, level models would be something like trees or so.
Just change the (level) part to "objects".

This is true, but when previewing music tracks, wouldn't somebody normally just remove it from their computer after they approve it?

Don't forget there's a few users who got a bad internet connection. Bigger filesizes usually mean hell for them.
That could be true, as well.
