No it isn't. But this hack are supposed to be original.

Or else we could do whatever that we just come up with.
The reason why the plot is so simple is in order to allow more freedom when making levels. We already tried a complex and original plot (trust me, it was a good one too), but it was decided that we needed to change the focus of the production when we changed to a collaboration.

(The old plot is now a mini-hack I'm working on)
What I'm trying to say is, Hungry Mario IS overused!

We could even just skip the plot completely. Just anything other than "Mario wants to go find eggs to eat". Even collecting seven cupcakes would be better!

Look, the plot was kept simple for the reason Lucas mentioned., I chose eggs because if we choose anything else, we need to change the universal yoshi egg graphics so they show in the castle destruction sequences. That means that we would have to have an exgfx with the yoshi egg graphics the way they should be in every level that has yoshi. I'm just trying to keep things simple.

I love the layout, but might I suggest turning that hole in the middle into a litle lake? Also, maybe drain a little colour out of that groud. But these are just suggestions, it's always your call.
Pretty Palette for the world... em... what world is that?

About the hole in the middle of the map I suggest you to have an event flooding it when activated.
Why grey grass on the bottom of the castle ?

The palette is leftover from whatever rom I used as a base. I'd played around with overworld stuff in it before giving it to matt. He's obviously free to change it.
Update on that world. (It's World 2, BTW.)

First off, I am NOT turning that big ol' hole into a lake. That wasn't my original intention, and I'm not going to consider it now.
However, you still get a lake!

Counterclockwise FTW. It's the exact opposite of the original SMW.

Direction doesn't really matter, IMO.
Were you told how many levels per world to have or was 3 just your preference?
From looking at previous screenshots, it looks like there are 5 levels, including a castle, only you can't see the other 2 in that one screen. :/
My level will include time travel...that is, if we are able to use custom blocks. (teleportation block)

So far, well...not that much stuff has been done.

We have to get going faster! The fifth VIP mario is coming out.
