Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle coming to Nintendo Switch

It has been announced that in September, the fangame "Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle", made by NIS America, is coming to the Nintendo Switch, along with the PS4 and PS Vita.

I for one am excited that a Touhou game is going on a Nintendo console (even if it is an unofficial Touhou, and Nintendo game.)

I wonder if anything will change between the Nintendo Switch version and the other versions.

It looks... rather mediocre and boring, honestly. There are probably better fangames they can port.

The only good thing that can come out of this is that it might encourage more niche games to be ported on Switch and be available worldwide, thanks to no region lock.

Call me when the official shooter/fighter games are actually available on console, localized and available worldwide. That would actually be a sight to behold.
I should be shocked that this exists.

DID EVERYONE ACTUALLY MAKE TOUHOU GAMES FOR EVERYTHING?!

^What?

This is a sign that more Touhou games might come to consoles other than the PS4. Hopefully we'll see more games for switch and 3DS soon.

Looking forward for Reimu in Smash.
IT'S FINALLY OUT

I'm not really interested in the game, but I was amazed to see a physical copy the last time I was at target. Seriously, when did touhou get to the point of being on display at american retail?

I honestly would rather have that rhythm battle game on the PS4 though, sounds awesome.
EDIT: Holy shit, the exact same game I just mentioned is actually also coming to switch, It's full title is Touhou Sky Arena: Gensoukyou Kuusen Hime Matsuri Climax
What a wonderful time to be alive
Dang, I'm actually surprised that there's a topic for this game on SMWC 8> I'll add in my two cents since I've been playing a lot more fighting games lately.

From what I've played, Kobuto V seems to be a pretty unique fighting game. I think the most similar game I've played to it is ARMS, but Kobuto is interesting in that the gameplay actually involves becoming proficient at using and dodging danmaku (unlike what I've seen with the official fighting games), since you can't block unless you're at a melee attack range.

I usually play fighting games for multiplayer, but in my opinion, the single player is much more fun than those of other fighting games I've played because it feels like I'm playing Touhou, while also being a fighting game with a nice arsenal of moves. (Though, should note that Kobuto V's characters are currently all from EoSD, with the exception of Koishi Komeiji who is DLC for 50 cents USD. The developers mentioned adding in future character DLCs if there's enough interest for the game.)

But online reviews seem to view the game much more negatively than I do. I think a part of that is because the game seems to have been released on PS4 without English instructions on how to play, and the game doesn't really indicate how to use most of the moves at all otherwise without something like a manual (that comes with the Switch version). And it's also evident from gameplay footage and reviews that the average PS4 player probably doesn't know how to do most of the moves (so they basically just use the 3 moves that are directly mapped to buttons) as a result :\ and I think a lot of bad reviews and complaints about the gameplay being dull and repetitive (or sometimes confusing) have come from these PS4 players.

So I would say that, based on the gameplay, Kobuto V is significantly better than what review ratings online might currently suggest, at least as long as you learn the game's controls first. But note that I don't really judge games based on graphics. (If I did, I would have stopped playing SMW hacks quite a while ago, lol.)
