A bit cliché
Although it'd help if the background wasn't so crowded and detailed, it clashes with the minimalist FG as is lol

Yeah, I agree, it's very cliche, but that was only a merely experiment, because I had to literally sacrifice every color that wasn't part of Layer 3 palette to make it, you know, YI can't handle custom palettes so easily, even more with the global ones (and even it doesn't work fully good lol). However it can be done easily with SPASM, some ASM knowledge and the correct YI palette pointers, according to Raiden. Making something like this with SNESpal (or Pastel, as I did) is not a good idea.

It would be cool to bring out a color like with the DK tie, for example the Baby Mario's cap or Yoshi's shoes. But I guess it's not that easy to manipulate palettes to get that result.

Ok, I've actually kinda replicated the effect with SPASM and this is the result. (I've tested it on a different level btw)

As you can see I changed the things a bit. First of all, I've let some colors as the original, for example, a red, a yellow and a green. Even if I know the shadding effect looks really weird, that's the only way to recognize certain sprites (as the current egg's colors, which are impossible to recognize being black at all, or piranha plants) Yellow and red are also necesary to see properly the star counter on-stage (for displaying the actual numbers instead of a big black empty dot) Also, the effect seems to dissapear when getting the goal at the end of the level (not a big problem imo)

Actually this is possible, but it's needed to edit the Yoshi's graphics a bit, because colors are weirdly distributed on both Yoshi and Mario.

A "Chocolate-based" level, it's so original. xD But after I have discover this color for the water palettes, I knew I had to do this level. Of course, with the experience that I will acquire later, I could edit this level later.

Very cool, you definitely used that palette in a good way! I liked the level as well, maybe the last part could be improved a bit, but nothing to worry (I mean I got your point on putting cement blocks and so)

Actually I never tried this until now, but for some reason I thought I did lol. Anyway, it's possible:



I get both things, Mario's hat and Yoshi's shoes (plus Yoshi's spines and part of the saddle) Though Mario's mouth gets odd I'm happy with the result.

The second level of my upcoming hack, quite simple but I wanted to do a level oriented a little towards the pure platform. There will be others, further, to the difficulty obviously increased. And you can see the first edited icons. The black screen of the middle ring will be fixed later.

It's a bit flat overall, but it's an ok level, I like the SMB tribute part. I guess you can use more sprites to make the level a bit varied, or use some decorations (plants and waterfalls if you're using Cave 0, or mushrooms and crystals if you're using Cave 2)

Quite interesting Shiny Ninetales. Now to show some progress of my hack.
It's going slow, but here are 2 screenshots:

Onto 1-7, Crystal Showoff. You start after you got the goal from 1-6.

I needed the melon here. Don't worry, there is one nearby.
Two questions regarding GFX:

Here, I sorta opted for a "prison" platform(hence those bars), but I can do better. Any ideas?

I don't think this is necessary. I should go back to the wooden platform. Or should I upgrade it?
One more thing before I leave:

Don't you like editing the boss' colors? I re-drew the icon from 1-8 to orange and made the boss look like the small ones, but bigger.
Edit: I hope a new YI editor will be available. Also, I've drawn every extra icon. I'll let you look at 5 of them:

Wow, that Salvo looks unexpectedly great! I never imagined how it would look with its native yellowish color. Those icons also look very good, nice job there.
