Update: I've been noticing a lot of posts by people saying that they will sign up for levels. Again, this is not the method by which you sign up. When it comes time to sign up, there will be a list of all the levels one can sign up for and you may choose however many you want on a first come ,first served basis. Signups will only begin after the completion of the Overworld so please do not post in the thread saying you will "sign up." I won't keep track of it that way.
-------------------------
Feel free to use this thread for general discussion of the hack, coming up with level ideas, etc. Just remember that the plot and worlds lists are already finalized, so there's no real need for more discussion on them unless you just want to comment on them, not try and change them.
Please remember that this is not a team hack like you know, but more like a VIP Mario collaboration hack. It will be structured like the VIP series is where level designers basically have complete control over their levels.

Why are the original post dates 02-26-2009?
I may give a hand in this. However, I don't use IRC.
For the plot dealing with eggs, will the egg song be mentioned? "Get your eggs here!"
Yay, first post in the new forum besides FirePhoenix!

The first posts are that far back because of magic!
Actually it's because the forum was created that far back and only now was made public.

I do believe so. There's activity in the channel sometimes. Discussion and... more discussion.

I suppose so. I wonder when the level signups are going to be...
By the way, are there going to be custom sprites and ASM hacks and music to go along with the individuals' levels?

As my time for editing is limited, I can serve as an unofficial advisor (How to arrange levels, pallettes, ASM tricks, etc...).
Sounds like fun.

I'll join if it's needed, I can design a level or two and some help with some graphics.
Don't expect me to do anything involving ASM (such as Xkas or Sprite Tool).

I can only do vanilla hacks but I can try and create a level or 2.

I could design phases (levels), or possibly compose some music for it.

I may or may not make a level or two for the collection, but I'll definitely play this hack publicly for you guys if you desire the news to be spread quickly...

I am willing to create ASM hacks, and levels. This sounds like fun. :3

I volunteer to be an all-around dude. I can rip or design graphics, music, asm (sprites especially), patches, levels, overworld, whatever you want.

I don't think you guys understand exactly how this hack will work. It's not a "team hack" where people sign up for various parts of the hack, instead, it's a VIP-style collaboration. People will sign up to create levels without any true restrictions other than matching the world theme. Graphics and ASM hacks will be added on a designer-by-designer basis. I'll get more into exactly how this all will work when it comes close to the time for level signups.

I realized that All I'm saying is that if I make any levels there will more-than-likely only be custom graphics and music in it, nothing more.

Well, I'm not terribly good at graphics, but I think I could make a level or two for this, and have been working on tailoring levels to different difficulties.
The only issue I might run into is a bit of map16. I tend to burn a lot of tiles, especially when custom blocks are involved. How is that sort of issue going to be addressed, because I could imagine a lot of trouble if a lot of us are using half of a map16 page for each level we make, and that not even counting any background.

Yeah, I have a similar issue when it comes to Map16, with custom blocks and decoration outside of the regular slopes and whatnot.
Nevertheless, unless it's going to be arranged differently, I'd like to create the graphics, music and design for a couple levels in the hack, keeping with the world themes. If it can't be done this way, that's fine.

We are going to have to be VERY careful with map16 usage. I encourage everyone to use tilesets that don't need lots of map16 or find ones that work over the original sets. Better yet, I encourage people to make vanilla levels as well since there's a lot of creativity that can be found in vanilla hacking still and map16 wouldn't be as much of a worry.

Sounds cool, I'll probably take part. Hopefully I can get something cool like a switch palace.
