I want to cancel my ROM hack, but I DON'T want to, at the same time...

My PC went through a hard drive malfunction, I lost everything.

The latest version i have saved of the ROM, is when it was 40% complete...

The ROM was at around 90% completion when it was lost...

What should I do?
Call me Paint~
Well if you cancel it then it'll be back to 0%.
Unless you plan on quitting SMW hack in general, continuing from there should be the better option.

And that should probably be a good lesson to back your stuff up. Upload your ROM to dropbox every other day or so so you've always got an online backup you can download in case of an issue like this.

By the way, could you get rid of the "nice" in your post header? It's a little confusing cause I thought that was part of your post at first.

You're not alone. I know what it's like to lose stuff in a hard drive crash. I had to redo everything from scratch once, and it's not fun. It's a lot of hard work, and you're constantly stuck thinking "This was already done", and "It's not the same."

I know your pain. Quit if you want, it might save you a lot of heart ache. If you don't want to quit, then do what you can to get yourself motivated and try your best to recreate what you lost. Yes, it won't be anywhere near the same, but at least you're trying to make better of the situation.
Dude, that happened a lot with me.

I lost the count of many times i wanted to cancel something because losing my roms.

I didn't gave up in any moment.
You really like SMW Hacking? If yes, you can't give up now, you have to fight with that life walls or you aren't going to have progress.
I restarted a lot of rom hacks, i cancelled...but i still here, i love smw hacking.

Don't give up, i think everyone would like to see your hack finished.
Good luck, dude p/

yep, dropbox is the way to go, esp. when doing a group project.
On the bright side, stuff you made back then is probably worse than now.

I've remade about 70% of my 60 levels in my kaizo hack simply because I was unsatisfied with them.
Have you tried any recovery software?

Stop shitposting. Quoting someone without saying doesn't really add anything at all, especially since that particular post wasn't even something that benefits or helps the problem by being agreed to.

The quality of that shitpost is so bad, that it shouldn't be considered a shitpost but more a bad post.
To be honest, there's not much that can be done to help here. The most he can do is try to recreate whatever was lost, and keep a high work e ethic and persevere through these tough times. As others have said, make regular backups, both online and on rudimentary drives, and thos problem can be avoided. The most that could be lost would be the progress you made since backup, which is much better tha n losing everything.

It may sound bad, but don't let this knock you down. You'll be fine as long as you get through the small things.
I say give it awhile and don't touch it, but don't delete it either. Wait until you're ready to make a decision.

Personally I would continue, but that's just me.
