1. There are many types of .bin files, you know... Do you mean custom blocks? You can insert them with Blocktool. A good tuturial for this is stickied in N00b SMW hacking.
2. Click and drag? You don't have to do that.
Put your ROM in the Sprite Tool folder. Then make a .txt file, and enter the sprites you want to use, with the sprite numbers. For example:
11 birdo.cfg
1A venus.cfg
(Yes, they have to end with .cfg)
Originally posted by Sprite Tool readmeHow do you pick a sprite number for a custom sprite? Well, it depends on the kind of sprite it is:
00-BF Standard Sprites (sprites included in the 'sprites' subdirectory)
C0-CF Shooters (sprites included in the 'shooters' subdirectory)
D0-DF Generators (sprites included in the 'generators' subdirectory)
E0-FF Invalid
Then open Sprite Tool, and enter your ROM's filename (i.e. smwhack.smc). Press enter and enter the file name of the sprites list (i.e. sprites.txt). Press enter again, and the sprites are inserted!
Open your ROM in Lunar Magic, go to Sprite editing mode and press Insert. Where it says "command", put the sprite number, and where it says "Extra Info", put the extra bit.
Originally posted by Sprite Tool readmeSo what's the difference between the values 2 and 3 in the "extra info" field? Open the .asm file of the sprite (this is just a text file). Near the begining there will be a line reading "Uses first extra bit". For sprites that say "NO", you should always use the value of 2. For sprites that say "YES", there will be a description of a behavior that will be present if the first extra bit is set. You should use the value of 3 if you want this behavior, and 2 if you don't.

I don't get it... There's no ExGFX file there, only 2 map16 pages (and a palette). And when I insert those, I just get the normal SMW tiles.

And you should listen better, vinifera (<<)
He clearly said that it doesn't contain any ExGFX(bin) file -.-

Please excuse me. I didn't realize that the ExGFX section wasn't regulated for quality as well as I thought. Next time I won't direct a user to any files in the ExGFX section unless I have personally inspected them to ensure that they contain all necessary files.

Just out of curiosity, what the heck are the "reloc offsets" in blocktool for?

I'm having trouble with smkdan's Layer 3 Water Fix sprite. I put it in, but whenever I enter a level, the game freezes.
EDIT:
It's been solved.

I am having trouble with the sticky block from the blocks section. The files just contains the bin and no description as to what offsets the block uses. Does anyone know what they are.
Another thing I have a sprite request "not sure if this is where I do this so correct me if I am in the wrong section." I think a neat custom sprite would be a reznor that you could use in levels. I do not know how enough about ASM to create my owns sprites. Anyhow, I think it would be neat if you had a reznor that would charge you like charging chuck if you got close, but if you were at a distance it would shoot its fire at you. Also, to kill it you would have to hit it with something three times, or more, much like birdo. I can make the graphics if someone could make the sprite, but I am probably just spitting in the wind.

I was wondering, how do you change the text in information boxes?

Go to the overworld editor, press the message box on the toolbar, select the level you start in, and choose either message 1 or 2.

BOOFFIN 1996: Edit GFX3#.bin (it's 30 something, not 33). If these aren't correct, I'm unsure. GFX33 is animation, and I'm sure GFX30-33 apply for everywhere (levels, intro, etc.).
