catastrophic computer freezes

Every single computer I've ever owned since my dad died has had some major unfixable technical issue. This time, it seems to randomly freeze, Chrome says the page is unresponsive, and I can't even the emergency menu with Ctrl+Alt+Delete. What the fuck is going on with my computer? Chrome sometimes hangs for a few seconds, but one time it happened when I didn't even have Chrome open. And the Event Viewer isn't recording anything. Is it a virus? Is it because I have a solid state drive?

This is the third time it's happened in roughly a week. This time, I actually got a black screen with just the cursor, so I had to hold the power button.

The latest attempt, at least, seems to be the "Amazon Assist" virus trying to "unmarshal" itself (basically get ready to run according to Wikipedia) and the COM's denying it access or something.
