To keep this post from being just a bump, how would World Zero fit Peach's Castle, Mario's House, Toad Town, and Toad Town Sewers? Will it be the main OV?
I'm liking how the OV is turning out... I might play the game when it comes out, if it is worth the effort... : )
...I don't see a red edge...
Also, World 0, while supposed to be Toad Town, Mario's House, and Toad Town Tunnels, will be mostly Toad Town Tunnels, the way I've designed it, as the former two are pretty much connected to World 1, on the main map, while the Tunnels will be on a submap all their own.
Also, I don't remember being told that Peach's Castle has to be a level seperate from Toad Town, so I just want it to be part of the Toad Town level. :< I mean, Peach's Castle in IN Toad Town whenever the Town appears, after all. (Barring PiT, though.)

I see how it would work out.
Nevermind about the OV thing, I opened the image and saw none. When I saw the post, I could see it though... weird...

@pikaguy900: all of those submaps look great so far for a beta-ish submap.

Maby its just me, but somthing about this submap seems... wrong

1.I guess you climbing up, but it looks to me like a bridge is used.
2.is that line ment to be where it meets the sea, because if you are climbing up there and its the same hight as the land mass, then why has that got the long drop down.
(and i guess thats what you mean by climb down)
3. it looks cool, but its the 2nd thing that makes it look like a floting land mass.
4. is this where you could put a mountain, because it would be a cool level.
The small hills would be good to give it texture though.
But you have spent a long time on it, so i dont expect any changes.
(its just, untill now i was looking forward to the sky world)

How can you scale a wall with a bridge?

I think that's his point. It's supposed to be a cliff but looks like a gap. Am I right?

phenolatukas:
1: It's a cliff. I thought that was EXTREMELY obvious. And I mean so obvious, you'd have to be WANTING to see a gap to see such a thing...
2: It's supposed to be floating at the top. YES, I SAID FLOATING. Before you complain, pre-emptive strike: Why should ANYTHING in the Mario universe make sense? I mean, blocks float, so why can't whole buildings float in the clouds? (Some already DO...)
3: As I said before, it's supposed to look like a mountain. For all you know, though, it could be a broken piece of the mountain inside the building itself, surrounded by water that is, again, inside the building. ;)
4: Uh, no. Look, you guys need to stop making assumptions, really. You know why I show you pics from in-game? Yes, because I'm used to it, but mostly because...
I FEEL THAT SECRET LEVELS SHOULD FREAKING STAY SECRET. Geez. Showing you where they are before the entire OW is done just ruins the secret-ness for me. I LIKE making surprises, okay? So please, stop assuming that I should make every place that looks like it could have a level actually LOOK like a level's there. That's not how I do things. Some places can look that way, but half the time, I hide the location, then reveal the path through EVENTS. EVENTS, DARN IT. For all you know, I could've been intending to make a mountain rise up through the clouds through events this whole time! But you DON'T know because you're ASSUMING and because I haven't TOLD you specifically. (But for the record, I want that to be a cloud level. Look, I don't care that YOU guys want many mountains poking out of the clouds, okay? A cloud world shouldn't be dominated by icy mountain levels. No, it should be dominated by the WORLD THEME, which is CLOUD. ) I really hate ruining surprises. >_>
You guys...need to stop making assumptions. Really. After all, you know what they say about assuming... Plus, what good will it do? All it's gonna do is make me angry...because your assumptions are usually wrong.

I dunno if you have done this in the event editor or something, but perhaps you should use the little climbing rock tiles, on the area where you climb up the cliff. It looks fine to me, but apparently some people would benifit from that.
All in all, though, it looks pretty good. I can't wait to see more.

I can do that if I find space for it...and I know just how to get it!

Is it too late to join this as a level designer?
I had an idea like a year ago, and I still remember it.

Level sign-ups haven't started yet. We are waiting for the OW to be done.

Okay, question for you, guys. I'm currently working on Worlds 6 and 7, so I'm almost done. However, I have an important question for you guys...
How do you want the levels to be named?
Do you want the levels named after the worlds and the level positions in a linear order (Things like "World 1-1" or "Blahblah Plains Secret", so SMB1- or SMW-styled), after the purpose of the level (Things like a level based on paying people with coins you find in the level being called "Pay Up" or a lavel based on having to win at casino games to pay someone being called "The Big Payoff", much like the VIP series apparently do), or just plain based on the theme of the level (Things like the first level in Blahblah Plains being a "path" so the level would be called "Blahblah Path", or a desert oasis in Hothot Desert being called "Hothot Oasis", etc. For a better example, look to my released hacks- I did this style in EVERY LEVEL IGGY! and EVERY LEVEL MORTON!...)?
That's an important part of my work, to be honest. If you guys want ME to name the levels, then I will, but if you guys want to name them yourselves, that's more work to be done after everything's done... Plus, if you want the levels to get named by the gimmick in them, you're not getting names out of me. I can't read your minds, and I sure as heck won't know what goes into the hack until after it's done. Thus, I'd have no way of knowing what to name the levels until everyone's done submitting them.
My personal choice? I have none. Even if I did, I'd completely ignore it, as these levels are coming from YOU, not me. (Unless I make a few, but that's beside the point.) Therefore, I want YOU guys to choose the naming style.

I think World 1-1, 1-2, etc would get boring quickly, but naming them after the individual level would be a lot of post-compilation work. I would have to say, I like the third idea. This makes the levels a little less similar to every other level, but isn't nearly as much work.
I'll keep a list of votes:
Option A (World 1-1, 1-2, etc.) - 0
Option B (The Big Payoff, Pay Up) - 0
Option C (Blahblah pathway, Hothot oasis) - 1

I like level names based on the theme of the levels themselves. Stuff like "Skyway Heights" and "Desert Barrenroad" appeal to me the most.

Option B (The Big Payoff, Pay Up) - 0
Option C (Blahblah pathway, Hothot oasis) - 2(?)
I hope I understond you post right...

Let's leave the naming up to the creators. We can always review the names once the hack is almost done to make sure everything flows but let's leave the first draft of the names with the people making the levels, that way the name usually suits the level itself more than the world it's in.

I vote for option B, as I think the creator of a level should be allowed to name it himself according to the level theme.

Ditto. But i really think it should be up to the creator of the level cuz sometimes b and c would kinda go together.
