38) Try and put a little note or comment in the credits if you can't fill it all with names. I'm tired of strings of "Blah blah blah blah"

39. You can start anywhere you want, no one is stopping you. Heck, you could even start on the last world before making the intro screen!

41) Don't be overly concerned with gfx. As long as you have good level design thats good.

I have a question which bothered me since a while, about one of the tips on the main page: "Don't use secret exits in vertical levels". I did that at least one time and there was absolutely nothing wrong with that, so... why? What "can" happen?

I'm not sure myself, that's one of the original tips I didn't put there.
Perhaps it has to do with if you're on an odd or even numbered screen. The HDMA for the keyhole would screw up on an even screen, or vice versa. I really don't know for sure.

43. Don't make Mario always have to scroll to the right. Make levels where the player has to scroll to the left.
44. Avoid blind jumps. If you must have one, have coins that lead the way.
45. Don't make impossible-to-get items, such as moons trapped in cement blocks.
46. Try to make the first world themed off of something besides grass.
47. Do not name the first world Yoshi's Island.

48. The point is for players to play through your levels, not fly over them. So try to avoid giving the player the cape early on.
49. Try to make it so that there is always an obstacle for the player instead of having empty areas.
50. If you have an idea for a later level, work on it immedietly so the idea is still fresh on your mind.

hopefully this one hasnt been done yet.
52) its ok to ask for help, but not too much help. you do need to learn to do somethings yourself.

53) Nothing really matters except the level design. A good name for the hack helps make it stand out, a new world map and some new GFX makes it look less redundant, and new obstacles and enemies make for many new possibilites, but alone, none of them matter like level design.

59) The first levels should be easy, or if you want a difficult hack, medium. They should progressivly get harder afterwards.
60)Don't make really long levels. It gets pretty boring and difficult, almost no matter what it's composed of, as long as it's long.
61) Don't change the spike sprites. If you simply must, make them look like indisputable spikes. Don't just assume that we know not to step on pointy things. MAKE THEM SPIKES!
62) Don't leave particularly long stretches of land with nothing in them, unless you intend the the player to do a running jump onto something. If you do, make sure they know it.

63) Think of something creative that no one else is doing to put in your hack.
64) Remember to IPS your hack before you submit it, don't submit ROM's to the site >_>

65. And before submiting the IPS to the site, check if it works... try playing all the demo and see if you spot any glitches... I know it's hard work...
