My new, and hopefully first successful hack has been worked on lately. I want it to be a good, but not too fancy, meaning few custon sprites and blocks, and retaining most of the origninal gfx, with some pallette swaps and exgfx mixed in. I'm not sure when I'll release it, but hopefully soon. I only have a few levels don and about half the overworld, so don't expect a release happening any time soon.

here's some images, not just screenshots:

Title Sceen:

Overworld(currently complete):

That's it for now, some level shots will be coming later :)
I think it's Kaizo you're trying to spell in the special world (if I'm not mistaken?).

A couple of comments on the OverWorld:

The second submap picture looks a little square-ish. I don't mind it, but the other people here do.

Star Road is a little plain, maybe you could make it an actual island or something?

Otherwise, looks fine to me. ^.^

Thanks, I just realized that

It's supposed to look squarish, I need to do a palette swap and an explanation though...

yeah, I will, just gotta... add.... EDGES!!!!!

thanks!

Well, I just give you some suggestions:

You really should change the title. It is a basic "name" World XP I think you know what I mean ;)

The second OW screenie is very uncreative. And I couldnīt think of an excuse there. How about slpitting the isle into 5 smaller ones? Then some shiny curves here and there and voila, the OW isnīt square-ish anymore :)

I hope the kaizo special world is just a joke! Something like that kinda destroys my hope at beating these extra stages without frustration D:
And Kaizo often means insanely-hard-and-noobish-looking-level.
Thatīs my thought on the first OW screenie.

The fortress on the star road looks kinda not in place. Iīd move it a bit to the left, if you want to keep it.

An OW should always be decorated. Some hills here, some stones there. Your OWs do look empty.

Thatīs actually all I have to say for the first look. I hope this helped you at least a bit ;)

It's a major Object in the game, not just my username

As I said, I will fix the 'squarishness' when I get to it

LOL, it's optional, and beating it leads to nothing. The Kaizo level is actually a joke in itself. I found a theme for it too: Last Boss Battle: 255 Bowsers Kaizo Edition! Maybe not...

I cant move to the left, it will be on the left side of the hill( 16x16 ow tiles move on a 16x16 grid). I'll fix it.... Somehow...

It was scrapped in a few seconds. I'll add some decor soon.(exactaly: Tomarrow.)

Can't you just move the hill one tile to the right, then?
Or you could make the hill fatter.
I like the Star Road map, it's cool.
It needs more decorations though, and i miss the sky.
more curvy, then it should be better
The Overworld looks ewwwwwww.
Make your own Plalletes.
Make an actuall LANDMASS with the star road map, and not just 5 or 6 tall hils. And the castle is FALLING OFF OF IT!!!
And "Kazio Special World"? First, It's Kaizo, and second, I hope not.
The grassland map looks horrible being all blocky and stuff.
All in all, it looks half-assed. Look around the forums for some GOOD overworld screenshots, look at some of the featured hacks. Get an idea of what to design. Draw it out. Scribble around in MS paint. And check out the "How to make a good OW" thread.
THEN come back and post your overworld.

That first world looks very blocky and has no decorations... And the demo level isn't changed...
Wow. I am currently working on a hack called Ancient Mario World. I guess I have to switch the name of the hack now that its taken.
