As you have probably already noticed, I decided to move SMW Central to a new server despite me saying it'd have to wait until the new site is finished.

Everything should be working properly now, except for SMWiki, which I had to leave at the old server. This unfortunately also means that when my old subscription runs out, there will be no more SMWiki. I will be taking it down on March 1st, 2009.

Fear not, however. The new site will have a replacement for SMWiki, so the amount of time we will have to live without a wiki is limited. We will be making an effort to keep the data.

Yay for the faster server!

Too bad the SMWiki has to go though. D:
Heh, no wonder my board time was an hour off :P

Anyway, as pieguy has said, yay for the faster server!
It's good to have the site going at a satisfactory speed again. {:)
I just hope we don't lose any of the SMWiki...
Start saving up...
The new server, it's so beautiful.

and SMWiki is no big loss IMO, but a replacement does sound cool.
I personally have only visited the wiki once, and that was to get the nightfall pic for Ersanio. Personally, I don't see why we need one. We have the RAM and ROM maps, patches, blocks, sprites, etc. We have all of those sections, making a wiki kinda useless in terms of downloads. And there's plenty of other places/wikis to go to get various information about Mario. The only thing that I could find a wiki useful for that isn't covered in the current layout of the site is a place for our users to describe themselves a bit, but that's what a profile bio is for.

tldr I'm one for not keeping the wiki, but that's my opinion.
Meh. The Wiki is a neat section but nothing that's important for me.
But if we could atleast keep the wiki itself it would be cool.
I really liked the wiki, it had nice documentation on stuff like dynamic VRAM upload, yxppccct format, etc.
I would like to keep the wiki. It has a lot of good documentation on enemy sprites. I'd be happy to help back it up.
Same, it had lots of useful data.
SMW gameplay data, stripe image format, some more in-depth RAM/ROM data (especially $7E:0012 and $7E:0100), additional user data, etc.
I really wouldn't want to have that gone.

If I can be of any help by the time it's gone, I'd love to.
Why are you all complaining about SMWiki going away?

It's coming back, but not in Wiki form :|

Which implies we may lose some of it!
Can't someone save the wiki in an .html format, then just re-design it later?

Saving the entire wiki as a bunch of HTML files is exactly what I'm planning on doing.

(Due to version incompabilities (or some crap like that), the current wiki database can't be imported onto the new server.)

Actually, I made a backup of the SMWiki last night. I'm hoping it didn't cause any bandwidth problems. :P It is about 30 MB zipped up - would anyone like an upload of it?
Too bad will have no wiki (for a short time) but at least SMWC has a faster server now! :D
Huh...I was wondering why the site was going faster. Yayz for new server!

Yes, I would.
Should i send you my e-mail adress or something?
This thread is old.

You'll want to send him an email/query/PM/something if you need data from the SMWiki, yes.
