Tip: Take advantage of easy to install Patches in your hack. The No More Sprite Tile Limits patch should be considered if you're encountering glitches where Mario and/or sprites are turning invisible.

Blocktool: I inserted the on/off switch blocks that are passable if the block is on etc. How do I make that that it changes his graphics if it is "on" and it is "off"?

Edit: When I insert in Blocktool sign2 from the Sign Blocks set, it says "file not found". What should I do?

Okay, I'm trying to insert the Poison mushroom into my hack. I know the sprite has to be 85 for the Poison mushroom but is there a custom block for the poison mushroom? Also, I want to insert donut lifts but the sprites also has to be 85 for the donut lift sprite, so I won't be able to insert the donut lift.
1- I think there WAS a custom block for it. Since the Poison Mushy is actually a normal sprite (NOT custom) you can change with a hex editor a block that you don't want to use...like the green shell block (127 and 128). Sprite 85 gets replaced by the poison mushy, don't worry, sprite 85 is unused in the game...Unless, you have a custom block that changes the Poison Mushroom into a Green Koopa Shell.

2- I repeat: Since the Poison Mushy is actually a normal sprite (NOT custom) and the donut lift IS a custom sprite...you can make both use that number in the sprite list.

Don't worry about the Poison Mushroom replacing the Donut Lift. The mushroom replaces regular sprite 85. (Its unused)

You'll need to edit what comes out of a ? block with a hex editor to sprite 85. I'd suggest replacing a block you won't use. (Like the block with a shell in it, for example)

Edit: Beaten. D:

1) Use an On/Off ExAnimation
2) Make sure sign2,bin is in the same folder as Block Tool.
1. Thanks.
2. It is in the same folder as blocktool.
How do you use the sprite tool step by step. With an easy explanation. I put the rom and the sprite tool and everything else all in the same folder but it still didnt work will someone help me?
Here's an idea! Read the readme. <__<
IF anyone completley know how to use Sprite tool let me know I cant figure out anything.
Hello? You even know how to read? Read the readme, read the tutorial in documents section, read the SMWiki...
It's not that hard! Just read the readme again and again until you do get it.
Okay. A Berry is both an object/block AND a sprite. Sometimes, when Yoshi tries to eat a berry, there is a glitch where the block begins to be snatched with Yoshi's tongue, but the sprite gets stuck on the screen, uneaten. This sprite berry can still be eaten, with the same benefits as if Yoshi had eaten the berry all in one go. Is there a way to only insert the berry sprite into a level? This way, you could still have an edible berry with the same effects, but you could have several different sets of custom fruit ExGFX. It would be difficult/next to impossible to have the block berry and sprite berry share a wide range of different fruit graphics (since the block version is broken up across the same GFX file as Mario), but if you only rely on using the sprite berry, you could have all sorts of different fruits for Yoshi to eat.
What is up with that Banzai Bill Generator custom sprite? It causes an error in Sprite Tool whether I load it as a normal custom sprite, generator or shooter. The site info reads that you can set it to generate a custom sprite, but Banzai Bill is an original sprite. Why is it called a Banzai Bill Generator if it generates custom sprites?

Also - still looking for a way to insert a berry sprite.
@Boing: Ohhhh... The readme doesn't help because Blocktool won't accept sign2. Anyways, don't answer with "read the readme". Thank you very much but other times, don't answer on my questions.

@all others: Problems with YY-CHR:
When I try to rip FG or BG from the game Kirby Superstar (SNES), I can't find the right colors. They are not there. The sprites are shown up with the right colors but the FG or BG even not. And Boing, I read the manual.

That's because the KSS's palettes are stored in a different area in RAM than in other games. They start at $1113 in a ZSNES savestate file.
yea, i've tried to rip from that game too. the colors are mostly black and hard to see
Sorry, but I have the same problem. Can you maybe post a screenshot?
